It was good for the most part. The location is great and easy to find. There is a playground that our kids enjoyed. My only complaints are that the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable and the breakfast was nothing to write home about. (cereal and pastries)

The only draw back is that I expected the room to be more clean. Found a few items behind the night stand that should have been cleaned. Otherwise, the maintenance was great (toilet running), the breakfast was good, grounds were well maintained. Great location and will stay again.

Considering the very low price through Hotels.com, we honestly didn't expect much, only needing a place to sleep for a few hours before catching a flight (airport is just a few short miles away). But we were VERY pleasantly surprised to arrive and see a cute 2-room suite, with a large outdoor pool and playground. The room included a coffee maker, mini […] fridge and microwave, although we didn't use any of these due to our very short stay. But we did take advantage of the pool (crystal clear!) and playground (in excellent condition!). The room was clean and comfortable with one exception -- we lifted the sofa cushions and were a little put off that they obviously hadn't vacuumed there in quite a while. They offered a free continental b'fast, which was fine -- although more fresh fruit would have been GREATLY appreciated. We would definitely stay and/or recommend this hotel in the future. Read more

We weren't quite sure what to expect from this hotel, but even my husband (who doesn't like the "rustic" look) loved our stay! We liked how the beds were separated from the living area. We LOVED the hot tub part of the pool - it was large enough to swim in! (the rest of the pool was too chilly - it is October, after all) On our first full day there, […] the maid got sick and did not clean our room, but the rest of the staff was so friendly and helpful, and even offered to come clean (even though it was late afternoon when we returned and discovered the room exactly as we left it). It was only one day, though, and the room was cleaned as it should be the rest of our stay. The location was Perfect - very easy to get on the interstate to go anywhere we needed to go. The breakfast was bagels, toast, mini-muffins, and some "cold" foods, but that was just fine with us. If you like a bigger meal in the morning, there are a lot of nearby restaurants you can go to. Joshua was my check in rep. He made this the most friendly and informative check in I have ever experienced. After we had been in our suite for about 30 minutes, he called to make sure we had everything we needed. At bedtime, we pulled out the sleeper sofa and found the sheets were missing. We called the office and they had sheets to us in 5 minutes […] or less. Check out the next day went equally as well. I don't know if it is the hiring choice or the time spent on training, but their customer service was top notch. We booked this hotel as a 2-night stay for our 1-day Schlitterbahn visit (It's about 20+ miles away, but that really wasn't a big deal - preferred not to stay in New Braunfels due to lack of good value properties). This place attracted me with a good value (quality ratings at a decent price). Anyway, we loved the location, and we loved the "rustic" […] layout of the room and gounds. I get the feeling that this would be a perfect place for San Antonio visitors who plan to visit the downtown area and other outlying sites (such as Schlitterbahn) in one extended stay. The pool was very crowded, but not a big deal (see first sentence). Breakfast okay, and very crowded. In fact, the whole hotel seemed very crowded. Good for them, I guess, but it really took away from the overall ambiance. That's why I can't rate this place any higher (good, but not great). In other words, this place was almost as crowded as Schlitterbahn itself. Had a big problem with housekeeping (and I already informed management) - not that they didn't clean - just the opposite - we didn't want service at all (but we didn't have one of those "no service required" things you hang outside on the knob). We got full service, including them throwing away all our styrofoam cups, and totally disregarding the "towel on the floor" green policy by replacing all of our towels, including the ones we deliberately did not place on the floor. This place is great and is especially if you have kids. The amenities were great and a real relaxed atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the room was clean, well-kept, and comfortable. I highly recommend this motel to anyone. Oh, and don't forget the charcoal and steaks because they have some great open grills for everyone's use.

I was not pleased with this experience. The check in clerk could not resolve a discrepancy in my name created by someone on their staff. I almost did not get the room until a senior staff member could figure out what happened. The clerk did not understand why the reservation number did not match my credit card. He was unfamiliar with hotels. com and […] expedia. I asked for a quiet room. I was given a room in front of the swimming pool. The beds are very uncomfortable and possible even have bed bugs. We could not be sure what bugs were on one of the beds but my daughter would not go near it. Neither would I. This is an old place. The floor creaks when you walk on it and gives way a little. For the 30$ I saved here I really learned a lesson. Never again will I look at such a deal You get what you pay for. This place is a dump! Read more

The Hill Country Inn and Suites was wonderful for famlies. We went to San Antonio first, and then drove about 20 minutes down to the hotel. Check in was a breeze and there was plenty of room for our entire family. We had 2 queen sized beds with a tv, then the bathroom (typical hotel sized) with a sink out in the main area (also had a microwave and fridge, […] coffee maker, and cups, mugs, bowls, and plates). Then we had a sitting room with a couch and another tv. Made it very convenient for kids and grownups to watch two different shows. Three things that weren't amazing about the hotel: *There was only 1 pillow per person. I am sure they would have brought more, but we forgot and they were small. *The people beside us were having a really good time. One night I fell asleep to Tejano music, the other to Celine Dion... both nights around midnight. They were still going strong, but I fell asleep anyway. *If you want the complimentary breakfast, which was pretty yummy though typical fare, you should probably go early. We went at 8 am and there was a huge line just to get to the food, and nowhere to sit. We stayed here last spring break and loved it... This time around, our room had ants (some dead, some alive, some about to die) on the ceiling right above our door. We reported it to the front desk and were told it would be fixed (cleaned up and some bug killer sprayed)... They sprayed the bug killer, but the ants were still on the ceiling thru our […] entire stay. I was very upset that it never got cleaned up. They offered to move us, but we didnt want to pack and move and unpack again, so in hopes that it would be taken care of, we stayed in our room... It never happened.
