"over-hyped disappointment"
Completely disappointed. Reservation center, which serves as the front desk, was 1 1/2 miles away from our room. If we got locked out of our room or needed some assistance, we were out of luck. The overall appearance was depressing. Plus they hit me with a reservation fee without my knowledge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beware of hidden charges"
Great Place ... but beware of hidden charges. I was hit with "Resort Charges" and "Cleaning Fees" ... I assumed that when I booked with Hotels.com that the Cleaning Fees were included. So BEWARE.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rip Off"
No room service in the condos. In fact, you pay more in your resort fee to have it cleaned when you leave. Too far from the beach. No one asked to help with our bags. Unheated pool after we called and they told us otherwise. No carts to help you move your luggage to the rooms. No sign of "resort" service or luxury anywhere. Free towels at the pool but […] if you go to the beach you can buy them for $15 each. At least give me a kiss while I'm getting ripped off. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Much better options on property"
Hotel was in need of an update. Paid for a bay view and when we checked in at 8 pm they said our room wasn't ready yet and would it be OK if they put us in another room. After dinner we went to the room and found we were now on the ground floor with a parking lot view. Front desk closed and we were stuck. Will call the resort direct next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't bother!"
We saved our Sandestin experience for the end of our two week family vacation --- looking forward to relaxing at the beach. Our family of five arrived at Sandestin to find that they were expecting only two people (even though we had added the ages of each of our 3 children as required to book on Expedia). It was advertised as a 2 bedroom condo that […] "sleeps six". It had beds for four!! Our daughter had to sleep on the floor. The rates were so high (and had to be paid in advance) that we should have all had Tempur-pedics with satin sheets! On arrival, they charged us $173 for "cleaning fees" when the reservation clearly states the cleaning fees would be $100 or less. I am not sure what they used the cleaning fees for, but the place was NOT CLEAN when we arrived. There were dried urine stains on the toilet seat, a big dead spider on the kitchen floor, nice fluffy dust bunnies hanging from the tips of the leaves on their faux plants, and a filthy drip pan from the stove placed decoratively on the table in the entryway! Very chic. The shower curtain in the "master bath" had been recently replaced with a very smelly see-through vinyl affair with colorful fish -- much like you might see in a pool cabana, not an upscale resort bathroom. Plus it made the whole place smell like cheap vinyl. We did contact the fron desk staff, and were met with an arsenal of "I'm sorries", but NO SOLUTIONS! And the coup de grace ---- they charged us $30 for a roll away bed the WE NEVER GOT! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel charged us additional taxes after checking in so our rate ended up being much higher. This hotel was way overpriced did not look renovated. Staff not helpful rooms semi clean Sandestin should really rethink this brand hotel. Will not stay here againGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Would not recommend unless you enjoy challenges."
The hotel gave us an occupied room upon check-in, was not aware previous occupant had not checked-out, lost electricity on Saturday for 5 hours (7am-12noon) so room became extremely hot, no showers. Housekeeping arrived at 10:00pm to make up room. The tram system did not pick us up where designated, walked for 2 miles to get; then driver argued about […] where it will pick up (this was after we were dropped off by a tram at designated point and assured we could get one from there. Also, the map and web-site alludes to usage of POOLS but can't use any but the very small pool next to the Bayside Inn, that has changed its name to Le Ciel. Hotel is located miles from the beach, have to drive or rely on an unreliable tram that stops picking up at the beach at 5:00. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Fees Add Up!"
The resort fee was bad, pitiful and insulting. The cleaning fee was the deciding factor for us not to return again! We were lead to believe that there was a minimum and maximum range for this cleaning fee based on the condition of the room. Not so...checking our bill I found that we were charged $68 the first day!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good Luck!"
The hotel itself is beautiful, however, the Customer Service ruins it. I experienced the worst Customer Service. I requested an early check in, which did not happen. I was told that my room had a leaky air conditioning unit and that the resort was full, and they would try to "work it out". Then I was advised that there were 3 open rooms, however, no […] one bothered to clean them because "guests weren't coming". I did not get into my room until 6:00pm, when I arrived at 12:30. Lastly, there were 3 groups of people that experienced, or were experiencing the same issues with me, related to the rude staff and their issues not being addressed. For the money I paid, I do not recommend this place. It's a nice hotel, but once you've experienced the resort's customer service, you feel like you're at a Motel 6. Good luck is all I have to say if you decide to stay here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Really bad customer service"
The resort is beautiful. The beaches are gorgeous. This particular hotel is being remodeled; the rooms around us had workers since early in the morning. The rooms are small, they claim to have kitchenette, but all they have is a sink and a coffee maker. The really bad part was the service. The front desk personal had no idea about customer service. […] We requested information about what was included in a fee that they charge you upon arrival and the girl was really rude, roughly explained the amenities we were paying for and gave us wrong information about the resort areas. She was really disrespectful. It was a very bad experience. We ask again next day after being lost for an hour trying to find a place the girl marked incorrectly in a resort map and nobody in the front desk could gave us information. We might stay at the resort again but never in this hotel. Definitely not worth the savings, pay a little bit more and get what you deserve as a customer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worst room I have ever stayed in."
