"Not very happy!"
Everything was good till we left Dallas and i noticed a huge crack on my dash. So i called to see if I could talk to a manager and all i got was his voicemail, left him a message and a call back number, still havent heard from him. I was not trying to point fingers yet but its a new truck, i would have noticed it before on my 5 hour drive to Dallas. […] It was not a great trip to begin with, my wife and i go to Dallas every friday to take our 6 month old baby from west tx so they can check up on him. He has to wear a helmet on his head and that was the first day we has it on him. If the thought i was the guy after a new dash, they are wrong i just want answers. "Desperately needs refurb and service training"
I was very disappointed during my recent stay. Sure, I had heard that the Adolphus was a grand dame but it is shockingly grubby, out of date and in desperate need of refurbishment. In addition, housekeeping skipped my room entirely and when I called down to ask for towels, it took an hour and I had to call three times. There was no apology either... […] fresh towels and an 'I'm sorry' would have been all it took for me to overlook the mistake. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We had booked a double room for 4, 3 adults and 1child. When we arrived they informed us that all they had was a king bed. Three adults and 1 child cannot sleep on a king. They looked a little closer and decided to offer the executive suite, at another $30.00 per night! It honestly did not look like an executive room. It was big enough but not up to […] date on its decor at all. We were continuously given 2 towels per day for 4 people! We had to call them each day to get more. One of the comforters had either chocolate or dried blood on it, clearly not having been washed recently. They did come and chane all teh shets but when they left the same comforter was still on the bed. They did finally get back and change it. For the price I would never stay there again. Dried blood on the sheets when I arrived. Sheets and linens were never changed in 5 days. Unable to provide me with vegetarian meal after 10:00pm. I requested grilled cheese since they had bread and cheese for meat sandwiches, but they refused to consider - "We don't make those kind of sandwiches". No working electrical plugs in room. Took them 2 days […] to come up and fix one so I could charge phone, computer, etc. Staff was rude, felt like they were doing me a favor. I will never stay here again. This is not a luxury hotel. It is old, and poorly kept and dirty. Extraordinarily disappointing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beware if Using Hotels.com"
I made a reservation through Hotels.com for a room with 2 double beds. When I arrived, I was told that they would not honor the fact that my reservation was for a room with two beds. So, I got a room with one queen size bed that my family of four had to share. Because of a large event at the convention center, which was nearby, there were no other hotels […] with vacant rooms, so we had no choice but to take turns sleeping on the floor for the two nights that we needed to be there. "Worst stay at a 5 star hotel ever!"
Was not at all satisfied with our stay at the Adolphus hotel. We originally paid for a Deluxe King Bed Suite through Hotels.com. When we checked in they stated they no longer had a King bed available. They mentioned there reservations take priority over a outside source. The room a/c unit made a horrible noise when it would start up every single time […] that kept us up all night long. Along with the room being next to what sounded like the elevator shaft next door. The next day we talked to the front desk and they said they would take care of it. When we returned that evening the a/c unit worked better but by the time it was time to go to bed the noise was the same as the night before. By then it was to late to move to another room beings we were going to check out the next morning. Over all it was the worst stay we have had at a 5 star hotel. Will not recommend this Hotel to no one. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The Adolphus Hotel - Clean but terrible"
Booked and paid for a room with King- sized bed well in advance. Received two full-sized beds. Notified hotel staff of the problem. Was advised there was nothing that could be done because they didn't have any more king size beds available. Hotel was very hard to get into. Beware valet parking only for $26.00 a day! No vending machines on property just […] a $3.00 can drinks and bottles of water and $2.50 single candy bars or $4.00 for a package of cookies!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Awful hotel after our amazing wedding night!"
