The condominium resort occupies a scenic stretch of golden-sand beach. Although corals make swimming difficult off the resort';s own beach, numerous water activities are available within two miles. Tunnels Beach is a popular swimming beach one mile from the resort, while coral-covered lava tubes and reefs make Tunnels Beach and Kee Beach, 2.75 miles from the resort, prime spots for snorkeling and diving.
Guests at Hanalei Colony receive preferred rates for tee times at two of Hawaii's top golf courses, both designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and located nine miles from the condominium resort. The Prince Course offers 18 challenging holes of golf integrated with nature. The Makai Course consists of three nine-hole courses that can be played in any combination. Hanalei Bay has one of the world's longest and most challenging surf breaks; winter is the high season for surfers. Anini Beach, 12 miles away, is one of Kauai's top spots for windsurfing, as is the more challenging Haena Beach, 1.75 miles from the resort. Other popular water activities available near the condominium resort include fishing, rafting, ocean and river kayaking, and sailing. The resort has an outdoor pool and spa tub; yoga classes are offered through the Hanalei Day Spa. The recreational activities listed below are available on site or nearby; fees may apply.

Die Anlage rühmt sich seit den 60ern zu bestehen, nunja so sind auch die Zimmer, Da hat man teilweise das Gefühl, dass seit dieser Zeit nichts gemacht wurde. Die Möbel und Küche inkl. Küchengeräte sind veraltet - Ausnahme: Mikrowelle - und stinken teilweise wie vermodert. Teilweise kam wegen der Feuchtigkeit auch die Tapete von der Wand. Zimmerservice […] - was das? Wir waren 6 Nächte dort und unser Zimmer wurde 1 Mal gereinigt bzw. die Handtücher gewechselt. Es gib auch nicht durchgängig Fenster, sondern teilweise - ich weiss gar nicht ob die Bezeichnung richtig ist - Holzlammellenfenster. Es hat folglich die ganze Nacht gepfiffen und gezogen. Es gibt kein Fernsehen oder Radio, nur mehr oder weniger gut funtionierendes WLAN Jedoch, die Lage an der Nordküste ist klasse und die Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich. direkt am Meer (Baden jedoch kaum möglich wegen zu hoher Wellen und teilweisen Steinküste), ca. 5 Minuten bis Tunnels Beach bzw. zum berühmten Trail an der Westküste entlang oder in die andere Richtung nach Hanalei auch nur 10 Minuten. Ein Auto ist sehr zu empfehlen, da man sonst sehr eingeschränkt ist. Alles in allem passt u.E. einfach das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht.
