The Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel occupies oceanfront real estate adjacent to Santa Monica Beach and two blocks from the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, Calif. This California hotel stands two blocks from the Santa Monica Convention Center and Third Street Promenade's shops, nightclubs and restaurants.

Glass ceilings, slender palm trees and curtains billowing with the ocean breeze create seaside ambience in the hotel's airy lobby. A poolside bar adjoins this Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel's expansive oceanfront outdoor pool and sundeck while providing guests ocean views. Amenities offered at the fitness center and day spa include a sauna, steam rooms, eight treatment rooms, a salon, personal training and yoga and Pilates classes. An on-site, 24-hour business center is staffed during business hours and offers computers with high-speed Internet access, printers, a fax machine and a photocopy machine. Wireless Internet access is available in the lobby, restaurant and at the pool. Ocean and Vine, the property's restaurant, serves fresh California coastal cuisine and houses a sushi bar. The restaurant offers dramatic ocean views and a stone fire pit. A fireside bar, Papillion, features plasma televisions, leather chairs, and tapas-style dishes.

The eight-story Santa Monica Beach Hotel offers 342 guestrooms, all with high-speed Internet access. Contemporary décor is inspired by coastal color schemes and most rooms feature modest step-out balconies. Beds feature goose-down duvets and pillows, 300-thread-count linens and padded tweed headboards. Bathrooms offer televisions, bathrobes, scales, and Lather bath amenities. All rooms are nonsmoking and offer cable television, CD players and three multi-line telephones.

Sushi at Sunset - Set in Ocean and Vine restaurant, this sushi bar, headed by the hotel's certified sushi chef, serves a variety of inventive rolls along with traditional sushi, nigiri, and sake pairings.
The state-of-the-art Santa Monica fitness club offers a team of exercise physiologists, personal trainers, and lifestyle coaches - each specializing in a variety of fitness, wellness, and nutritional programs (surcharges). A private fitness studio offers a selection of classes. The club includes the latest cardio and strength-training equipment. Women's and men's locker rooms include saunas and steam rooms.
Loews is adjacent to Santa Monica Beach, where activities include swimming, boogie boarding, body surfing, bird watching, beachcombing, and volleyball. An ocean-view beach walk/bicycle path directly in front of the hotel stretches from Marina del Rey to Malibu. The hotel can arrange rentals of bicycles and in-line skates.

"5 Star NOT by far!"
It was horrible! The receptionist, Mercedes was not customer friendly at all! The furniture in the lobby area was dirty, dingy and not 5 star quality. The remote for the TV was dirty and warned. "Great staff; overpriced room."
Though I had requested an ocean view, I ended up with a room that was half underground in a corner of the pool patio. My view was of dirt and concrete. There was no ice maker on my floor and the sound wasn't working on my pay channels so I had to call maintenance. I stayed at Loews for one day and night on my way into the US when embarking on a ski trip in Utah. Check in and out was quick and easy which was great seeing as I was only there for 24 hours. The hotel is undergoing renovation, a fact that they do not make clear at all on the website. The front desk person first tried to put us in a room with scaffolding outside the window, and surrounded by workers and heavy smell of paint. She even termed it an "upgrade" to our reservation. No security!! In the four days we were there we had no house keeping. Due to our room was not listed as unoccupied. We had a GREAT experience here! The staff was so kind and friendly, and went out of their way to make conversation, as well as to make sure all of your needs were met. We enjoyed a private tour with a man named Mark, the hotel had recommended him....WOW! he was the highlight of the whole trip. That was my third tour in LA...and by far he was the best. Was a great hotel and would have gotten 4 /5 overall, except they are updating their exterior and have all of the room sides of the hotel covered in scaffolding - so the view is obscured by the scaffolidng, the sliding glass doors were fixed so they couldnt' be open and the construction workers were pounding right outside our room at 9am on a holiday. My friend and I went to visit the area and our daughters for a week. We were very satisfied with the deluxe two queen bed room. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms more spacious than we thought they would be. They delivered a refrigerator to our room at no extra cost which significantly helped with overall food expenses. The elevators are terrible. Plan to wait 10 minutes minimum to get an elevator. Room keys kept going bad and to have security bring you to your room could take 30 minutes. We only stayed there one night and it was GREAT...we enjoyed the beach, the pool and spa, the staff was incredible and was very helpful. When we checked in they put us in a lower level room it was small and had a huge wall around our small patio. Went back to the front desk and asked for another room, they didn't have one available immediately but said if we wanted to wait they could move us.
