I posted a very long and detailed review on a popular review site but thought I'd write a short one here as well. This hotel is disgusting- from the musky smelling air to the stained and ripped bed linens. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. "Keep your expectations WAY low"
When I made my reservations, I was excited that it was close to the Gaslamp District, even if it was a noisy hotel. On the Friday that we were supposed to check in, I called the hotel in the morning to ask if we could check in early. I was told, "No, check-in is at 3:00pm." I was told they would not make an exception. We arrived at 1:00pm and I asked […] for an early check-in again. I was told the same thing. I explained that my bf recently hurt his back and it was hurting from the 2 hour car ride. The front desk woman said that she did not have a list of available rooms and to come back. We finally checked-in at 2:30pm. I have never been told that I could not check-in early. Our room was so small that I called the front desk thinking that they gave me a double bed, but they assured me that it was a Deluxe Queen. The only sink in the room is at the tiny kitchenette. Our room faced the street and it was noisy. The area has a lot of homeless people and there is no soundproofing. The walkways are very small and you have to maneuver around cleaning carts (which housekeeping does not offer to move). Their elevator does not seem up to code - the certificate is from 2010 and a notice is posted from January 2012 saying that a new certificate is being processed. It is extremely slow to go up one floor. The courtyard is charming and the hotel is clean at least; however, the hotel service was very unaccommodating and the rooms are much smaller than advertised. The staff at the desk was very helpful, but the Hotel itself is a disaster. It is not clean, very noisy, and the parking is a joke, there is none. We watched the maid clean the room and she never washed the coffe cups just rinsed them out and put back. They don't even serve regular coffee in the morning, they just use instant Nescaffe. Noisy! Had to change rooms after first night due to noise. First Room was on the main entrance road, and only one floor up from street level. People congregate and talk around the entrance at all hours. Room for next 2 nights was up higher and at rear of building, but still very noisy.
