Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel

Everything was OK until the fire warning alarm goes off. Everybody rush to go down and found out that only a few employee works at night. Nobody meet at outside to explain what's going until somebody went to complain to the front desk. Only 4 employee I saw that night.

The recent renovation of the King Kamehameha Hotel is still in the renovation phase as there was construction being done on the weekend just outside the pool area in the Spa. There was hammering and saw squelling while tryign to relax at the pool. The room was nice but the bathroom wasn't very clean. The bed was super uncomfortable. Much of the hotel was still under construction even though the description included "recently renovated", the work was not complete. It appeared they will be adding new shops in the lobby area, the floors were torn up and the walls were boarded up. There was also repair work under way to the outside grounds due to the tsunami in March which affected […] their normal luau location and is now being held in a courtyard between the buildings . The courtyard had sparse landscaping and no flowers that you would expect to see at a Hawaiian hotel. The hotel looked a little beat up as we pulled in, but we were desperate for our vacation (our first in 13 1/2 years) and enthusiastic to get started. As we walked in we realized something was up. The entire lobby was without carpet. Construction and painting was in progress. Lobby areas were blocked off. At the pool/restaurant area there were areas […] blocked off with plywood, yellow caution tape, etc. We were then told the hotel had experienced damaged from the Tsunami from Japan's March earthquake. We are not without understanding. I'm sure this is devastating to a business. I think we would have liked to know ahead of time so we could know what we were in for and perhaps adjust our plans. The hotel rooms are cramped but comfortable enough and the poolside restaurant was mediocre food and service. We enjoyed the tourist location of shops and restaurants nearby and the little private beach/boat area was a nice plus. We were not ever able to get on the "free wireless". I asked to borrow a bottle opener from the front desk and was grumpily told I would be charged $35 if I did not return it. Read more

The bar at the pool was odd. Waitress was high or drunk and drinks took probably 40 minutes even though it wasn't busy. The manager came over twice to ask us if we had our drinks. Waitress was very unprofessional talking about how she was going to get fired today. Very odd experience...never had an experience like that before. Grounds in need of sprucing […] up, poor showing, lobby not great either. Rooms were fine, no problems there at all though I did somehow lose a brush...can't figure out why the housekeeper would take it but no other explanation...if we returned would not stay in Kona but in Waikola next time as weather better there as are services..... I would not stay here again. While the room was nice, the manager was not. He was rude and not customer service oriented. The hotel also charges $10 a day for parking for guests. I hate when hotels nickel and dime guests. I had several incidents at the hotel where I was made to feel my stay there was not important to them. I'm on vacation!!! I want […] to feel welcome! 改装後ということでとても期待していましたが、いまひとつの感想です。 フロントは、女性スタッフはとても丁寧で良い接客でした。特に日本人の女性のフロントスタッフ数名は、丁寧な言葉遣いと気遣いで、日本でもかなり高レベルではないかと思うほどでした。 現地の男性スタッフがとても愛想が悪く、この方のせいで印象が悪くなりました。 12/29のチェックインでしたが、チェックインの時間を過ぎても部屋の用意が出来ず、ロビーで待たされました。清掃が終わっていないと、あとどのくらい待てば良いのかという説明もなく、またお詫びの一言も有りませんでした。この男性は笑顔も無く、印象最悪です。 部屋は、臭いがとても気になりました。バスルームの下水の臭いだと思いますが、廊下では何も感じないのに、部屋のドアが開いた途端にもあ […] ～と臭かったです。年末の混雑した時期で無ければ交渉して部屋を替えてもらったのですが、それも無理そうだったので諦めました。 広さはこのレベルならまぁまぁですが、ソファがありません。デスクのセットが一組あるだけです。 ツインを選択しましたが、ベッドの間がかなり広く、スーツケースを２つ広げられました。 ビューはそのプランに寄るのでしょうが、ほとんどオーシャンビューにはならないと思います。建物の形状で、オーシャンビューはほんの一部のみのはずです。後は、コの字に立っているので、お向かいの建物ビュー、シティビュー、裏のパーキングビュー、林ビューでしょうか。 ラナイ（ベランダ）はビューはどうであれ、テーブルとイス２つのセットが置いてありました。 窓に網戸などはありません。開けているとすぐ虫が入って来ました。 立地は素晴らしく、アリィドライブの散策にはぴったりです。 海岸沿いをゆっくりお散歩し、途中でシェイブアイスを食べたり、ハワイ最古の教会や宮殿を見学したり、お土産屋さん巡りをしたり。 ホテルには小さいながら浜辺も有り、岸からお魚を探すことも出来るほどキレイな海でした。 ホテルの内外にハワイ王朝の歴史を感じさせてくれる展示物があり、荘厳な雰囲気があります。 レストランは、朝食のみ利用しましたが、スタッフがてきぱきと動いて、とても南の島のスタッフとは思えない素晴らしい働きぶりでした。ブッフェですが、お皿が全然テーブルの上に残りません。 最終日が早朝のフライトだったため、ボックスミールをお願いしたところ、６時のオープン時間少し前に中に入れてくれ、ボックスに自分でブッフェから詰めさせてくれました。コーヒーも付けてくれました。女の子のスタッフでしたが、笑顔で対応してくれて、最後に良い印象となりました。 ブッフェ自体は、そんなに種類もありませんでしたが、オムレツを目の前でシェフが焼いてくれるサービスがありました。フルーツも数種類ありましたが、不思議なことにサラダ類が全くありませんでした。世界中旅行していますが、サラダバーが無い朝食ブッフェは初めてです。 白米、炒飯、オートミール、パン、パンケーキと主食が豊富だと思いました。 また、お味噌汁もあり日本人が飲んでも違和感の無いレベルです。 一部オープンエアになっていて浜辺で気持ちの良い朝食が頂けます。 お部屋に期待せず、短期の宿泊なら立地だけを考えれば、宿泊しても良いと思います。 Read more

部屋のバスタブにびっくり。泥だか錆だかか分かりませんが、ばらばらと落ちていて、指でこすっても落ちないこびり付きがあるほどでした。フロントに注意して、すぐ掃除の対応をしてもらいましたが、消毒剤で拭いた程度でした。確かに、泥はとれましたが、バスタブの茶色い黄ばみ？は落ちず、バスタブに浸かって疲れを取る気にもなるわけもなく、とても不快な思いをしました。多少のことでしたらしょうがないかと我慢もしますが、今回のようなホテルの清潔度は致命傷、二度ととまる気にはなれません。