The room was not a bay view as advertised. It was a smelly, moist, and dreadfully decorated villa. Nothing worked in the room including the coffee pot.Genuine Expedia guest review
"VERY disappointed"
It seems that since we went during the "off-season" we were subjected to a lower level of service. While the overall resort grounds were nice, the hotel we stayed in was undergoing renovations and left A LOT to be desired. The floors were left dirty from the construction going on during the day, the hot water took about 10 minutes to come through in […] the morning, and there was not a current listing of what facilities were open when (helpful since it was the off-season). I don't know why the few of us staying in this building weren't relocated to another building that wasn't under renovation. The front desk was not even manned, we had to call down to the building that was 2 miles away. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I was NOT pleased with the hotel at all. When I booked the it I was NOT informed that is was a condo that was personally owned and being time-shared out. "No motorcycles allowed on property"
The subject says it all. This wasn't spelled our very clearly in our reservations thru hotel.com. There is parking for motorcycles at the front gate. You have to call a shuttle and/or take the tram. "Not Impressed at all...Nothing like the Hilton across the street under Sandestin Golf and Beach Reso"
We requested a bay view and received a view of the parking lot. Not ready to end our vacation yet, we went to see the workers at the front desk at Bayside Inn to extend our stay, but in a room with a bay view. We were told that a room was available on the 7th floor and that it was put on hold for us so that the only thing we would need to do was turn […] in our old room keys and receive the new keys to the room with the bay view. Well it never happened! As it stands our room was already stuffy and full of mold in the bathroom. Since we did not want to be charged for canceling our reservation, we sucked it up and put in for a new room. To make matters worse, when we went to do the exchange, all rooms were booked, the worker who supposedly held the room on the 7th floor never did put a hold on the room, instead he held the same moldy room that we already suffered to stay in. What put the icing on the cake for us was that there were no other rooms on the property available for us either. To put it bluntly, were were not pleased and I will never book at this hotel again. i've stayed in 1 star hotels for business trips and even though this hotel is ranked 4 stars, it's not better than the 1 star hotels. very dingy, dark, musty room. desk and wall lamps used almost all of the electrical outlets so, i had to use small extension cords to run my computer, printer, cell phone charger, etc.Genuine Expedia guest review
"OVER RATED"
The Hotel grounds are too big to be an intimate experience. The buildings aren't clearly marked making it confusing to find. Depending on what bldg ur in, designates what pool you can use. NONE of the codes they gave us to access beach area or pools didnt work. Half The paths and sidewalks led to service area's or dead ends. It felt like being a mouse […] trapped in a maze. Most of the units are condo rentals or residential suites. The hotel key wasnt programmed or the door battery was dead they werent sure, none the less we were unable to access our assigned room. Finding us another room took entirely too long. We arrived at 12:45Am By the time we actually got into another room it was 3AM. Plus I had paid for a beachside view room & the room I was moved to had a view of the grilling area and NO OCEAN VIEW. (the porter told me if i looked closely thru the palm leaves i could see a hint of the beach) :( When i spoke to front desk following morning. They didnt offer to compensate me for the room or another nights stay. He gave 3-breakfast vouchers @on-site "another broken egg" cafe' That had a 30 minute wait, once our buzzer went off, we proceeded toward the hostess. Their were ppl in front of us so once they cleared we handed our buzzer & gave name. The hostess said, "oh crap we just seated the wrong people" So agian we stood for another 30 minutes as we watched group after group be seated. Tho the breakfast was extremely good and the Sandestin grounds beautiful. EVERYTHING about the stay was frustrating and I couldnt get gone fast enough!!! "Doesn't honor expedia requests"
We payed for and reserved a bay view room as well as a king bed. When we arrived at the hotel, we were given a resort view room and 2 twin beds. I went to the front desk to work out the room details and found out a lot about the hotel as well as how they view expedia reservations. They first told me that everything that is booked through expedia doesn't […] match the hotels computer system there, so they really aren't able to guarantee requests. When I pointed out that I payed for a bay view room and that was not a "request" but a room I payed more money for they apologized and said that the entire hotel was booked and they could not move us that night but could move us the next morning. We have a small baby and a lot of luggage since we were staying there for several days, so it was a real hassle to move all of our belongings again. It took four hours to straighten our room reservation out, so the first day of our vacation was basically ruined. The front desk is really disconnected too, a lot of days there was no one even at the front desk, so if there is ever an issue with the room or housekeeping, there is really no one to talk to face to face most days. We had other family staying in a different room in the hotel and they didn't get housekeeping most days. We were lucky that on our floor our housekeeper was great and took care of most of our needs. "Overpriced, Bad Experience"
The entire experience was not what I expected. At check-in I was told that 1)the price I paid through Expedia did not include maid service, 2) there would be a $50 room cleaning fee, and 3) there would be an additional $33 per day charge for "resort fee". Well, I thought I was already paying lots BECAUSE this place is a resort. The room was like a small […] apartment and has not been redecorated since the 1970's and it was not very clean. The air conditioner was noisy. The restaurants add 17% to every bill. At check-in, I was provided a key card to get me through the various gates to different pools, etc. At the first gate I came to, I tried to use the card, but couldn't get through. An employee came over and explained that the cards "don't always work very well". Bad experience with this hotel. I won't be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
