The Adolphus Hotel, a downtown historic hotel in Dallas, Texas, is located in the heart of the city's business district, close to the Convention Center and the Arts District. The Dallas World Aquarium, Dallas Farmers’ Market and Dallas Museum of Art are situated half a mile from the hotel. The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is within three blocks.
Hotel Features.
The French Room chefs prepare dishes using seasonal ingredients in a fine-dining atmosphere that includes crystal chandeliers, domed ceilings, and cherub-adorned murals. This formal-attire restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday though Saturday evenings. Reservations are required. The Bistro and the Walt Garrison Rodeo Bar & Grill offer dining from menus that feature Texas favorites. Afternoon tea is served in the Lobby Living Room amid Queen Anne furnishings. Positioned in the Lobby Living Room, an 1893 Victorian Steinway piano was formerly owned by the Guggenheims. More than 24,000 square feet of function space includes the 5,300-square-foot Grand Ballroom. A staffed business center houses 6 computer stations and offers a full range of business services. Wireless Internet access is available in some public areas for a surcharge. A gift shop stocks everything from whimsical tea pots to premium cigars. The 24-hour fitness center contains cardiovascular and weight-training equipment.
Guestrooms.
The Adolphus Hotel offers 422 accommodations distributed on 23 floors. Guestrooms include antique furnishings, separate sitting areas, and walk-in closets. Beds feature pillowtop mattresses, 250-thread count cotton sheets, feather pillows, and French-designed bedspreads. Marble bathrooms contain deep bathtubs and separate showers, or shower/tub combinations. Bathrooms feature curved shower rods, rain-forest showerheads, makeup mirrors and brass-accented fixtures. Rooms include flat-screen televisions, DVD and CD players, and high-speed wired and wireless Internet access (surcharge).

"Good stay"
We wanted to stay in downtown Dallas for a few days during our visit. This hotel was in a great location & allowed us to walk (less than a mile) to the The Dallas aquarium, dealey plaza & many restaurants. It's an older historic building but well maintained. "At the heart of Dallas"
Awesome Hotel, we enjoyed our stay and the convenience of valet parking and room service, employees were very nice, our double bed room was spacious, we got an awesome view of the front of the hotel on the 17th floor the only thing I didn't like much was the standard mattresses, they were to wiggly, I wish they would upgrade to more firmer, memory foam […] kind of mattress, but then this is just my personal taste, the bedding was awesome, soft and clean. "Central Location and elegant"
Stayed with my 3 sons, great hot showers, comfy beds/pillows, and wonderful historical value. Lot's of subtle historical tones through out that give it that old world appeal...like tea time, valet/bell hop service, but with modern nuiances that Texan in nature-See the restaurant options. The hotel is central Dallas and not far from the Cotton Bowl/Fair, […] Southwest Airline, or Downtown. Many sub shops and restaurants in the area, as well as several sculptures and small pedestrian parks for liesure strolls. We had booked a double room for 4, 3 adults and 1child. When we arrived they informed us that all they had was a king bed. Three adults and 1 child cannot sleep on a king. They looked a little closer and decided to offer the executive suite, at another $30.00 per night! It honestly did not look like an executive room. It was big enough but not up to […] date on its decor at all. We were continuously given 2 towels per day for 4 people! We had to call them each day to get more. One of the comforters had either chocolate or dried blood on it, clearly not having been washed recently. A very historical hotel, you have to love old buildings to like this place. If you want modern and hip, its not for you. Rooms were large and comfortable. We asked to stay on the haunted floor (daughters request) I asked with a grin to the front desk. We chose this hotel to be close to 45 to head to Houston on Christmas morning. We were greeted upon arrival and helped to our room. The room wasn't outdated but you could tell by the bathroom that the fixtures, tub, plumbing were older. Unfortunately the executive suites at the Adolphus are merely a slightly larger room with a half wall and a couch on the other side. Not a true suite with ability to close off part of the room. My daughter and I had reservations for the weekend, apron arrival in my personal vehicle we were over looked. Checking took awhile, there was a line and only one desk clerk. "In short: disaster"
Despite my 1 star rating, there were some redeeming qualities about the hotel - the staff tried, at least a little bit, to resolve some issues that came up. It was also smack in the middle of downtown so easy way to get to just about everything. That being said, this hotel is a total disaster. 1. Despite the fact that I stated I need two queen beds […] because I was going to have 4 people (two adults and two kids), we arrived only to find ourselves in a room with a single queen size room. Few calls to the front desk revealed that there was no available room in a hotel with two queen sized beds. But, they were bring up two sleeping cots. OK. 2. After about 30 minutes, I'm told that the sleeping cots cannot be brought up because we're on the 20th floor which is a split level and cots cannot be brought over the stairs. 3. We're put into a different room with two full beds. 4 people in 2 full sized beds - not a good combo. So they also bring in a sleeping cot. 4. I call the front desk and ask for an extra set of sheets, pillows and blankets, for the cot. 30 minutes later (it's almost 1 AM at this point and we just drove 3 hours with kids), I call downstairs and tell them to forget it as it is too late but am promised it'll be in our room the following day. 5. In the morning, we find that there is no cold water at all in the shower or in the toilet. There is cold water in the sink, but not shower or toilet. While the toilet flushing steaming hot water makes for an interesting experience, the absolute hot water in the shower is a total bummer. 6. At the same time, we find out that the room has only 1 bath towel, and 2 face towels - again, for 4 people. 7. As we now have to take an elevator during the daytime (as opposed to night time when we checked in) we find that the 5 tiny elevators in the hotel take forever and you have to let a few go by before you can catch one empty. From the moment you enter the hotel you know you're somewhere not everyone gets to enjoy. The beautiful decor, the warm hospitality, and the adornment of every little detail makes the Adolphus jump out as a diamond in the middle of downtown Dallas. We had 2 problems during our stay. 1) The air conditioner was loud and did not adequately cool the room. 2) We came in after 8PM. and no maid had cleaned. I called the Hotel clerk , reported this, and told them to just bring clean towels. They did . My husband and I went out for 30 minutes and came back and the maid was there cleaning. We were not aware that the hotel charges a big price for parking. Also we had a room with (2) double beds. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and we did not get a good night sleep. "HANDICAP PARKING TAG MISSING"
I CALLED THE ADOLPHUS LAST WEEK ON 1-12-11 AND SPOKE WITH A DESK CLERK. I TOLD HER THAT MY HANDICAP PARKING TAG WAS MISSING FROM MY CAR WHEN VALET PARKING RETURNED MY CAR ON SUNDAY AT THE ADOLPHUS. THE DESK CLERK SAID SHE WOULD HAVE SOMEONE RETURN MY CALL. I HAVE NOT AS YET RECEIVED A CALL BACK - TODAY IS SATURDAY, THE 15TH. I ALSO TOLD HER THAT I HAD […] LEFT MY PERSONAL PILLOW IN ROOM 819 AND WOULD LIKE TO COME DOWN TO CLAIM IT - SHE HAS NOT CALLED ME BACK ON THAT ISSUE EITHER.
