This was by far the best experience I ever had. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They also helped me with my proposal. Everything went off... without a hitch. Ended up staying a second night to enjoy the experience a little more and to relax. Didn't have to check out of the room. They kept us in the same room and had new keys waiting for us. The restaurant on site Amaya was amazing for breakfast and dinner. Walking around the grounds is very relaxing. You feel secluded and stress free here. If I had known about the hiking trail, I might have packed appropriately for it. All in all, you can't beat this place for a relaxing getaway. Location.
Nestled in the hills adjoining Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, this Mediterranean-inspired luxury resort is 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. La Jolla is 11 miles south. The San Diego Zoo is 14 miles away.

Hotel Features.
The Grand Del Mar is home to a 7,160-yard (6,547-meter), par-72 golf course designed by Tom Fazio. A clubhouse, practice facilities, instruction, and Callaway rental sets are available. The opulent, Renaissance-inspired spa offers natural therapies, including hydrotherapy, utilizing an organic product line custom-made for The Grand Del Mar. Massages, body treatments, manicures and pedicures, and facials are also available. The resort also features a 24-hour fitness facility and 4 pools, including an infinity pool with spectacular views. Poolside dining is available. The award-winning Addison restaurant serves contemporary French cuisine. Other dining options include the Clubhouse Grill; Amaya, with an American and Mediterranean menu; and Cent' Anni, an Italian-style café. The resort offers 24-hour room service and complimentary wired and wireless Internet access.

Guestrooms.
Spacious guestrooms and suites have step-out balconies, full balconies, or patios with views of the resort, fairways, or canyonlands beyond. Beds indulge with pillowtop mattresses, Italian Pratesi linens, and goose-down pillows. 40-inch LCD TVs come with pay movies. Complimentary wired and wireless Internet access is available. In-room safes can accommodate laptops. Minibars include wet-bar areas. Members of old Hollywood once jockeyed for seclusion in Del Mar. Now, real jockeys are the main attraction at this former Tinseltown getaway. Every summer, the Del Mar Racetrack comes to life with horse races. The racing season begins with the end of the San Diego County Fair in July.
