"weekend getaway"
It was a nice overnight stay, however when I booked and paid for my room it was for double occupancy and when I got to the hotel they had change my reservation to a King size stated that the hotel was almost filled to capacity. It was a bit noisey between guest running up and down the hallway and the staff talking very loudly while working (cleaning). It was clean, but a little out dated. "Most Ghetto Hotel Ever"
The customer service was horrible and if you called for help you would never get it. We requested towels and a trash can on five different occasions. I asked to pick them up from the front desk but that wasn't can option. The doors were labeled and number with duct tape. The rooms didn't have trash cans. It was the hotel stay that I ever had. "Disappointed"
My sister and I stayed at this hotel back in October and I don't know what happened but the quality of service had severely deteriorated between then and this last vist. It took 2 days to get more pillows, the cleaning lady took all of the towels without leaving clean ones, I had to leave her a note to ensure we had toilet paper and kleenex in the bathroom […] and the cleanliness of the common areas were dirty. The last night was horrible. Having to get up at 5 a.m. to start back home, my sister and I started hearing a lot of commotion around 11:30 p.m. in the hallway. I looked out the door and saw yound men talking loudly, running, banging doors closed and knocking on doors. I called the front desk and the employee apologized and stated they were trying to get some guests into their rooms. Around 12:45 a.m. I again called the front desk to complain and the employee sounded frazzled. The next morning after hardly getting any sleep my sister went to check us out and again complained about the disturbance, the employee told her a basketball team of young men stayed at the hotel and in fact she was threatened a couple of times trying to get them in their rooms. I believe at that point she should have contacted the police to restore order. I will never again stay at this hotel. It is unfortunate because this hotel has some great employees who work there, but I am a paying guest and expect quality service and a good nights sleep without being disturbed by other guests. "Close to Major Highways"
The hotel location was very convenient, however, it is hard to find unless you are really looking for it. The easiest way to find the hotel is look for Copper Canyon Brewery which is right next door, just put this address into your GPS. Also, I found a great back way to the hotel, take Lahser Rd exit off 10 (John C Lodge Fwy), at the end of the ramp […] turn right, at the next light turn left and that will lead you onto the Northwestern Service Drive and the hotel will be on your right, simply reverse the directions to get back onto 10, this cuts off some time. The breakfast is great, they had scrambled eggs or omelettes, potatoes, sausage or bacon, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, muffins, juice, coffee and hot tea, plus other breakfast items. The hotel personnel were fantastic and took care of anything you needed promptly. The beds were comfortable and from what my sister told me the pool was nice. The only thing we had an issue with in our room was the way the toilet seat fit (kept slipping off the bowl) and where they placed the toilet paper holder which was awkwardly placed. Other than that I would definately stay there again plus I was able to get a great rate off Hotels.com In fact, I had to extend my stay (2) additional nights and called Hotels.com and still able to get a rate that was cheaper than the Hampton Inn site. We had a problem with the ceiling in the bathroom leaking resulting in the staff insisting that we change rooms. They were most helpful with the move and did all they could to make up for the inconvenience. My daughter and 2 children came in from Australia since my husband is a stroke patient and we thought staying at a hotel would be much better than them staying with us. Her room was very nice and it was a poolside room, which really was appreciated since the kids loved to swim. The people (service staff and maintenance) were extremely nice and helped […] us all the time. We were very satisfied with the services. There were some days where the sheets weren't changed, but the bed was made. Only thing I noticed were the scrambled eggs. My granddaughter said appropriately they resembled "germs". "How many times do you need to clean a pool?"
Overall, this was a nice place to stay. But the main reasons we chose to stay here are: 1. Hampton Inn is one of our favorite chains. 2.) It had a pool. Unfortunately for my 2 very disappointed children, the pool was closed for cleaning both days we were ther. I'm the first person to say how important cleanlinss, especially with pools but really...twice […] in 12 hours and no explanation as to why. Very disappointing. Friends normally stay at Hampton Hotels. Were visiting these friends. The temputure outside was 98 degrees. The air condition in the room did not work. I informed the desk clerk on the first day of my stay. (I booked the hotel for 2 days. The repairman came and changed the filter and stated the air was fixed. It was not. Since I had booked the hotel […] for 2 days I stayed the next day in the most humid tempature that I had ever experienced. I was miserable. I Informed staff the next morning, but was told that because I was near the pool, this was why it was hot. Also, the main reason I stayed at this chain of hotels is due to the breakfast. The women that served the buffet breakfast never replinished the breakfast items after the food bar was empty. Coffee, fruit, and meat were never replinished after 8:30 even though the bar was open until 10:00 am. The women stood in the doorway of the kitchen without bringing any food or coffee out to the bar. Customers were complaining, but they were chatting with each other trying to pass the time. At 9:30, they informed us and a line of about 30 other customers that they were not going to brink any more food out to the bar. At 9:50 they come out and announced that they did not have to throw away any food today. I guess not because they did not stock the bar. I was so dissapointed with the services, that I left the hotel, and booked another room at another hotel with great customer service such as cold air, great breakfast, and desk clerk with great hospitality. I forgot to mention that the desk clerk was very rude when I walked into the hotel, I asked for a refrigerator and microwave, he informed me that they were out, and failed to inform me that I could get on a list to receive them. "Hampton Inn Southfield -Nice People Dirty Hotel"
Most of the people working at the hotel were nice and Sunday breakfast person was great however... all of the common areas were NOT CLEAN. The conforter on the bed was very clean but full of lumps from washing and bunched lining. There was a cleaning cart and bucket of dirty mop water at the elevator for two days!!! The breakfast lounge area, including […] all of the knick knacks, was covered in dust! The fabric on the chairs in the breakfast lounge was filthy! The bottoms of the elevator walls and doors were dirty. Guests have to sign a waiver saying that if you lose anything they are not responsible and they block $100.00 on your credit card and do not tell you. There were two couples in the lobby who had been assigned to the same room and they blamed it on other staff. Some of the housekeepers at checkout were rude and intrusive. I heard a personal conversation in which guests were discussing check-out and how rude the "maid" was and she interrupted and said "HOUSEKEEPER!" to correct them when they were not speaking to her and had no intention of being disrespectful by calling her a maid! I know people need jobs and rates like these make it affordable to travel but cleanliness and decency should be expected no matter how many stars the hotel holds!! "Very loud visitors"
We rented a room by the pool area so the kids can soak in in the evening. Unfortunately, we checked in a little late than expected. We decided to just stay the night and play in the swimming pool in the morning the following day. That night around 10:30 pm, AFTER the pool was closed to the public, there were still people out there screaming and shouting […] till 2am in the morning. My wife couldn't sleep because of the noise. It sounded like they were all drunk! We couldn't sleep thinking about the safety of our 3 young kids! The following day the pool was closed to public because there were food stuff thrown in the pool and the management decided to close the are to clean up the mess that those inconsiderate people left behind. THE HOTEL WAS WORTH THE MONEY FOR OUR STAY, IT WAS VERY CLEAN AND THE STAFF FOR THE POOL WAS ESPECIALLY HOSPITABLE AND FRIENDLY. I LIKE THE LOCATION. THE ONLY 2 COMPLAINTS I HAVE WAS THE CARPET IN MY ROOM MUST HAVE BEEN SHAMPOOED BEFORE OUR ARRIVAL SO IT WAS DAMP AND MUGGY.
