I really enjoyed my stay at the Harborview. I was traveling by myself and only stayed two nights so this was the perfect hotel for me. The staff was very friendly and they were more than willing to give me directions to go about town. We decided to stay here only because I'd espied a review that began with the admonition, "cummon, people!" indicating that other reviewers were perhaps being a little nit-picky. As it happens, they were. We'd just come from a few nights at the Horton Grand (which was excellent, btw) and wanted to spend an evening within walking distance of Little Italy, […] so we decided to try this place on...and it was a perfect fit. The room was clean (no room service, but who cares when you're bloating yourself with lasagna and cannoli?), bed was comfy and quiet, the fridge was clean and easily accomodated a largish pizza box, and the neighborhood, while not Rodeo Drive, certaily wasn't rodeo clown either. It's literally a two-minute walk from downtown Little Italy -- safe area, friendly, plenty of foot traffic. Plus the lobby has Nag Champa burning, so huge upside there. Not sure what anybody's expecting for a price you can cover with pocket change, but we found it to be a brilliant choice. Read more

This hotel is a great price and in the heart of Little Italy. Convenient to the airport. Sometimes the parking lot (another great perk) is full, but there is free street parking around. Very comfortable bed with new linens and bedspread. I think they could get rid of the free breakfast because the coffee is weak and toast not worth eating.

We were pleasantly surprised! The owner was very nice, location was great, beds were very comfortable, and the room was clean. It's a little small but it didn't really bother us. The power went out that evening, but after thirty mins it came back on. Probably something to do with all the rain. We would definitely come back!

Although hotel is an older hotel, it was clean, and the staff was friendly. We were given a map of the area. The hotel clerk also showed where different points of interest were. Continental breakfast had waffles, toast, syrup, jams, coffee, juices etc. not a huge buffet or selection, but for the price, my husband and I loved it as well as our 5 & 7 […] year old kids. We got a room with a balcony, so our kids had fun. The airport is right by there, so you can hear the planes above every few minutes, but it did not bother us, I mean it's the city, that's what you kind of expect. This older, refurbished hotel gave us everything needed. The room was beautifully furnished with fridge and microwave, but small. The bathroom adequate. It was quiet, even tho on the ground floor, on a busy street. Being in Little Italy, put us in walking distance to my favorite restaurant, Filippi's. Spectacular Hotel. Nicest Hotel outside of Vegas. The main lobby area is like a art exhibit. Right on the Bay of San Diego with an outdoor pool and hot tub and a huge screen tv playing for the pool. The Restaurants are superb and it even has a Yogurt shop and Fox Sports Bar. Just a block from Petco Park where the SD Padres play and the Gaslight district […] is right there. Harborview Inn & Suite wasn`t my first choice, but that place is awesome. I mean, 15 min walk to Downtown? 5 min walk to little ltaly? Loved it so much that I stayed an extra night! Spacious and clean, liked the fact that the room had a little lounge with a comfy couch and flat screen TV. Price is fair given the great location, just a couple of blocks away from the harbor which was nice for an early morning run. Def recommend it.

We arrived on the night of the blackout. We received a friendly greeting and then made our way to a lovely room with a balcony where we could watch San Diego in almost darkness. We found a candlelit bar in nearby Little Italy. We enjoyed our stay in this family run hotel.

I went to the Harborview to celebrate my mother's birthday. We were able to walk to almost all of our destinations. We walked to the pier and had a great time exploring and we walked to dinner in Little Italy every night. The best place to eat at is Mona Lisa and it is right around the block from the hotel. The only place we did not walk to was Sea […] World but it is only about 5 miles from the hotel. The hotel is older but modifications have been made. There are granite countertops in the bathroom. The mini fridge is stainless steel and there is even a microwave. The San Diego Airport is very close as well. In fact the planes fly so low you might think they are about to crash. Although it is loud when you are outside, I slept through the planes at night. The walls are thick enough not to have to worry. The one cmplaint would be the size of the elevator. Both my mother and I are thin people and we could barely stand in there side-by-side without touching eachother. Upon first entering the elevator we joked saying if this is the size of the elevator what is our room going to be like. Fortunately, our room was a decent size.
