McCormick & Schmick's - Attractive restaurant off the lobby, with tall windows, dark-wood furnishings, stairs to a second dining room, and private booths with curtains for privacy. Specialties include fresh seafood, pastas, and salads. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Terrace Bar & Grill - Next to the outdoor pool on the hotel's sixth floor, this bar offers indoor and outdoor dining, with teak-wood tables and chairs on an outdoor terrace and an indoor bar with views of multiple flat-screen plasma TVs. Poolside service is available and a gas fireplace outside offers warmth after the sun sets. Open from late morning to late night. Morsel's - The hotel's coffee shop/gift shop on the lobby level serves Starbucks gourmet coffee, pastries and desserts, and sells sundries. Morsel's is open from early morning to night.
Recreation
This San Diego hotel's sixth-floor terrace houses a heated pool, sundeck, and spa tub. The 24-hour, compact fitness center contains Cybex equipment, stair-steppers, several treadmills with personal TVs (headphones are provided), elliptical machines, and free weights. Towels, water, and fruit are provided; there are two additional flat-screen TVs. Guests can also request a complimentary “Get Fit Kit” from the front desk that provides a floor mat, two dumbbells, and elastic bands for in-room workouts. Petco Park, connected to the hotel, has a grassy area inside the ballpark where families can sit and enjoy the game on a jumbo screen while the kids toddle about. Bayfront running and cycling paths are adjacent to the convention center, and the concierge provides jogging maps. Two miles north of the hotel is 1,200-acre Balboa Park, with a municipal golf course, miles of paths for running/walking, 13 museums, and the zoo. Water sports are available at local beaches and Mission Bay Aquatic Park. Coronado Beach and Coronado Golf Course are within five miles of the hotel. "The Omni--Full of Minor Inconveniences"
Overall this hotel was decent -- good location, clean, etc. But my stay was marred with small inconveniences; nothing so big that I felt I needed to complain and change rooms, but inconvenient nonetheless. I had a split booking, so when I checked in I asked if I could keep the same room for my entire stay; they agreed and I was happy. But I still received […] my checkout card on the day I was supposed to change rooms, and I got my keycards reactivated that morning. Then, later that day, the cards stop working again. Other things that were kind of annoying: -My room was on the 5th floor, right next to train tracks. The train ran infrequently, but I still heard the horn a few times during my 5 night stay. There was also a jackhammer at 8:00am on my last day there. -The drapes didn't have overlapping tracks, so there was a perpetual sliver of light coming through. -The DVD player's sound didn't work intermittently. -There was no overhead light and only one outlet outside of the bathroom, and I had to unplug the sole standing lamp to plug in my computer and cell charger at the same time. -There were double doors between the elevators and the hallway to my room that didn't stay open on their own; it was hard to get my suitcase through them by myself. -There was nowhere to hang the handtowels in the bathroom. -The bathroom didn't have a fan and was not sound-proof at all. That said, the best part of my stay was actually the maid service. I was attended a conference at the convention center and was happy I chose the Omni. Great comfortable details like a robe and great toiletries. Helpful staff, super clean room. This is a fabulous hotel!! Location, location, location!! We stayed for 6 days. We were there for a convention and the hotel is right across the street from the convention center and within walking distance to the Gas Lamp District. The hotel staff was absolutly amazing!! When calling down to the front desk from our rooms they would always answer the phone cheerfully and call us by our names (they even pronounced them correctly)!! Rooms were very clean, comfortable and quiet. Pool area was great with lots of sun! Will not stay anywhere else whenever we travel to San Diego in the future!! With one exception, I found the Omni to be good value and an exceptional hotel for convenience and service. I needed 3 things: proximity to tthe Convention Center, Petco Field and good restaurants.
