"A wonderful location close to where you want to be"
The Inn was clean and comfortable. We checked in on New Year's Eve and Kennebunk was busy! We were 10 minutes from Kennebunkport where we were having dinner. Room was small but sufficient, bathroom small...but shower was good. "Clean Quirky inn"
It is an old house and its very quirky. Floors aren't level and creak, bathrooms are sometimes old fixtures, etc. The doors and as a result, patrons, can be loud. The Kennebunk Inn was a great spot to relax, enjoy a lovely lobster pie dinner and fresh baked cookies daily! We love old hotels and inns. They have such charm and history. The decor was very nice. It is a pet friendly and we had to listen to a barking dog for hours at bedtime as the owner was out to dinner. We feel that pets are OK but not unattended. It was noted that the patio and the sidewalk needed to be swept as there were sand, dirt and twigs on the […] ground. My husband & I enjoyed our stay at the Hotel. The staff was very friendly and polite. Wasn't really a big fan of the two flights of stairs. Our room was clean and comfy. Wasn't a large room and thought it was a bit overpriced. No breakfast on Sundays or anydays, no pool,not much around as far as stores. The innkeepers at the Kennebunk Inn are obviously trying very hard to create a tasteful ambiance in this historic inn. They have modernized as appropriate while still allowing the inn to maintain its 1799 charm. The owners are trained chefs and are principally interested in running the attached restaurant, which we did not sample, but which I have no […] reason to believe is not excellent. While I would recommend this inn to anyone and will consider staying there again, I must offer some constructive criticism. We came back to the inn at 9:30 at night and found that a large party had evidently rented quite a few rooms. These people were shouting to one another, talking, laughing - in short, having a great time. We had hoped to go to sleep early. By 11:20 I called the front desk. The noise subsided somewhat and by 12:30 they were all quiet. Needless to say, we spent the next day sleep deprived. The inn needs a policy on large parties (e.g., wedding parties must rent the entire inn or not at all!) and be vigilant about quieting guests down and/or providing them with an alternate room downstairs in which to visit rather than in the hallways outside other people's bedrooms. The hotel emphasised the "historic" character of the building and its restaurant. The first night the restaurant was full so we had to eat at the bar, the next two nights it was shut - but on the last night it was a good meal in pleasant surroundings.
