We booked online and there was no negotiations for upgrading. No view at all and no private balcony on the first floor. Had to have maintenance replace the lock on the outside door first thing. This hotel was a great find. The room was very nice, although both of us thought the bed was too firm... maybe that should be the beds was too hard. The location is great, you can walk to everything. "clean and kept up for how old it is."
My wife and I had a great stay at the Shiloh at Ocean Shores. The room was clean and maintained. Had some updated features and could use some more such as updated TV, but it worked. "Great stay"
I liked everything about it except the sad fish-tank. Not many fish, the rock fish in there was almost dead and all the coral was fake and knocked on its side. "Not what we expected."
Growing up, we never came here due to the Inn's price tag. Upon arriving, our room was not ready [mind you, we arrived after check in, the room should have been ready] whereus our friends room was the same King suite and ready. There was no cont. breakfast, or amenities. Basic shampoo and soaps, towels. I think the price mostly comes from the decorations […] and art. We were surrounded by loud yapping dogs, and there was no silverware in the room, or dishes. The hot water was out down the hall. There were marks and dings in the wall, and the fireplace does not even have a real fire. Fine for kids and concerned parents, but the room layout has little privacy- the beds are right next to each other. The sands has a section with an apartment layout, same price. "Was a relaxing stay....."
Our stay here was pretty nice. Our first night we had a heavy foot in the room above so was abit irritating. May want a room on the top floor next time. "Not like it used to be."
We used to love coming to stay at the Shilo Hotel in Ocean Shores. However, our last stay was not quite up to the standards that we usually expect here. For starters, the fish tank in the lobby is DIRTY. Algae everywhere, and I could only see 3 fish in this 20 foot tank, which makes me wonder if the condition of the tank had killed them all off. The […] pool is also dirty looking. The bottom of it is covered in brown, and although it doesn't come off when you step on it, it's still fairly gross to see when you are swimming in it. The rooms are mostly clean, our water glasses had a gross aftertaste to them, and I wish there was the option of disposable cups for this reason. The toilets looked dirty, but I'm pretty sure that it's just because they are so old that they are stained. The television sets are TINY, and completely outdated. On the upside, the beds are ok, mostly comfortable. The restaurant, which used to be really good, was not great, the food that we had was not good enough to finish. Everytime we go to the ocean this is the hotel that we stay at and we are always normally happy with it. this time however, not so much. My husband and i went to by ourself without our three kids, as it was our first anniversary. This is also the first time that we at at the shilo resturant for breakfast. Well my husband ordered the Shilo Skillet, and […] its not llike your typical skillet that you would get, that was not explanied to us and it wasnt what my husband wanted after seeing it, so he ordered something different. Well apparently the executive chef was not happy about it and went out of his way to get a skillet plate to come prove his point that that was the way the shilo skillet was and was super rude about it, not to mention completely embarrassing to my husband and i, and not a good start to our anniversary... needless to say we wont be eating at that resturant again!! But the hotel on the other hand is good, weve never had a problem with it... i just wish they had a free continetial breakfast, especially for as much as you pay for the price of the room! We were very impressed with the suite. It had 3 TV's, one in the bathroom. Our room had a lovely separate sitting area with a wet bar. Our king size bed with soft linens was very comfortable. "Escaping The Heat"
When we left home, about 1 and 1/2 hrs from beach it was 98 degress, the beach was 68 and foggy, it felt wonderful and refreshing. We got to the hotel 2 hours before check in time, but to our happiness our room was reading. The rooms are very spacious, they are a bit dated. # TV's(1 in bathroom) and 2 in main area.
