Aptly named due to its location at the midpoint of Aquidneck Island, Middletown is sandwiched between Portsmouth to the north and Newport to the south. Still well-known as a farming community, Middletown is favored by locals and tourists for its popular beaches. Nature lovers flock to the Norman Bird Sanctuary, which offers seven miles of hiking trails through pristine natural habitats.see all hotels in Middletown
This is the strangest hotel I've stayed at. To start with, there's a creepy little fake flower garden underneath the large staircase in the foyer. You'll need that large staircase, because there's no elevator. After that, we found the door to our room was inside a stairwell. The room was large, plain, and had a funny little alcove off to one side that […] was just big enough for the sofa and the two feet between the front of it and the wall. The bathroom door hardly closed. That said, the room was clean and the rate was decent for the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hope the manager can talk to his employee."
I had a very bad time, I couldn't sleep. The room service people was just in front of my room talking, laughing with a very loud voice, my fiance went to tell them please lower your voices it's 6 am they never responded and kept talking with a very loud voice, So I had to go again and ask them to stop. I had to leave a day early cause I couldn't stand […] the noises. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"No elevater? No working phones? No return trip!"
Won't go back. I left my book in the room and they wanted a credit card to charge me to mail it back from RI to NJ. Stay away! You have to wait forever for a cab and their hotel "shuttle." Call Moonlight Limo - fast and affordable. How do you spell dud? Ramada.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pricey room for what you get"
The room had a musty smell to it. Furniture, tv, bathroom was out-dated. I paid $168/night for 2 nights. Thought that was way too much for what you get. No refridgerator & no microwave. They had an ok continental breakfast. Didn't get to check out the restaurant there. Also NO elevators!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The good: room very clean. Adequate parking. A/C worked well Free News paper. The bad: One of the worst front desk crew at a major chain I have ever experienced. No welcome, no explanation of hotel services. looked completely untrained at service excellence. The building is 3 floors WITHOUT AN ELEVATOR, so be ready to carry bags up stairs. No book of […] hotel services in room. Two people in room =two towels. After first day no floor mat in bathroom. When you see portable dehumidifiers in hall, you know it is not a top of the line hotel. Sign in front advertises restaurant that is closed. Thank god they put us one the first floor, since there's no elevator for the upper levels. Also, they prop the "Emergency Exit" door open, which was next to our room. I don't know if there's a crime problem in town, but when travelling, I'd still rather feel safe.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Needs a major renovation"
This was our second time staying at the Ramada Middletown and we did so specifically because of the shuttle they offer into Newport. This stay wasn't as nice as the first, they had clearly had a flood of some sort on the first floor, our room was a little musty but our friend's room was so bad they had to get it changed, you could barely breathe because […] of the smell. It was also incredibly noisy and I had to call the front desk at 3:30 am to have them send someone up to the room above us to quiet them down. You could also hear the people on either side of you. We found out that the shuttle services another hotel so we'll be staying there next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, but for the price disappointing"
The outside of the hotel is attractive. The inside of the building is old, musty and the walls in the room are paper thin. I could hear every word spoken in the adjacent room until 2 am. The folks upstairs ran marathons all night. Felt like I was in a cheap apartment complex. Every door opened and closed until wee hours in the morning. The continental […] breakfast didn't start until 7am.......so I never even had the chance to enjoy a "free" breakfast. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Poor service with (bad) attitude!"
Reserved through the Expedia surprise discount program. Always a 10 minute wait for front desk attention, usually a line - staff was not interested in helping with anything but travel in the overpriced van service - unfortunate since we had to have key cards rewritten 3 times. WIFI was unusably slow in the evenings - forget Netflix - couldn't even read […] email. Maids kept our room unavailable for 5 hours while we were waiting in the hotel. No elevator. "Okay location, close to a lot of restaurants."
Hotel has no elevators and we were on third floor so it was stairs, stairs, stairs every time we left to go somewhere. Makes it difficult especially when coming in and leaving with luggage. This hotel was nothing like expected. Wallpaper coming off walls, toilet seat falling off, NO customer service - walked in 3 people at front desk, was not even acknowledged by staff. "Okay if on a tight budget."
We booked this hotel for 4 nights for a last minute trip. It was okay if you are on a tight budget. There is no elevator, which wasn't a problem for us even though we were on the 3rd floor, but some may not like this. The room did not have a refrigerator or microwave. The service wasn't that great. Our room wasn't cleaned at all after the 1st night, […] and we had to call the front desk to get clean towels. No apology or anything. After the 2nd night, they didn't stock coffee or new cups in our room. We were there just for sleeping and showers, so we dealt with it. Would look for another place if we are in that area again. "Real disappointing for a Ramada Inn!!"
