"Great place for sightseeing on a budget"
My wife and I arrived very early, 6:00AM, and were directed to take a cab to hotel which the hotel paid for. We then were allowed to check in 9 hours early since there was an open room with two beds - PERFECT! We showered and follwed great directions from desk clerk to a nice breakfast place where all the police were eating (that means you know it is […] good) We had a nice room, superb sevice, polite and friendly and we were only a few blocks from DOWNTOWN and all its attractions such as Saturday Market, Crab Houses, tourist info etc. We walked each of 5 days to and from hotel with no problems. The fantastic museum is directly across the street - what more could we ask for? Coffee was available 24/7 and always hot and tasty. Breakfast wasn't great, but a bagel or two with cream cheese, a good couple of cups of coffee and an orange for the road was more than enough for us to be happy. The office clerk that someone else had complained about in a prior posting was really a neat young guy and helped us a lot with directions, cabs, luggage, tips and advice - couldn't ask for better. It is definitely NOT the Hilton, but it was great for these two retired teachers vacation - Thanks for a wonderful visit - We would book there again in a heartbeat! "The Extended Stay Hotel -- Downtown, Anchorage, AK"
We chose the hotel because it had a swimming pool that our grandchildren could enjoy, and also for its prices. Our room was specifically designed to be accessible (grab bars in the tub, lights with the smoke alarms), which we appreciated. We found it to be located close to the Anchorage Museum of Art and History, within walking distance, and that was […] a wonderful bonus. Not only is the Museum a terrific place to visit, the Muse restaurant is one of the gems of Anchorage. We were pleased that housekeeping, unlike so many hotels, only came to the room once in our five night stay to clean and change towels and sheets, thus meeting our personal environmental objectives. Breakfast was a little chintzy: bagels, coffee and fruit, but with a kitchenette in our room, we had no problems storing yogurt and water for our convenience. The parking is really limited and expensive, but we are learning to expect that when we select a hotel in downtown Anchorage. With free on-street parking after six p.m., we did all right. "Home away from home"
The Extended Stay Hotel room was clean and large with two queen beds and a full refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. It is in the NE corner of downtown, but about six blocks to the middle of downtown. The decor is a bit plastic, but clean. "Extended Stay on Anchorage Alaska"
They had their shuttle to the airport with 15 minutes and after a brief ride and check in we were in our room 45 minutes after landing in Alaska. The room was clean, we didn't need to use the kitchenette but it appeared very clean as well. Because it was summer in Alaska the daylight hours were something to get used to. The room was able to be darkened […] fairly well and we were able to get some shuteye before our wakeup call for another quick shuttle to our early morning pick up.
