"Great little Hotel...Free cocktails and breakfast!"
Oxford Suites @ Gladstone was clean, quaint and full of unexpected treats. When we checked in late in the afternoon the helpful woman at the front desk gave us tickets for free drinks and snacks to be served later that evening next to the lobby. We each were treated to 2 cocktails (wine, beer or soft drinks) and there was a nice buffet of veggies and […] dip, and cheese and crackers. The room itself was clean and it overlooked the nice river that runs along the back of the hotel. Although the traffic beyond the river was very noisy it was still a nice view. If we had more time we would have made the short trek down the slope to check out the river from the rocks below, as we had seen other people do. Despite the volume of the traffic, the sliding glass door on the patio kept out the noise incredibly well. The free breakfast the next morning was great, too. We did check out the hot tub, which was good fun. Overall the hotel was nice and clean, which is a big deal for me. Everything smelled fresh. It was conveniently located near lots of restaurants and it was even shared a parking lot with Safeway. I'd stay here again. It was well worth the money. We had an overnight stay in Portland area and found the Oxford on Expedia. It was close to the event we were attending so we chose to stay there. The hotel was warm and clean when we arrived. The room was spotless and the accomodations were better than many we have stayed at. I got up too early the next morning so breakfast had not started yet, but […] they told me to go on in the dining area and have some coffee while the food was being prepared. The food was very good. I was exhausted from a grueling business trip upon arrival and the desk clerk was extremely kind and helpful. The room looked beautiful, artfully folded towels, very clean. "Quiet with a view."
The room, a studio, was compact but more than adaquate. The floor level shower was a plus. We had a river view. The freeway, I-205, was loud; but you couldn't hear it inside the room. "Large motel in a small village"
Oxford is a very comfortable motel, close to freeway and services. It is located in the nicely quaint village of Gladstone, near Portland, Oregon. A great river view, but marred by the freeway view that comes with it. It is extremely close, but the soundproofing in the room kept all the noise out.
