MY STAY AT THE CROWNE WAS WORTH THE PRICE WE PAID. OVERALL GREAT EXPERIENCE, WILL TRY AGAIN. THE STAFF NICE AND HELPFUL. THE CROWNE PLAZA WAS LOCATED SLIGHTLY AT THE FAR END OF THE RIVER WALK MAYBE A 10 MIN. WALK. THE HOTEL WAS CLEAN, ROOM SPACIOUS,SERVICE WAS GREAT. NICE BAR AND RESTAURANT.

The hotel wasn't bad.... Just old and full of kids running around screaming. When we booked this room through Hotels.com we were told we had free parking and a jacuzzi in our room. There was no jacuzzi and we were charged $23 for parking.

The bed was worn out as if it was old. The gentleman at the front desk failed to inform us about the discount we could receive if we signed up for the rewards. The Valet told us about it. I also asked him for a room over the river and received a room facing away from the river. They did give us a different room and I am happy for that. The other persons […] at the hotel were all great. They were all friendly and very helpful. The food we did eat was good and were the hotel is located was also good. It wasn’t on top of every other hotel so you didn’t feel crowded. You can get a river taxi at the hotel or walk to the main part of the river, not far at all. Bed not comfortable, hot water in shower never got hot just Luke warm, found a bug in the bed, the room was very hot it never got cold the room temp was set on 65 degrees and it was definitely over 75 degrees. Would not recommend staying at this hotel. I have stayed at hotels for way less in price and they were much nicer! NOT SATISFIED!!

We were very impressed with the look, cleanliness and service at the Crowne Plaza but were absolutely beyond disappointed at the horrible mattress and pillow quality in our rooms. Our three night stay was an absolute three night NIGHTMARE. The mattresses were so freakin hard that we could not sleep at night and woke up bleary-eyed with throbbing headaches […] and with major body aches because of this. This was a nice hotel with worse than roach motel beds. There were three types of pillows on the bed but all three were just terrible, terrible, terrible. Had the mattress been the slightest bit comfortable then MAYBE the pillows would not have been so bad but since it felt like we were sleeping on a slab of marble then I don't think any pillow could have redeemed that experience. Our stay at the hotel would have been almost perfect had the beds been better. I was shocked and disappointed that such a nice hotel with such clean, beautiful facilities and a friendly and professional staff would completely overlook and neglect to provide the appropriate beds for one of the most important aspects of travel: a good night's sleep for weary travelers. I would rate "Comfort of your Room" a ZERO if I had the option because "Not At All Satisfied" cannot even begin to describe our experience with the horrible mattress and pillows. :( Read more

Greated by Roberto, with a warm smile that came from within and info about how to get around S.A. this was the start of a wonderful three day break. Staff was friendly and did ask if there was anyway we needed. Anthough we were not well, it ws a very stay with incredable views from our room...for those who are intrested in photograhy.

I thought the hotel was a little far from all the main attractions. The room was clean, but the escalator was not working at times and that was a little dissappointing. Overall it was a very clean and nice hotel with friendly employees. The noise in my air conditioning unit was a little annoying at times.

