The Omni La Mansión del Rio is located in downtown San Antonio, Texas, overlooking the city's historic Riverwalk. This hacienda-style hotel is three blocks from the Alamo and seven blocks from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. El Mercado, the largest Mexican market place in the United States, is eight blocks from the hotel.
Hotel Features.
The hotel lobby features graceful archways and a wrought-iron staircase. Also embellishing the interior of the hotel are hand-carved concierge and reception desks, and hand-carved cabinets. The Spanish Colonial architecture of the hotel is reflected in its Las Canarias restaurant, serving authentic Old World cuisine in an interior brick-paved courtyard and three verandas descending onto the Riverwalk. Signature entrees include Buffalo Carpaccio with Herbed Quinoa and Texas Blue Crab-Stuffed Swordfish Tempura. The restaurant also offers Sunday champagne brunches. The on-site El Colegio, once home to the St. Mary's College library, now houses a casual American bar that serves morning coffee and evening cocktails. Recreational amenities include a heated outdoor pool with poolside bar, where on Friday afternoon the Mariachi Quiroga group entertains guests with traditional Mexican music. The hotel's partner property offers spa treatments and salon appointments across the Riverwalk via a footbridge. Self parking is available for an extra surcharge.

Guestrooms at the Omni La Mansión del Rio feature beamed ceilings, exposed brick walls and double French doors opening to balconies overlooking the river, courtyard or city. Rooms are fully furnished with custom cotton bedding with triple sheeting, large reading chairs, and glass-topped desks. Marble bathing areas have gilded mirrors, gooseneck faucets and cotton bath linens.

Las Canarias - This restaurant is known for its attentive touches, such as freshly brewed iced tea served with a sprig of mint and a tiny vase of chilled syrup. The romantic, casual setting includes three levels of interior seating. Guests are also served on the courtyard or veranda overlooking the Riverwalk. The menu features American regional fare, including seafood, steaks, and game meats. Open daily, the restaurant also hosts a Sunday brunch.
El Colegio - Once the library of the old St. Mary's College, this casual bar serves coffee specialty drinks in the morning and casual American fare in the evenings.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very nice, but the walls are extremely thin. I could hear the people in the next door room. ZERO Cell phone service. "Only one problem with this hotel..."
There are virtually NO rooms without pedestrian traffic outside the window. Therefor you have to keep your drapes closed at all times unless you want people to be able to look into your room as they pass by. This is a very bad thing about this otherwise lovely hotel. Our stay was awesome! We were three ladies traveling for a week long conference. We had the room with 2 double beds and we got a roll away and had plenty of room to move around. For the price paid, I was very disappointed. TV did not work upon arrival. Cable options were lacking. No pay per view movies. Sink area was not clean upon arrival. Very comfortable Hotel on the riverwalk -would suit romantic weekend. Restaurant highly recommended - had an excellent dinner - wide choice of dishes and extensive winelist. My meal included the best prepared Halibut I have ever tasted.