After our wedding, we made our way here. We werent greeted & no one was at the check-in counter. My husband finally found a lady a while later &asked for help. They didn't have the room we had reserved available & said she'd “have to do some rearranging & see if it was possible” After 30+ mins of waiting we were finally given a key. We walked into […] a construction zone! There were tarps on the floor, ladders, a hole in the ceiling, paint, tools, etc in the room. We headed downstairs, she apologized, & after another long period of waiting, we were told there wasn’t another room available, so she would put us in a suite. She also said that she would give us complimentary breakfast in the morning. When we got to the suite and opened the door we were immediately frightened, as were the SLEEPING GUESTS inside the room. The lights were off and the room was occupied! We were finlly put into a third room for the night. When we called for food, the man on the phone said that we already had an order on the way & figured the hotel was trying to make up. 30 minutes had gone by & they called our room saying “I was told to call you back so that you could place an order for food?”! Ugh. Around 2am our bag from the car was brought up. The next morning we ordered breakfast & when it came 30 mins later, it was someone else’s order! We were still charged for it, even though we had been told it'd be complimentary. Issues with valet not finding our car topped off our horrible stay! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

All except housekeeping was exceptional. I only had one towel in the room. I requested more as there were 2 of us, but with each cleaning I was left with only one towel. I suspect this was not a facility policy but a housekeeping issueGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"What an amazing hotel!"
We stayed at the Adolphus for a long weekend for our anniversary, and had an absolutely amazing time. The hotel was gorgeous! The historic lobby is stunningly beautiful, and the room was extremely comfortable (except for the too-soft pillows, but that it just our opinion - I'm sure others would find them to be fine). I must recommend room service. […] The food was delicious and it was delivered so quickly I hardly had time to get to the door. The neighborhood is wonderful. It's close to absolutely everything. We went to a hockey game at the American Airlines Center, and we were able to comfortably walk from the hotel. Lots of bars and restaurants as well. I could not recommend this hotel enough. "New Years at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas"
What a shame that this beautiful old hotel in the great city of Dallas is so poorly managed. While the building is well maintained, the attitude of the staff and the poor response to complaints were horrific. The cleanliness of the room was poor at best, and no one seemed to care. The mandatory valet parking was amazingly poor with it often taking over […] 20 minutes for our car to be retrieved and delivered. When we complained all we got were excuses of how busy they were and how many people had checked in. Several times other guests that came out after us had their car delivered first; many other guests were complaining of the slowness of the delivery. They seemed to have plenty of time to stand around and chat, but we and others had to pay the price of their slowness. It seemed like a very poorly organized activity. Our room was very spacious but was nothing special when it came to amenities. There were barely enough towels for my wife and me, there was only one robe and there was a charge for everything. The floor in the bath room was dirty and the bathtub was in poor condition. The table and phone were dirty. The inside of the window in our room was noticeably dirty. The hair dryer was hidden in the closet. The most disturbing issue though was the staff and their lack of concern for customer service. When we arrived back at our room after being out all day, our eletronic keys did not work. When we called from the phone on the 12th floor the response we got was "you have to come down stairs". No apology or offer of any service. When we got down stairs of course there was a line at the check in counter and after a few minutes we were told to step up and a clerk would help us. The clerk was excellent at ignoring people. When we arrived at our room on the second afternoon, we found it had not been cleaned. When we called to inquire why we were told that they clean all day. It was after 5:00 pm at that time and our housekeeper was not on the floor. We told them we just Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't be fooled by the reputation"
Possibly the WORST customer service I ever received at a hotel, much less a 4 Diamond hotel. No bellhop available. No offer to help load luggage cart. No local car service as promised. Told afternoon tea was completely booked however there were numerous available spaces. Housekeeper entered the room during our nap despite the Privacy sign on door. And […] to top it all off: no OnCommand TV service available at our time of stay. The engineer took the flat screen TV off the wall and set it on the floor never to return. Even the manager, upon our complaint, admitted our experience was below expectations and our service was "absurd." It is shameful this so diminished our holidays. "Go somewhere else!"
