San Diego’s waterfront airport lies northwest of downtown, which is home to the San Diego Convention Center, PetCo Park stadium, and the Gaslamp Quarter’s. That historic neighborhood’s restaurants and bars are the hub of the city’s nightlife. Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo form a green swath in this urban jungle. Offshore, Coronado Island offers postcard views of the city skyline.

I've stayed here twice.. its nice for the price and its a $8 cab ride to Horton Plaza.. can't beat it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No parking"
went for my boyfriends birthday weekend to hang out in the Gaslamp District. The bonuses are locations decent, customer service was good and there was a refrig and microwave and it was nice and clean but very very small rooms and the very small parking lot across the street was expensive and if you plan on leaving at all plan to get a cab.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not too bad"
For the price, I think it was worth it. Although, you get the bare essentials, the room and the grounds look well-maintained. The only major problem I had was the low pressure of the shower. There's paid parking across the street from the hotel...$12 for 24hrs parking, $6 for 6hours. The location of the hotel was ideal to major attractions in the downtown […] area. "Not what I expected"
HOTEL STAFF - WONDERFUL - LOCATION - AVERAGE - HOTEL ROOM - NOT WHAT I E XPECTED !!!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room is very petite with little walking space. Good points: very affordable, close to gas lamp and free breakfast (pastries and bagels)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"okay"
my only big complaints are that there was a flood light outside of our hotel window with blinds and no curtains. It kept the room glowing all night I was very distracting and made it hard to sleep. Also the bed was very tiny and my husband and I kept thinking into the middle. It also is very squeaky an uncomfortable. the coffee was good though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"3 days for st patricks day weekend"
Was exactly what I expected. Spartin accommodations which was just enough to sleep, shower, only a few mins from gas lamp. It is directly under the landing pattern for the airport so don't expect to sleep in as at traffic usually starts around 730am and goes intermitantly till midnight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Work Trip"
The hotel was located near my client's place of business. Rooms were small, but clean. I stayed during the week and the hotel was quiet. I would stay again. The front desk staff was helpful. The continental breakfast was adequate, but I would encourage more choice of items.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"You get what you pay for"
So we were in town for the San Diego half-marathon and we really just needed a place to stay. So I saw this place on Hotels.com for $60 a night, what a steal! Plus it was supposed to be close to the Gaslamp District... it wasn't. The bed was a piece of plywood on top of springs..... It looked freshly painted inside and out but it was an 8x8 cell for […] space. The "breakfast" was juice boxes, bagels in plastic and danishes bought from the grocery store. Ugh, stayed the night when we got to town and then the next morning I showered and booked a room at the Hilton down the road which was basically at the start line for our race. Plus it was a King suite delux or something, $150 a night but location was 100x better and oh just so much better. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quirky Hotel near the airport"
It was a quirky little hotel. Very convenient to the airport since our flight arrived so late at night. The Hotels.com description said there was a parking lot across the street but we found out that it did not belong to the hotel so driving to this hotel became problematic. We were advised to find a space to park our rental car on the street which […] wasn't easy and required that we had to be ready to leave by 8:00 AM the next morning. The room was clean but you had to use the kitchen sink as the bathroom sink. It was sort of a surprise that when you walked into the room, the switch by the door turned on the garbage disposal rather than a light in the room! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Americana not so Best Inn"
The rooms are not as pretty as the photos look. The rooms are definitely not worth the price we paid for. The quality of rooms are like a motel 6. The location was good. Close to downtown to San Diego. The breakfast was pastries and coffee....not that great. So we went to a Mexican restaurant right next to the hotel which had freshly squeezed carrot […] and orange juice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"acceptable"
Clean, convenient, modest amenities. Good if you are not finding a room in a regular hotel. Kitchenette sink doubles as bathroom sink. Located under flightpath of airport. Convenient paid parking across the street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small, Basic and Clean"
The hotel is fine for an inexpensive place to stay. The inner courtyard is beautiful and well maintained with tropical plants. The rooms are basic and small. They do have a small refrigerator, coffeemaker and microwave. The beds are not pillowtop but are comfortable enough. There are 30" LCD TVs in the rooms. The rest of the decor is outdated but functional […] and clean. The first night I woke up cold and realized the heat was not set to a specific temperature. I turned the heater on and was fine, but even the low setting made the room hot in a short while. A friend told me that they seldom need heat or air conditioning in San Diego. The other thing that was strange is that they put the garbage disposal switch for the sink in the kitchen area next to the light switch when you come in the door. You have about a 50/50 chance of turning on the disposal rather than the light when entering or leaving your room. The breakfast is very basic, no milk or cereal, just oatmeal, danish, muffins or bagels, coffee, tea and juice. You can grab an apple any time from the reception desk. "Good location, adequate accommodations"
The biggest plus for this hotel is it's location. It is close to downtown, Balboa Park, the airport, the Gaslight Quarter, and major highways. Our room was quite small, but with a comfortable double bed. There was a microwave , a refrigerator, and a kitchen sink however, the kitchen sink is the only sink in the room. The shower was huge with a good […] flow of water. The breakfast was a true continental breakfast with coffee and orange juice, bagels and pastries. We went out for a full breakfast, which was not within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel for its price and location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Simple, clean, low-cost"
Low-cost, clean room, free continental breakfast. Perfectly good place to stay. Definitely not fancy, very simple room decor. Most of the tenants seemed to be young people traveling (late December). The front desk guy wasn't exactly warm and fuzzy, but not rude either.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly staff but not worth the price"
