Located adjacent to the Grand Ole Opry, the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn., spans over 40 acres of running streams, cascading waterfalls, pedestrian bridges and 12 greenhouses. The hotel is adjacent to the General Jackson Showboat and across the street from the Opry Mills Mall.

Dining options include the Old Hickory Steakhouse that welcomes dinner guests, while the Cascades Restaurant specializes in seafood entrees and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Libations are served in the Jack Daniel's saloon, Irish Pub, and a revolving atrium lounge. A staffed business center, event catering, complimentary high-speed Internet access and meeting space all accommodate special events and corporate functions.
This grand hotel features the European-designed Relache Spa, a 27,000-square-foot spa and fitness center that has an indoor/outdoor pool and 12 private treatment rooms, with unique services such as golf pedicures, mother-to-be massages, sunless tanning and salon extras designed just for children. Flatboats are provided for guests to float through the Delta gardens or listen poolside to DJs at the on-site radio station. The concierge desk books restaurant reservations and obtains show tickets. Airport shuttle (surcharge) is available at scheduled times.

"Friendly, Clean, Romantic."
I surprised my wife with a stay here for our 1 year wedding anniversary. Neither of us had been to Gaylord Opryland before, but we certainly had high expectations going in. The hotel staff were friendly, the hotel was beautiful and very clean! We originally had planned to take a shuttle to downtown for the night, but there was so much to see and do […] on the resort grounds, that we just decided to stay put! Glad we did, because we LOVED our dinner and our walk around the gardens afterwards. ..One thing I will mention, you can expect a $18 a night resort fee (access to pools, water bottles in the room, shuttle service, etc..) which you can't decline. So expect $18 a night on top of room rate. Also, expect a $20 a day self parking fee. In other words, $20 a day to park. Since we were just staying the one night, and it was our anniversary, we didn't give that much thought. However, if you were staying several nights, those fees could add up rather quickly ;-) .. Something the staff did that really impressed us.. We received a hand written card under our door, congratulating us on our 1 year wedding anniversary, and lettings us know they had added a $50 credit to our account to use on anything during our stay at the hotel, as a gift for our anniversary! "Availability"
This was my second stay at Opryland resort in 4 months. On both occasions the room I booked was not available. The first time we were given complimentary dinner vouchers. On the recent stay, the booked room was not available, and they gave me a handcap room. Unacceptable for the visit. They eventually gave me a room that was not the booked room. Loved the city-within-a-city feel to the indoor area. Excellent decor and landscaping throughout the grounds. The Gaylord hotel overbooked and did not have a room available upon are arrival whereupon they offered to allow us to sleep on a "sofa bed" in some "mysterious" location in the hotel and a $100 credit toward any purchases in the hotel restaurants or gift shops. Hotel is beautiful. We knew prices would be high but not that high. We would have rather the up front cost of the room include all the add on instead of finding out about them at check in. The Gaylord Opryland Hotel is an excellant place to stay for a getaway, especially during Christmas. The decorations and indoor atriums and arboretums are wonderful. We enjoyed our stay. The only complaint I had was that I was charged $15/day resort fee plus tax and $20 per day plus tax to self park. On my two night stay this amounted to $78. "Underwhelmed."
Expect hidden fees! I was charged a resort fee above and beyond what I paid when I booked my room. This was in spite of the fact that I had no plans to make use of the fitness room or pool. If you drive to this hotel, you will be required to pay for uncovered, self-parking when they have a huge outdoor lot with an overabundance of space. Valet parking […] is available, something I would have considered, but the outrageously long line of vehicles stacked outside of the hotel lobby/valet area make this a frustrating proposition if you plan on using your vehicle much during your stay. Keep in mind that everything in the hotel will cost at least double what it should for half the quality, but the remoteness and size of the hotel doesn't lend itself to dining out unless you go to the mall nearby. Expect confusion every step of the way until you've been there a while to get your bearings. It's very easy to get lost and there is very little guidance or assistance from staff unless you know what to ask and from whom. Lastly, although I booked a room with a king bed, upon arriving to my room, I found they had placed me in a room with two double beds and a view of the dumpsters. They did this without asking or telling me that the room type that I had reserved was being summarily ignored. It took at least a half hour of being on hold and waiting before I was finally moved to a room with a king bed as originally selected. In the future, I don't expect to ever stay here again. "not nowing where the shops where"
Other than my husband being lost in the hotel for over an hour and he had asked for assistance and nobody would direct him to the right spot and also the exit signs on the third floor where hangin not by much and we did mention it when we checked out. I looked up the best rated hotels in Nashville and was surprised when the Gaylord Opryland hotel was only number 8 on the list. I believe the rankings must be skewed or based purely on likeability of the rooms because the Gaylord Opryland hotel has the absolute best overall experience of almost any hotel I've ever stayed at! This hotel is awesome. 2 gardens with a river through them and a street of shops. All INSIDE. It's like 4 separate hotels (all larger than a normal hotel) All connected together. Indoor and outdoor pools, and the spa tub (outside) is huge. One thing though...the food is super expensive in all of the restaurants. "4 stars ends when you enter your room"
We live in the Nashville area and have visited the Opryland complex many times to shop, eat, etc. This was our first and last time we would stay at the hotel. The quality of the room nowhere lives up to one's expectations of a 4 star hotel. Bedding was subpar, pillows and mattress were not comfortable. The room appeared empty and missing furnishings […] with large sections of the room with nothing in them. The resort charges numerous additional fees to add to the cost of a stay (parking and resort fees) then takes steps to try and force you to spend even more such as. No coffee maker in room Disabled HDMI ports on the TV to prevent laptop connections. Overall one would be much better off staying in another hotel nearby and then parking at the mall next to the opryland hotel for free and walking to the hotel if needed for an event or dinner or otherwise.