We weren't told beforehand that in order to use the hotel's parking garage, we HAD to use valet. The amount per day was an inconvenience but the valet SCREECHING my car down the parking garage ramp was outright appalling. As he came to the bottom, another valet was in his way, so he chose to squeeze between that car and another parked one. My boyfriend […] and I just stood with our mouths open. I have a 2010 Mazda3, there's no reason for it to be screeching. If this is how they treat my car when I'm watching, I cringe to imagine what goes on when I'm not. We complained at check out and were told that the parking garage is run by another company. Then perhaps they shouldn't call it the Adolphus parking garage and charge you to your hotel bill... Seems like it's the same company to me. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values their car at all... Hotel restaurant Rodeo bar & grill was disgusting and overpriced. Room itself wasn't too bad, nothing special. I failed to see what the rave reviews were about. For crying outloud, we weren't even allowed to fill up our own ice buckets! "Adolphus Hotel -- no longer the place to stay"
The Adolphus Hotel used to be a great hotel, but it doens't look like they have done anything to maintain the hotel since the 1980's. On Saturday, we did not receive any towel service. When I called the front desk, they said they were on the way. Over 2 hours later, they finally said their laundry equipment had quit working. They should have told me […] that from the beginning. They only had two elevators working for the entire hotel. People smoking in adjacent room Neeless to say, I will never stay there again. I would recommend you stay away!!! "In short: disaster"
Despite my 1 star rating, there were some redeeming qualities about the hotel - the staff tried, at least a little bit, to resolve some issues that came up. It was also smack in the middle of downtown so easy way to get to just about everything. That being said, this hotel is a total disaster. 1. Despite the fact that I stated I need two queen beds […] because I was going to have 4 people (two adults and two kids), we arrived only to find ourselves in a room with a single queen size room. Few calls to the front desk revealed that there was no available room in a hotel with two queen sized beds. But, they were bring up two sleeping cots. OK. 2. After about 30 minutes, I'm told that the sleeping cots cannot be brought up because we're on the 20th floor which is a split level and cots cannot be brought over the stairs. 3. We're put into a different room with two full beds. 4 people in 2 full sized beds - not a good combo. So they also bring in a sleeping cot. 4. I call the front desk and ask for an extra set of sheets, pillows and blankets, for the cot. 30 minutes later (it's almost 1 AM at this point and we just drove 3 hours with kids), I call downstairs and tell them to forget it as it is too late but am promised it'll be in our room the following day. 5. In the morning, we find that there is no cold water at all in the shower or in the toilet. There is cold water in the sink, but not shower or toilet. While the toilet flushing steaming hot water makes for an interesting experience, the absolute hot water in the shower is a total bummer. 6. At the same time, we find out that the room has only 1 bath towel, and 2 face towels - again, for 4 people. 7. As we now have to take an elevator during the daytime (as opposed to night time when we checked in) we find that the 5 tiny elevators in the hotel take forever and you have to let a few go by before you can catch one empty. All in all, at least 10 minute wait for an elevator. 8. In the evening, we find that A) there is no e Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Maybe our experience is the exception?"