This hotel is in a great location in comparison to downtown however it is very close to the airport and the noise of planes flying over all night was a little disappointing. The rooms were very small and we found an opened condom wrapper on the floor by the air conditioning when we entered. The sheets were also ripped and did not fit the bed correctly. […] There is only street parking and most of it is metered. On a good note, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overall fair hotel considering the price range"
Near to downtown and Zoo. Both are walking distance of around 20-30 mins. But no restaurant nearby, you need to call Dominos for room delivery. Night time rarely get any public transport from sea world. Room and restroom is moderately small. Lots of airplane noises as airport is nearby and all planes arriving in every 2 mins. Breakfast was good, you […] will get Muffins, apples, cereals, juices, coffee. I got early checkin and staff was good. Bus stop is near by within 5-7 mins walking distance. "It was okay for the price"
It was okay for the price. The rooms are tiny with fluorescent lights. Beautiful garden area, but it sees no sunlight. Very dark and artificial in the rooms. Tiny little window, with no view. We actually had to switch rooms because the first room we had, the window just pointed to the hallway (no view, people can see in). It is about a mile from downtown. "Small hotel, but good location for price"
The location is good for the price you pay. I was simply looking for a good rate for a room in downtown where I could get around by walking to gaslamp and surrounding areas. "The Inn"
The woman at the front desk was pretty friendly, and very efficient when it came to attending us. The top of the cabinets were extremely dusty, and we kept having to take the lid off the toilet to attach the metal line that allowed the toilet to flush. Other than the two inconveniences, our stay there was okay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Set your expectations and you will be alright"
This hotel is a fine hotel as long as you go in with the right expectations. There are no grand views from this hotel, and it is on the flight path for the airport. There are also lots of homeless milling about outside, but from exploring the whole downtown I discovered that the same is true of most hotels near the downtown. I never felt unsafe, and […] was able to walk to downtown, little Italy, and balboa park easily. The price is nice and low, and the place was clean. I wouldn't recommend it though if you plan to stay in the room for most of your time as the rooms are tiny. The lack of parking is another minus. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location"
This hotel is in a great location being close to the freeway and Gaslamp. I had read several reviews on this hotel and decided that I would take the chance and save over $100 for the weekend by staying here than at another hotel. The price was great and I would definitely say you get what you pay for. If you are one that is used to staying somewhere […] that is a nicer hotel, then you might not want to stay here, but if you would rather save the money more an ok hotel then this is your place. The bed was ok maybe bring your own pillows as there's are very stiff. The rooms like everyone else has said are extremely small but if not planning on being in them that much, then no big deal. One thing that was odd is that the sink is outside the restroom. Overall I wouldn't say this hotel is anything luxurious, but it is a place to sleep close to Gaslamp. "Great hotel for friends and road trips"
Hotel looked much better in the pictures...as expected. Room was smaller than it looked. No parking. There is a parking lot across the street that charges anywhere from 5 to 17 dollars depending on which rate you pick. Only a 5 minute drive from Gas lamp district. Not a bad location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"okay hotel"
The hotel was very nice but they give you no options for parking. So you have to find parking out on the street with the meters, you might get lucky and the meters are not working that day or you will have to pay which sucks. The room we stayed in was very small and cramped. My boyfriend and I could barely walk into the room. The shower head was horrible […] with barely any water coming out. Besides the room being small, it was very clean. The continental breakfast in the morning could have had more options as well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"It's a place to sleep."
It's clean, decent location and the bed was better than I expected. I wasn't expecting anything extravagant since I grew up in SD, I knew the area and what to expect. A block away from Balboa park, a decent taco shop around the corner, and an ok breakfast place up the street. You have quick access to downtown, Hillcrest, Little Italy, and the freeway. […] The rooms are basic and the staff was nothing amazing. I didn't need them so I can't really give my opinion. However the check in girl wouldn't have won any courtesy awards. Check out guy, a LOT better. If looking for a quick, easy, place to crash, I'd go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worth it only during a sale, if then!"
Note first of all that the hotel has showers only, no bathtubs available. It is reminiscent of two-star European hotels in the sense that there are no frills but everything functions reasonably well and the staff are reasonably helpful. The rooms are cozy, but I'm not a big guy. Supersize guests and couples or families are going to need more space […] than is provided by a room with one full-size bed. Even I had to move the desk chair away from the desk so that there is space to squeeze by the foot of the bed. The shower stall is actually bigger than many that I've used in Euro-style 2-star places, but the bath amenities are comparably cheap -- shampoo tube and bar soap only. There is no bathroom sink because the layout has a kind of kitchenette with a stainless steel sink (electric disposal) a coffee maker, a small microwave oven, and a decent-sized fridge. There is a mirror on the wall behind the sink so that means you're doing your grooming at a high-counter steel sink a good distance from the mirror. So, the room is small but the setup of the lav is not small-friendly. Mattress in my room was mushy by European standards, and the air con unit blows directly at one's face if you're a side sleeper, with the vent literally within arm's reach. Location is a plus if you're interested in Balboa Park and Little Italy. Walkers will be fine. There is both a small circular interior courtyard and a below-grade patio with vending machines. Breakfast generic but ok. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"just the basics"
The hotel was well-maintained and relatively comfortable. Parking is a big problem, as you must find something on the street and anything with a reasonable distance is metered and most are occupied. Fine in general. Clean, Breaksfast could be improved and has the right path of health oriented in some way. Wi-Fi was difficult to access and to get in the room, but eventually was available.
