San Diego’s waterfront airport lies northwest of downtown, which is home to the San Diego Convention Center, PetCo Park stadium, and the Gaslamp Quarter’s. That historic neighborhood’s restaurants and bars are the hub of the city’s nightlife. Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo form a green swath in this urban jungle. Offshore, Coronado Island offers postcard views of the city skyline.
see all hotels in San DiegoIt was horrible. The bed was comfortable, but the room was the size of a closet, and our room wasn't cleaned each day until after 4, and sometimes later. And when we complained the first day it happened, it kept getting later. The breakfast consisted of bread and coffee, put out around 6:30, and put away by 8am. The hall stunk of indian food though, […] all day long. When we complained about their consistency of not cleaning our room by a decent time, we heard excuses that one of their cleaners is pregnant, and that they dont clean the stay overs until last. Just truly poor service. The room honestly was about 10'x10', which honestly should only take 10 minutes to clean. Then when we asked for a late checkout, they denied it. My wife had to work until 12 and checkout was 11, I asked if we could leave at 12:30 and they said no because they needed to clean the room. Which really angered me considering they never even came near our room until dark. pathetic. poor customer service. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Harborview Inn & Suites"
Very treasonable. Was staying near Temecula for a wedding. Leaving very early in the am. This hotel was very near car rental return, for San Diego airport, hence the choice. Room was clean. This is an old hotel. Room small, but updated. No ice or coffee. However for the inexpensive rate, I can't complain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"You pay for location"
Room was ok, wasn't dirty but looked dingy probably because it's very old. Bathroom was fine, looked recently remodeled and clean. Walls are thin, you can hear everything. Smelled like bug spray. Windows were hard to open, very old with no screens. Small room, comfortable bed. A little stuffy probably because the size. Hallway looked like a scary movie, […] creaky boards, impending doom. You pay for the location. Down the street from everything, gas lamp district, harbor, back to back restaurants and shops. On the corner of two busy streets, sound loud outside, inside it's quiet. Overall it's good for a night if your traveling through like we were, but not more than that. On the other hand, it's a really great price compared to other that are next to the harbor. You can see the water from the street corner. Doesnt look anything like the happy luxury room they show on the site. I give 2/5. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"short getaway"
Spent two nights for a fun getaway with a friend. We both could not sleep due to the traffic noise. Towels where threadbare (one small bath towel each). No coffee maker in the room. ?Breakfast consisted of bread or frozen waffles, jam, coffee and coffee mate. Nothing fresh available. Owners where friendly and the location was good for walking everywhere. […] The bed was comfortable and had nice clean sheets. I would try a different budget hotel next time. Room was clean and service was good. Power went out and was restored quickly. Very near airport (like the end of the runway). Parking lot only holds about 10 cars.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for 1 night stay on business travel"
It was Ok for one night only. The bed was Ok, but the room was dark, the phone didn't work, the toilet didn't flush, and the shower overflowed. At least they had lots of towels.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very Old"
While the location of this hotel was convenient, I was very disappointed with the overall quality. The deadbolt on the door did not lock, and there was no chain for added protection. I slid a chair in front of the door in what would most likely have been a failed attempt at security if anything would have happened. The room also smelled terrible. I […] had to wash all of my unworn clothes when I got home because the smell got into the fabric. There was no closet for my belongings, just an exposed clothes rack in the corner of the room. The first full day we were there we left the room in the morning and returned by 330 the room was not cleaned . the next day they came at 930 am. the continental breakfast is frozen waffles and toast and coffee the taxes added to the room for 3 days were like paying for the room for […] another day. if yur on a budget this room is for you. Room was comfortable and clean. There was no information about how to connect to the internet or when or where breakfast was served. Internet was very, very flaky once we got connected. More communication would've been hugely helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Contruction in the room next door."
