I did not realize from photos that it was a motel. I don't believe any of the rooms look like the pictures. We booked 2 rooms. The first was already occupied and the second room had the most horrifying stench. Suffice it to say our stay only lasted 2 seconds. The staff was very gracuoys and helpful

Loved the location. You can easily walk to the restaurants and shopping at Old Town. Room price was excellent. Beds were a little uncomfortable, and walls were paper thin. So, if you have noisy neighbors arguing at 11:45 p.m. like we did, be prepared to wake up! The motel staff were great, and it's so nice they offer a continental breakfast. The room was a very large and nice. My only issue was with the plumbing as I couldn't get the temperature for my shower to stay the same - one minute almost scalding hot and the next too cold and I never touched the faucet. Room was clean. Very well maintained. Liked the little bar area where we could heat water and use refrigerator. Area quiet. No outside noise at all! Staff was very helpful and friendly. We have stayed previously at Americas Best Value Inns and have been quite satisfied with the reasonable priced lodging, friendly management / staff, comfort, cleanliness of rooms, etc. This was NO exception... We were very happy with the visit. We typically stay on Motel Circle while in San Diego. It's not the Hilton but definitely not a Motel 6. It is an older motel with the Old San Diego feel. It's a few blocks from Old Town San Diego. But they have clean, comfortable accommodations (our king bed was VERY comfortable). And with the reasonable pricing, you can spend your dollars enjoying the city's attractions, which are also close.... SeaWorld, Old Town, Airport, Harbor... all within 5 miles, & minutes by car. It's an older hotel that have been received some updating. The room was spacious. Furniture is a little dated. Bathroom was a little cramped and does not have an exhaust fan. It was our first time to visit San Diego. We needed something close to sea world and the beach and both were about 5 minutes away. The front desk people were awesome with giving us maps making sure we knew were to go. They help with everything. The hotel was great for the price. A/C worked awesome. Recognizing that this is a no-frills establishment, one expects minor inconviences (no on/off switch on the bedside lamp, a hole in the wall, closet door off of its track, etc.) However, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel was quiet -- I got a good night's sleep, so was satisfied.

This hotels has everything you need at a great price. Clean, well maintained rooms. It has a nice swimming pool.Close to great dining in Old Town San Diego. It is minutes to downtown, Little Italy, Petco Park, San Diego MTS Trolly is only blocks away. Close to Mission Bay and beaches. I have had excellant service every time I have stayed.

I stayed here for almost 3 weeks, and the internet worked only about 3-4 days out of that time. So, given that they have been well aware of the problem for a while and don't seem to be doing anything to fix it, you better not count on having internet if you stay here. Pretty frustrating. I've stayed at this hotel many times over the past year, but I won't stay there again. It used to have very reliable and fast free in-room wi-fi. Since updates to their wi-fi network, it has become extremely unreliable and slow. This was apparently a poorly executed attempt to prevent guests from using the high bandwidth to download copyrighted materials. […] Furthermore, while the rooms are attractive and comfortable, the housekeeping staff does an atrocious job. On my last visit the coffeemaker was filthy from the previous guest and there was trash behind various pieces of furniture. There is good cable TV service, but the TVs themselves range from mediocre to relics from the 1970s and if the night desk clerk doesn't care for you the chances are good that he'll find a room which has a crappy TV. The last one mysteriously turned itself into an FM radio after I fell asleep and in the morning a maintenance man had to come with a specific remote control to turn it back into a TV. The drain in the bathtub was clogged and I found myself in ankle deep water within seconds of stepping into the shower. The ventilation system has no heat in summer, which in San Diego can be quite cool near the ocean. Their solution is to provide space heaters, but only if you know to ask for one. When you turn on the ventilation in most rooms you are subjected to hideous noise and temperature controls that also appear to have been installed decades ago. Finally, even in 2nd story rooms you are likely to attract an army of ants if you so much as leave a can of Coke open on a nightstand. Numerous times I've had to call the front desk to have maintenance come with pesticide to deter the ants. All of this is extremely disheartening, because the managers are very professional and courteous, and not long ago the property's deficiencies were made up for by the reasonable rates (especially when booked online), but despite recent painting of the guest rooms, there is a severe lack of proper maintenance, Read more

Everything was fine until I took a shower in the morning and discovered a very strong sulfer smell in the water which was very disturbing. This is too bad becasue the property is quite nice other than this problem.
