McCormick & Schmick's - Attractive restaurant off the lobby, with tall windows, dark-wood furnishings, stairs to a second dining room, and private booths with curtains for privacy. Specialties include fresh seafood, pastas, and salads. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Terrace Bar & Grill - Next to the outdoor pool on the hotel's sixth floor, this bar offers indoor and outdoor dining, with teak-wood tables and chairs on an outdoor terrace and an indoor bar with views of multiple flat-screen plasma TVs. Poolside service is available and a gas fireplace outside offers warmth after the sun sets. Open from late morning to late night. Morsel's - The hotel's coffee shop/gift shop on the lobby level serves Starbucks gourmet coffee, pastries and desserts, and sells sundries. Morsel's is open from early morning to night.
This San Diego hotel's sixth-floor terrace houses a heated pool, sundeck, and spa tub. The 24-hour, compact fitness center contains Cybex equipment, stair-steppers, several treadmills with personal TVs (headphones are provided), elliptical machines, and free weights. Towels, water, and fruit are provided; there are two additional flat-screen TVs. Guests can also request a complimentary “Get Fit Kit” from the front desk that provides a floor mat, two dumbbells, and elastic bands for in-room workouts. Clean, quality room. Starbucks coffee shop on the first floor. If you like baseball, a walkway goes right into the ballpark. We were facing the convention center. Nice view. However, construction was going on at street level. During the night you'll here noise (police car, construction) on that side of the building. "Omni - beautiful hotel, great service!"
We stayed for 2 nights at the Omni for my daughter's birthday. It is close to all of the downtown sights - the Gaslamp is an awesome shopping and food experience. I was thrilled with the level of service. A few examples: 1. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived in town at 9:30am (wasn't expecting it to be), but they rushed the cleaning and called […] me on my cell as soon as it was available. 2. The concierge service was friendly and helpful. In particular, Robert went out of his way to help with directions and tickets. 3. We were absolutely stunned Saturday night to return to our room and find that Robert, the BEST concierge, had sent up sparkling cider and a slice of chocolate cake with candles for my daughter's birthday. This just went above and beyond, in my opinion. We travel worldwide and stay in many hotels. I would not hesitate to stay at the Omni again. We even had the very fun experience of riding the elevator with the offensive line for the Baltimore Ravens, who were in town playing the Chargers and staying at the Omni! Great value for the price. Location was awesome. walking distance to all shops, restuarants and bars downtown. Morning walks along the bay was absolutely beautiful and just a 10 minute drive to beautiful coronado island. Nightlife can be kind of loud if there is a concert and you have the hardrock right next door but you have to consider we were there Halloween weekend. "Omni San Diego - Dirty Room and Silent Fan"
The location was perfect for us, within walking distance of all of the places we wanted to go. The hotel was nice enough, but our room was dirty. There was a thick layer of dust on everything and even after we left a note for the maid about the dust (with a tip) she didn't make any effort to wipe off the surfaces. She also left all of our dirty towels […] in the bathroom the first night, but took the hint and removed them when we piled them on the floor by the bed. Also, we asked the front desk about our bathroom fan which was clearly broken. Her response 'it's a silent fan" since the "silent fan" didn't eliminate any steam in the bathroom we are convinced this was a totally made up (albeit amusing) response. Finally, there are no towel racks in the bathroom and the door didn't really close the whole way and was frosted glass which equals no privacy in the bathroom. The outdoor area and pool were nice enough, but closed the first night we were there for a wedding. In summary, I would pick a different hotel for your trip to San Diego. "fireworks form the jacuzzi"
we got into town on sunday of labor day weekend i found the hotel on my ipad and decided to go it was great we got in and had already checked in on line went to the room and had still 2 hours before the pool area closed(10 pm) we went to the pool and sat in the jacuzzi and enjoyed some labor day fireworks from the other side of the convention center. […] while we were making friends in the jacuzzi. afterwards we headed upstairs to our room (we got a west facing room) and cracked open the mini bar. it was nice to see it wasnt on a weight scale so you could pick items up look at them and decide if you wanted to drink them or not. we then left to go downtown which was 2 blocks away we enjoyed 5th st and walked up and down it a few times before deciding on a meal it was a tough choice seeing there were multiple places open between 10-11 o clock at night. we spent the night and was happy to find out the pool area opened very early so we were able to jump in the hot tub to soak before the day started. while we were in the tub it started to rain which was a nice cool rain while we were in the hot water. i would stay here again for sure and again and again i love it my last experience with san diego was horrible but this trip and this hotel made up for it! Best hotel in SD. I have stayed at the Hiltons and Hard Rock, and the Omni is my favorite. The proximity to Petco is awesome (own entrance to stadium). "Awesome Location- Terrible Staff"
We booked this hotel because we thought it would be awesome service, close to everything and most of all clean. We were very disappointed! We booked two rooms (we thought they were going to be together since we confirmed that over the phone with the hotel when we booked). When we checked in, one room, was on the 5th floor and the other on the 11th. […] After we requested time and time again to be on the same floor they finally agreed. To bad they were all smoking rooms that wreaked, but at least we would all be on the same floor. The first room was fine but the sink was backed up and didnt drain. when we entered the second room, someone else's bags were already in the room. They gave us an occupied room. So we ended up on different floors anyway. The shower in the second room was also clogged and you had to stand in the dirty shower water. While this place is close to everything, I would not recommend this hotel for anyone. Your better staying at a Motel 6- their drains work and you could save lots of cash. Their staff is a whole different beast. The have no clue what they are talking about. Every person we spoke with contradicted the previous person we asked. After asking for a manager everytime- the manager was just as clueless, if not worse then the staff. Our stay was for an all-girls weekend! It was blast and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool area and surrounding shops and restaurants. Everything was very convenient and within walking distance. The hotel is also close to the ferry services for rides to Coronado Island, and the drive is also very short and the main bridge is very accessable.