I had high hopes for this hotel, and maybe when/if they finish construction/remodeling their rooms, it will be fine. Our room was right next door to the room they decided to tear out beds, etc. at 6AM on a SUNDAY!!! It has a musty smell in the hallways, but the rooms were just OK. Small, clean enough, but be warned: this hotel is right on Grape and […] that is a very busy street. Street noise pretty much all night long. The neighborhood is nice enough and has a wonderful Italian restaurant right across the street. Best part of the stay!! I would NOT stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Super Funky Hotel"
This is a VERY old building. They keep it quite clean and the mattress was comfortable. The shower was new and very clean, but the construction of the bathroom was unique, with the toilet raised about 10 inches above the rest of the room. And this was on the 3rd floor. They said that breakfast was included, but it consisted of wheat bread or toaster […] waffles, neither of which I am supposed to eat. Another hotel may be worth the money. "Convenient location, but overall disappointing"
We were looking for something clean and relatively inexpensive near downtown San Diego. This hotel is conveniently located and had free parking, but the rooms were pretty dingy and we had no closet to speak of. Additionally, though there was free parking, there weren't enough spots for all of the guests and we frequently had to leave keys at the desk […] so they could move our car. This is no chain hotel, and though it ended up serving our purposes well enough, I would never recommend someone else staying here and definitely wouldn't stay again. It's worth it to pay a bit more for a boutique hotel or a larger national chain. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to the airport & harbor..stops at that"
This hotel is extremely close to the san diego airport, I'm talking 5 minutes tops driving. You are also close to the harbor and downtown isn't far away so from a convenience standpoint this is a good hotel. It stops right there as the hotel has a very small elevator, the parking lot is small and limited spaces. If you have anything bigger than a jeep […] liberty you will be in trouble getting in and out of those spaces. Off street parking suggested. The rooms were OK at best, nice tv's and cable channels and that's where I stop. The room I had was a queen double bed and the bathroom was old with the sink leaking water. Told the staff and they were supposed to come fix it while we were out for the day never did it. Called again and said they were coming never came again. There was a kitchen with just a sink and that's it. Tthis place must have some historical value otherwise it needs renovation badly. Botom line if you want a place to sleep, shower, and handle your bathroom duties that is really close to the airport so you don't have to wake up extra early to drop off the rental or catch your flight this is your place. Don't expect breakfast, closets, or anything else you get at good hotels. Also they overpay because of the convenience so keep that in mind as well. I saw some single king size bed rooms that look cleaner and better maybe that's your best bet but THIS IS NOT FAMILY APPROVED IN MY BOOK. Business Travelers or Singles/couples at best. Pictures are grossly misleading. The mom and pop that run the place are very nice, but the hotel leaves much to be desired, old, run down, broken fixtures, torn up window coverings. Even my seven year old said it smells gross. There will not be a repeat visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't have High Expectations and you'll be O.K."
For the price, the room was O.K. Didn't like that the front door remained unlocked, even though we had a key for entry. MANY homeless folks roaming streets and probably hang out in hotel hallway and entry stairs. Sure smells like it. Room was not very clean and had a terrible smell. "Not Very Clean"
The staff, or at least the lady I encountered at the front desk, was kind and personable, but that was unfortunately not enough to override the unpleasing condition of the hotel. "Not what I expected"
I have been to San Diego before for business and leisure. This hotel is in a good neighborhood, but the hotel did not make me feel safe. The entrance to the hotel rooms is separate from the check-in desk, so that anyone from the street can walk up to your room's door. There is no hotel staff monitoring this. The staff was nice, but please note that […] they will charge you a $15 energy efficiency fee when you check in. The door keycard had a pizza joint advertisement instead of the hotel's name, plus I got my room number by them writing it on a tiny Post-It note. I agree that may sound a bit snobby, but it should have been my first clue on what the room was going to be like. The door only had one lock, not the standard two seen at most hotels. The bathroom floor was like walking in a movie theater it was so sticky, I could hear my shoes trying to pull themselves away from the floor. Some of the "nightlights" were punched in and it just felt like a shady place that people come to hide their affairs. The bedding (at least the comforter) was actually nice, but after I had seen everything else I booked a room at another hotel and got out of there. I know sometimes people can sound like major divas in what they expect from a hotel, but in my 5 years of traveling regularly for business I never felt as uncomfortable in a room as I did in this one. My "stay" at the this hotel was the first time that I ever left a hotel before spending a night there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This is an very old 4 story apt. house that is converted into a hotel. It was clean but very old. It did have fire sprinklers in the rooms, but I worried regarding the open stairwall doors on all the floors. While the location is great the overall condition of the hotel is a little rough. We left our room at noon and hung the room service sign on our door. "Well..."
The hotel is more like a motel. It smells very odd. The room I stayed in was relatively small. It had two queen beds, a decent T.V., refrigerator and microwave. However, it was difficult to walk around it and to fit out suitcases. The bathroom was okay, but it had the toilet cover broken and the towel rack was broken. The parking is very small as well, […] but I got lucky and found a spot for my car during the whole stay. Don’t think you will get a full breakfast. You won’t. The good thing about staying here would be mostly the location, since you are basically in Little Italy. Several good restaurants, delis and bars at a short walking distance (and 7 Eleven across the street). Honestly, I would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"VERY UNSECURE!!"
The hotel is in walking distance to Little Italy which is great for dining. The location is great decent neighborhood. Room was possibly the tiniest hotel […] room I've ever seen and set up strange...Only stayed one night but I won't go back as there are other better maintained & secure hotels in the area. "U Git Whatcha Pay 4"
Great location and rate in Little Italy, but you get what you pay for. Carpets, drapes and bedspread looked decades old, and it looked like that might have been the last time they were cleaned. Tiny room. Only main light in room was motion-activated when you came within a few feet of the door, so it would turn off every 10 or 15 minutes if you were […] at the desk or in bed watching TV. Light burned out in bathroom. Toilet sounded like it would break every time you flushed. Internet extremely slow if it worked at all (desk lady extremely courteous, bent over backwards trying to help). Message light on phone apparently on permanently, because when I called the desk, the guy just said to ignore it. Side door of hotel didn't close properly; security risk.
