If you like to stay at idiosyncratic hotels with a very uncommercial feel, like high-quality interaction with hotel concierges (such as Patty and Joan), enjoy being right on the doorstep of the River Walk and around the corner from the Alamo, then River Walk Vista should be on your possibility list. However, if your room is on the Commerce Street side […] of the hotel, even if it is on the third floor, the white noise machine attached to your bed's headboard will be insufficient to ward off the amount of noise generated by partying, police sirens, motorcycles, trash trucks, street cleaning machines and delivery trucks that take place (in that order) from 2:00 AM until 5:00 AM. We tried using CVS ear plugs for two nights and they were only mildly useful. "Quaint - Comfy - Romantic"
Loved it!!! This is our second time staying at this hotel. I have been to many downtown hotels - but this one by far is the best -- even compared to the Grand Hyatt. No - they do not have fancy lobby OR an onsite spa, gym room, etc. that 5 star hotel offers. But what this place offers is a charm that no fancy hotels can offer. I loved the antique feel […] but still felt modern. It will be a little hard to find if you are new in town (just look for McDonalds - it's in the same block). As soon as you pass the hassle and bustle of the street - buzz the doorbell - and enter this charming place - you will be transported back in time - literally. The room is sooooo comfy - loved the sheets (feels and smells new). The restroom is sooooo clean - loved the shower. Can't rave enough about this place. Breakfast is awesome (they do not use plastic/styrofoam plates and utensils) - feels like eating at grandma's house. My wife and I loved it. The room was small and cousy. It had a beautiful view but you can here the cars threw the windows. The cleaningness of the room made us feel at home and the free moring breakfast was deliciouse. The parking was akward, you park away from the hotel for 12 a day. "The Riverwalk Vista Hotel in San Antonio"
First, you must know that the parking is offsite. It's within walking distance and the cost is $12 for 24 hours and no in and out privileges. The swimming pool they have pictured is also offsite and I'm not sure where it's located because I was too tired, from walking to and from the parking garage, to ask. Secondly, this place is more of a "bed n […] breakfast". I have privacy issues and it was not private enough for me. The hotel is nice and clean but the room was more like someone's bedroom. Thirdly, the breakfast was absolutely horrible. The only tasty edible was the muffins, cookies and cereal. It was right across the street from the Riverwalk but several blocks away from the Market Square. We read about the Riverwalk Vista on Hotels.com and just couldn't pass up the opportunity for a quaint hotel ON the riverwalk. Plus, it was well rated by every other review on hotels.com. We had a wonderful stay at the Riverwalk Vista. There were personal touches such as a goldfish in a bowl on the desk, a teddy bear on the bed and a rubber duck in the shower. The room was full of character but also very clean and tidy. We enjoyed free freshly baked cookies each afternoon, free wine service every evening and a quality breakfast buffet […] in the mornings. The location was fantastic, right across the street from the lively Riverwalk, a block or two from the Alamo and an easy walk to the shopping at El Mercado (The Market) and La Villita. The historic homes in the King William neighborhood was also just a short walk away. The Riverwalk had a great buzz even though we were there on Monday and Tuesday nights but we didn't notice any noise from the street when we were back in our room at night. This hotel was comfortable and felt very safe. However, ask to stay on the Riverwalk side. It's a little quieter. Our room was above a bus stop so it was a little noisy.