Well I read the reviews before I choose this hotel and was surprised they were absolutely true. The hotel is great and very well kept. The room was not ready for us but it was packed so I'm guesing that's why but the staff was very helpful. The elevators are an issue only at checkout evey other time it was fast. The parking is not free which was not […] a deal breaker since we got free parking but I can see why I wouldn't stay if I had to pay for parking. The building is across the street and you walk underground to get across which maybe takes 4mins. The beds need an upgrade they are hard spring mattresses and the pillows are small and I have slept in better. No free breakfast but the paid breakfast is not that great but good. The pool was cold not heated but after a while it got better and the hot tub was good overall. We got an executive room and the only perks were higher floor, more space and ONE bath robe and it was a room for two. The room does not come with a mini fridge which is surprising when most hotels come standard with a mini fridge. Its a 10-15 min. walk to the popular part of the river which is good since we mostly walk in San Antonio anyways. Overall the hotel stay was great they just need to do some upgrades to achieve a better star rating I believe. I would highly recommend this hotel but they should and could do better and not have to pay for parking but I guess they have to pay rent for the parking structure. Hope this helps the next couple. This river walk hotel is technically on the river walk, but it is slightly off the beaten path. Certainly, you can get to the middle of everything if you walk about 5-10 minutes (or about a half mile). Bring comfortable shoes. In any case, the walking didn't bother us. The room was average. Not "recently updated" as you might see at some hotels, but not filthy dirty or run-down either, that's why I gave it 3 stars, it was right down the middle. Great spot just up the river, just far enough for it to be quiet but not too far for a short walk from the rivercenter. Parking and breakfast are extra. But you can purchase both for pennies on hotels.com. You can only purchase self parking, but they have an underground walkway which is cool. We came here to celebrate our 9th anniversary. We have no complaints about our stay. It isn't the nicest hotel in the area, but it was clean and nice for the price. They were very nice about our early check in and check out. It is an older hotel and you feel that in places, but the room was very, very clean. The bed wasn't anything special but we slept […] very well. It is a bit of a walk to the main attractions, but a pleasant one. Not much of a pretty neighborhood but again, you get what you pay for. The breakfast was fine, parking was less than many places. They are about to undergo big renovations and that should help the place out a lot. We would have no problem staying there again, but since that was our first stay in San Antonio, we may try out another hotel next time. It might be worth an extra $50 to be closer to the action. I read all the reviews on this hotel before booking it. I decided to give it a try as it was the least expensive choice for a location on the river walk. My wife and I were quite pleased with our choice. It is an older hotel, but well maintained. The elevators are a bit noisy and shaky, but they get you there fast. The breakfast was great...best pancakes […] I've had in awhile. My only problem was the amount of people there. Spring Breakers were everywhere! My wife and I had to take the stairs from the tenth floor a couple of times because we gave up waiting on an elevator after fifteen minutes. Too many people equals too few spots on the elevators, and there were only three of the four elevators working. Not good. The room was clean, and the walk to the main areas of the river walk was fairly short. All in all, it was a good stay. I would recommend this hotel to people looking for an inexpensive stay on the river walk. Read more

Although this hotel is located a few blocks from the main action on the Riverwalk, you can immediately catch this scenic walkway right outside their door. In other words, it's a nice quiet place to get away from the action, but close enough to join in when you want. People and breakfast buffet were EXCELLENT!

Great place to stay if you want to be close to the downtown area. River taxi was just around to corner from parking area. All sites to see were within walking distance. Great fitness area and pool. Food was nice but price was above the norm. Room was spacious for us and loved the three pellows each. I found it to be hard to rest because of all the outside […] noise coming from the street below but things settled down as the night went on. Next night was better guess there was a party going on the night before. Lots of things to offer guest if you wanted them. Nice staff and very helpful. We even were asked to vote on the best pumkin design from the staff contest in the lobby. The only thing I might have to say that was bad was the parking fee (23.75) per day but not having to use my car to get around town kind of offsets that some. Over all my wife and I enjoyed everything about this hotel and would stay again. We were like to young kids playing games all over town. Alot to see and do and this hotel was close enogh for it all. I don't know what all of the other bad reviews are about. My husband and I had a wonderful stay! If everyone thinks a five minute walk is long, why did you come to the riverWALK? The food was delicious, service was great, room was clean, and staff was very helpful. The only thing that we didn't wholeheartedly enjoy were the unusually small pillows for […] a king-sized bed. The hotel was very nice but for the price I expected a bit more. A mini fridge would have been nice as well as an air conditioner that was real not just a panel on a wall that didn't come on when you turned it on. The bell hops were standing around when we checked in watching us and many others lug our big bags onto the elevator but the valets were […] very prompt and helpful. I recommend valet because it is one block from the public bus station and the self parking garage is right next door to it. Overall it was a nice stay but very bare minimum. They even have mini fridges in most Motels. We got a $5 voucher for food on the last day when they gave us the checkout slip. I was baffled because it expired that day and this would have been nice to have 2 days before so I could have actually used it. Overall nice appeal aesthetically but missing many comforts that less expensive hotels and even motels provide their customers. Read more
