"Extemly Suprised - Will stay here again"
Stayed only 1 night, but I was extremly impressed. The room that I stayed in looked like it was just redone. All the furniture and the carpet was new. The room looked like I was the first person to stay in it, thats how clean and updated it was. Breakfast was decent the following morning. This was the least expensive lodging I could find for the weekend of the Newport Boat Show. I am sort of a clean freak so I was nervous about a 2-star hotel, bur the reviews were good so we took a chance and my husband and I were very pleasantly surprised. "Travelodge in Middletown"
This is the second time we stayed at this hotel. Last time we stayed in the building that is not connected to the main building where the office and breakfast area is located. I really liked that location because we parked our car right outside our room and just ran in and out whenever we needed something. This time we were give a room in the main building […] (which I didn't even realized this existed last time). This was a much better location, even though we couldn't run in and out of the car easily. This building has interior corridors, which makes it feel more like a hotel than a motel. This hotel is very clean. The rooms are very big (the secondary building has bigger rooms), as are the bathrooms. It appears that the entire main building has gotten new carpet, as it was plush and the colors were very bright. The comforters and pictures could stand to be updated to match the carpet, but that's just my opinion. Each room has a decent size refrigerator and a microwave, which is a great bonus. The breakfast is doesn't offer hot eggs, but you can make your own fresh waffles. This hotel is on a main road, but you don't hear the noise from your room. The historic mansion are about 4 miles from here. There is a seasonal outdoor pool, but they don't have a fitness room. I was told that they are planning to construct one. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a clean place, ample parking, easy access to the mansions and wharf, and you aren't looking to spend a fortune. This hotel is well worth the money. Staying during an off-peak time, we didn't encounter any problems with noise or overcrowding at the breakfast area. We noticed a light in our room was missing a turn knob and saw the maintenance worker in the hallway. He fixed the light immediately. He noticed we didn't have a microwave in the room and he felt the mini-fridge was humming so he brought us a microwave and a new mini-fridge. All without our asking!