Windows filthy on outside and between the double glazed. Drape backing falling off. Refrigerator had no shelves, rusty and very noisy. Tub hot water very difficult to turn off (y wife couldn’t turn it off; I had to do it for her).Genuine Expedia guest review

"Too much smell in the room."
The main problem with the rooms are that while they are very nice and clean there is a smell of washed carpet, fungus or bacteria infestation in the room. I believe whoever washed the carpet did a suboptimal job. I changed two rooms and both rooms had bad smell of mildew requiring constant airconditioning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Musty smell room"
We stayed for two nights, on the first floor. I regret that we didn't ask to change to a different room. The room was filled with dank, musty smell. We think it came from the dirty air conditioner. We opened the window, but it didn't have a screen. Everything else about the hotel was fine: comfortable bed, spacious room, noisy, but nice jacuzzi bath, […] complimentary breakfast. Let me start this off by saying I am not picky or have high expectations but in this day and age, when every dollar is so important, I only have one request when staying at a hotel. Please let it be clean. The room was nothing to speak of. Small, old TV. No decor at all. Long black hair in a bath towel. The rug felt damp and dirty. Stain on the chair […] at the desk. The beds were the best part of the room. Very comfortable and comfortable pillows. The breakfast was continental and held in a meeting room. Coffee was not so good but Dunkin Donuts is across the street so that was a nice convenience. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. I witnessed a front desk staff helping an elderly customer open her medication container. The poor woman was struggling and this girl was so nice to her. I ended up spending 134.00 for the room and did not feel it was worth that. I've been traveling to the Newport area for 25 yrs and ve never stayed her before. Unfortunately, I probably won't return to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worn out hotel"
The hotel is not in any better shape than when they renovated it two years ago. really noisy and the answer from hotel staff was that the people were drunk so they couldn't do anything about them running up and down the halls screaming and fighting with each other.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is very old and not so well maintained. The door locks for several rooms weren't working. The front desk kept changing cards for us but we still had to slide the key card several times before it'd open. No fridge or microwave in the room. The "free internet" wasn't working at all. When I'd try to connect to it either it said "no internet connection" […] or when it actually would connect it never would load a page. So that's a scam. Should've known by the speed of the computer that they have hooked up downstairs, even that was at dialup speed and that was wired in! Only positive was that breakfast was not bad, good variety. "Ramada Inn, Middletown"
We only stayed one night, but we were not very pleased. The hotel was not very full, maybe 20% capacity. Our room was on the first floor, and there was someone above us. They were up most of the night, and we could hear everything. The sound barrier or insulation from floor to floor was terrible. We didn't sleep all night. In the morning (Saturday) […] there wasn't a manager on site, and we had to leave early. I would not recommend this hotel, especially during the busy season. I'm sure you it is very noisy. "loud, kid at front desk not helpful"
our room was literally overlooking the lobby, which at first we thought would be convenient. until we went to sleep at 11pm on friday night and 30 mins later a wedding party arrived back at the hotel and was screaming through the halls, drunk, loud, slamming doors, crying, etc. mind you i am only 31 years old so i am not some old prude, but i wanted […] to get at least a few hours of sleep that night before my friends wedding the next day. repeated complaints to the front desk went ignored. i called guest services and no answer. the kid at the front desk could care less. never been so exhausted that morning when i woke up, i literally was up all night long and couldnt enjoy my affair that night because i was so exhausted. not at all impressed. Don't expect the nice fluffy white comforters like it shows in the pics, expect the typical scratchy floral bedspreads. Rooms were small, carpets look like they could use a good shampoo, did not given the impression of cleanliess, but it also did not make me want to run off to another hotel. Stay here if you have to, but keep your expectations low and […] just maybe you might not be disappointed. "Ok if you have too."
