This is the second time I have stayed at the Westmark and I will stay here again. The rooms are clean and nice. I would recommend an update on the bed... covers, room 307 has very dated covers. I would also recommend that the bar/restaurant stay open later then 9:00pm. I would have spent $30.00 or $40.00 extra at the hotel if it were open later. Overview

Location.
Poised in the center of downtown Anchorage, Alaska, the contemporary Westmark Anchorage Hotel, a Holland America Line Company, lies adjacent to the dramatically designed Alaska Center for the Performing Arts and across the street from the Imaginarium Science Center. This landmark property is within two blocks of the Egan Convention Center, five blocks from the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and four-and-one-half miles from the floatplanes at Lake Hood and Lake Spenard. A People Mover bus conveniently stops across the street from the property.

Hotel Features.
Red-leather chairs and a glowing fireplace grace the lobby, where large windows allow abundant, ambient light to flood the reception area. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served at the Solstice Bar and Grill, which specializes in steak and fresh Alaskan seafood. A business center and 5 conference rooms are provided, as is complimentary high-speed Internet access at a computer kiosk. A gift shop, just off the lobby, is open seasonally, and a fitness center contains free weights, an elliptical machine and a treadmill.

Guestrooms.
The 200 guestrooms offer mahogany-stained furnishings, framed landscapes, upholstered seating and accents in grey and cream. Each boasts curved-front balconies that afford views of the city, mountains or Cook Inlet. Amenities include TV with cable channels, video game consoles, and wireless Internet access. We had a pleasant stay at the Westmark on our recent trip to Anchorage. Don't typically stay downtown, but it was fine, friendly staff, although the building is older, it was well maintained. We could certainly consider staying there again on a future trip.

The Westmark is comfortable, centrally located and a pretty good bargain. The front desk was not staffed adequately when I arrived (long wait to check in) but I could have hit them on a bad day. The hotel does not offer shuttle service to/from the airport.

Although I couldn't check in very early due to the busyness of the time, it was a convenient stay. The televisions could use an upgrade. There was one channel that caused the tv to blink a few times and shut off. Otherwise, it was quiet as long as the balcony door was shut.

The Westmark is conveniently located downtown, and offers a good deal for the price, if you do not mind a somewhat tired and run down look. The rooms definitely need some renovation work. The service was prompt, the rooms clean, and had all the amenities you would expect. The internet was free but very slow.

The hotel and its location was perfect. In the bathroom I would like to have seen non-skid bathmats or some type of non-skid surface in the bathtub.. The bedspreads looked like they could use some new ones.

Great location but inundated with cruise people during the summer months. stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor if you can so as to not have to wait for the old people taking the elevator and you can use the stairs handily. The beds need to be replaced! The are the old, metal spring kind that are really not that comfortable....

Best:: the location so near to the Anchorage Museum of Art and History, to great dining places like Glacier Brewhouse, and to the Performing Arts Center, as well as to shopping. The worst has to be the parking, which is completely inadequate to a hotel which hosts meetings and on the weekends is usually fully booked. Get in early and you MAY have a […] space in the tiny lot. Arrive (as we usually do) late, and it's the high-rise lot a block away for you. Not fun any time. Never fun at 15 degrees with wind! The failure to grab control of adjacent parking at the opportune time has really cost this hotel. We only reluctantly book here if there are no reasonable options. The hotel is a bit on the older side and the bed was less than great, but the views from the room were amazing and the staff is very friendly! I only stay here in the winter time so the price is very reasonable for that time of year and it is located with in walking distance to all the great spots downtown.

The Westmark in Anchorage was a nice place to stay. Staff were friendly, available instantly. Room was spacious, pleasantly decorated. Bed comfortable. Restaurant was atmospheric and food was good, service was good. Wish they had an airport shuttle and a hospitlaity bar with coffee, juice.

This hotel was great. Location was great, inthe heart of downtown and within walking distance to everywhere you;d want to go. Drawback... PARKING SUCKS. If you leave for a dinner or something late expect to not have a space when you come back. Also they charge per night to park.

Good hotel for the money. Close to all the good downtown activities. Cafe geared toward tourists so I would recommend dining elsewhere. The $8 per day charge for parking is a big turnoff. They should at least hide it in the room charge. I mean, come man!