Before I get into our experience at Adolphus it should be noted that it seems our problems are an exception the normal experiences at this hotel. That being said, we had a horrible stay. It took an hour to check in (that doesn't include the wait in line for the initial check in or the second wait in line to get our room key). Our room wasn't anything […] special, I'm assuming I paid a premium price more for space than anything else. There was no hand soap at the bathroom sink, only face soap and body washes. Right before we left for dinner we realized that our toilet wasn't working. Of course, I called down to the front desk to have someone fix it while we were away. Upon returning to the hotel I checked with the front desk, they showed it was on the log that the toliet was fixed. Imagine my surprise when we get to the room and it's not fixed, almost 5 hours after we called it in. After the second call it took 20 min for someone to come up and finally fix it. To my surprise there was toilet water all over the floor after he left. Another, admittedly smaller issue was that we booked a double room for two adults and only had one set of towels to use between us. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"HORRIBLE BED and TERRIBLE SERVICE"
I was definitely 'tipped off' at check-in, as another guest was complaining 'this room isn't clean either" and the representative helping was going behind telling all, don't put anyone in room.We carried our own bags to the room-never saw a bellman during our stay !! The walls were so thin and the people in the room next to us were 'having a good time' […] about 10:30. I phoned the front desk requesting a clean ice bucket and complaining about neighbors, neighbors became quieter, never received ice bucket. called again - no ice bucket; finally after speaking with operator, because no one answered at front desk; we finally received ice bucket with ice. The bed had to be the worse bed I have slept in for years !!!! the mattress or the box springs (looked) were barely 12 in deep. I have NO idea how this hotel could be rated a 4 star !! We were awakened about 3am with loud noise from neighbors, sounded as though we were hearing the drawers of night stand open - so loud it sounded in our room; along with any and ALL plumbing noises !! We were so glad to check-out; but, that is not allowed from a phone call in your room - you MUST go down to the 'front desk' to review your bill. I don't have time or room to explain how rude the representatives were !!! The valet was the ONLY person that appeared to CARE !! The lobby is grand; the bar (&service) were nice, but other than those few high points... DON'T waste your $... even the good expedia price isn't worth the bad experience. "Staff said I was MISTAKEN!"
Beautiful, 4-star hotel. Got a GREAT rate through Expedia. No parking, must valet for $24. Valet took car behind mind and then got mad I wouldn't move my car out of his way. Front desk gave us a bigger room than we had booked, but AC in room didn't work. Alarm clock went off at 3am. (They can stock the mini bar and charge $4.75 for a Snickers on your […] nightstand, but can't check to see if the alarm is on?!) 7:30am a huge drilling sound shook the wall right by the bed and woke us up. Sounded like the building was falling apart. We called the front desk - who could barely here us over the noise - who then told us there "was no loud noise scheduled for our floor and WE WERE MISTAKEN!" We looked in the hallway to find several workers, tools, and a ladder. They had, in fact, drilled a huge hole right next to our bed! We called the front desk again and they assured us there was no construction on our floor. Wanting to go back to bed, we couldn't because of the continuous drilling, so we checked out soon after. When we left we were again assured no construction was going on on our floor! Had we had actually paid what the room was worth, we would have been furious! Even so - I can not believe the staff was so uncaring and rude! I asked to speak to a manager and was told no one was available. Beautiful building, but service doesnt match! "Adolphus in Dallas - no view"
After booking thru Hotels.com, I did not get my booked room. Received a room with a view of the neighboring building; very claustrophobic! Valet parking is high, and the only parking option. The servicw was extremely slow...from check in to valet. Did not have the room I paid for. The bed was uncomfortable and the headboard squeaked and shook with every turn. I would not recommend this hotel. We were unable to sleep since our room was so hot. Even after switching rooms, the air conditioner wasn't working. The staff seemed to be annoyed at our request to switch to a room with a working air conditioner since their obvious priority was a large wedding party that had blocked out several rooms. Miserable experience. […] And the next morning we had to wait outside in the muggy heat for almost an hour until the valet finally brought us our car. Would not recommend at all. "Horrible Experience...Would never stay here again!"
At first glance our hotel room was outdated, but we felt it had character. I turned the air to cold in the hopes that the room would cool to a comfortable temperature soon...Waiting....2 hours go by the room is a luke-warm temp. I call room service and order dessert. We get the dessert and Ice (you have to order ice from room service btw) the food is […] horrible. Our desserts tasted like something from Dennys. When I opened the ice bucket to put the ice in, it was full of water. Housekeeping obviously didnt clean it out from the last tenant. Gross! I called the front desk no answer, got the operator who said they would call me back. Waited 30 mins no call, so I called the front desk again, get the operator again who says she will connect me and that the front desk man was talking to some girls. I get the front desk on phone and request they send up an A/C repairman for the issue we are having with the room. Hours go by the repairman never comes. We fell asleep waiting on the maintenance people. For such a highly rated hotel, I was quite shocked at the service. If you are looking to stay in the DFW area, I would recommend the Hotel Palomar.