Was in town for a wedding and due to price comparison stayed at this hotel. The price per night was over rated considering the hotel was run down in appearance and the bed was lumpy hard and uncomfortable. We were place on the first floor at the end of the hall with a staircase on the other side of the wall, so every time someone walked up or down the […] stairs it sounded like they were banging on the wall. The door leading to the outside of the building d was around the corner from our room and could be accessed by anyone as it remained unlocked 24 hours. So safety was a concern. Due to availability of rooms we were not able to move to another room. On a positive note.. The staff were friendly and helpful. Next tlme I'd spend more for comfort. "Humanity is doomed"
Hotel is run of the mill motor lodge style long and three floors. Problem it's the bottom of the barrel of humanity that stays here. Drunken kids all over the place, parents allowing children to scream in the hallways with no rebuke. The hotel is very noisy, thin walls and doors that seem to close only if slammed. We had to move to another room at 2am […] due to the wrestling match that was going on in the room above. A better bet is to spend more and stay in a higher class place, with hopefully higher class people, though that is getting hard to find these days. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Ramada Inn; Middletown, RI"
The room was a typical hotel room. Walked in to a musty smell. The room was big but it definitely needed to be painted and there were spots of something (I don't want to know what) on the wall. This room was very dark and smelled like smoke - I was so uncomfortable I didn't stay for the second night. "Ramada Inn - Middletown, Rhode Island"
I tried to be optimistic before arriving at the hotel after reading negative reviews from previous guests. Our room was located on the 1st floor off the main lobby. As we entered the room a very MUSTY odor greeted our entrance. There was a sofa and coffee table (no lamp) at the entrance wall and on the opposite wall of the room was a sink. A very dark […] and unattractive room. Off this room was the bathroom. Very clean and tidy. Another door entered the bedroom. The room was painted and the painter went around the backboard of the king size bed and decided not to finish painting the wall. Very poor paint job. I immediately spoke to the receptionist and she did offer us another room; but stated we were in the quietest part of the hotel, because a wedding party and guests had blocked off a large area of the hotel for that 1 evening we were staying. We decide for 1 night we would put up with the poor condition of the room. Mainly being dusty and you could see the dingyness areas of the room. We were able to get a good night sleeps. Unfortunately our friends staying on the 3rd floor of this hotel did not sleep that entire night because of the loudness and wedding guests partying until 2:30 in the morming. "Looks are deceiving"
Very nice from the outside even the lobby and halls were decent. Not a terrible location either, fairly close to Salve (4-5 miles?) But the room was awful. Avoid this hotel and spend a couple extra $$'s for something nicer....it will be worth it. Beds were stained and old. bathroom looked nice but toilet was on a see-saw. The worst part was the noise. […] Horrible sound proofing, the walls are paper thin. Had to listen to loud neighbors drink all night and toss furniture even after calling the front desk. Normal conversations and tv's could still be heard from other rooms. Not worth the couple bucks we saved. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Ramada Middletown is not fancy and my husband and I knew this going into the deal. When we checked in there were 3 clerks at the front desk all of whom did not look like they wanted to help us. The one who did, gave us 2 key cards, said we were on the third floor and that there are no elevators, so you have to lug your suitcases up there by yourself. […] We got all the way up there, to find out that our room had a paper sticker on the door with the room number and no place to slide the key cards, it needed a real key. So my husband had to go all the way back down to the front desk and they gave us a whole new room on the second floor and out of the two new key cards, only one worked. The room was clean, but very shabby. The walls are so thin I was up almost all night with people talking in the hallway, slamming their doors, people talking in the next room etc. Unfortunately there are not many hotels in the Newport area that you can just spend one night at. Most require a 2 night stay. This one does not, so it's convenient, but they really should invest in some sound proofing and some sprucing up. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Would not stay there again"
This hotel can be summed up in one word "smelly". Our room smelled terrible and they would turn off the air after they cleaned it and that made the room worse. "There was a couch facing the wall..."
When I checked in and they gave me directions to the room they gave the directions in relation to them. So when they said go up the stairs and go right, they were referring to their right, not mine. When I found the room and opened the door there was the distinct sound of running water. In the bathroom neither the toilet nor the sink or shower were […] running but it sounded like gushing water. They moved me to a room on the opposite end of the hotel that used an oldfashioned key to get into. Inside it was very roomy but very hot! I turned the ac right on and noticed that there was a couch in a dead end hallway only a foot or so wider than the couch itself. The couch was facing a blank wall. Just weird. The bed was comfy but the place seemed creepy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"You Get What You Pay For!"
The Ramada was more or less what I expected, save for the tiny black hairs engrained in all of the towels and bedding (NOT MINE!). The front desk people were kind of nasty and there are no elevators in this hotel, fyi. However, the bed was very comfortable and room service was adequate, but I've certainly had better experiences.Genuine Expedia guest review
