The ultra-modern W San Diego hotel is located in downtown San Diego, Calif. This property stands three blocks from Little Italy, four blocks from San Diego Bay and eight blocks from the Gaslamp Quarter.

The hotel completed an extensive renovation of its public areas in May 2012, its lobby features post-modern décor, dramatic lighting, bay window seats and 18 plasma monitors hung above the bar that project sunsets, the northern lights and landscape scenes. The hotel's Living Room Lounge serves breakfast starting at 6:30 AM, lunch and dinner, and the rooftop bar is now open to the public. Limited-hour Town Car transportation is offered in the downtown area based upon availability. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the W Living Room. A 24-hour business center houses two computers equipped with high-speed Internet access. SWEAT 24-hour Fitness Center contains cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, and offers personal training instruction. An outdoor swimming pool is also available.

This hotel offers 258 guestrooms located in a 19-story building. Beds are outfitted with pillowtop mattresses, 350-thread count sheets and down comforters. Bay windows are padded with thick cushions. Rooms include 37-inch high-definition TV and high-speed wired and wireless Internet access for a fee. Bathrooms feature marble vanities with square sinks and glass-enclosed shower stalls. W hotel's dog treatments include turndown treats, dog beds and a gift bag that contains a pet toy, a treat and a bone.

"Smallest room for the price"
For the price of the room is way too small and nothing great about it, just feel like 3 star hotel, but everything is so expensive not worth the money spend. I am going back to Hyatt next time. Hotel was very pretty. Staff was friendly and helpful. With the cost of the room I can't imagine why they cannot offer free wick. Parking service was great but pricey. "Cleaning Crew Not Up to Par"
We were extremely disappointed with the daily cleaning service. "Good Rooms"
Okay lets get somethings clear………..the hotel was clean, had interesting décor, the food was amazing, and the rooms where nice. I opted for the green option (I was tired and just wanted to get some sleep in the room as fast as possible), which means the room did not get serviced during the entire stay, I found this out later(the lady at the front desk […] might have mentioned it but again I was too tired to pay any attention). I think the green option should at least include making the room, just not replacing every towel (everyday). For that reason I am not putting the room condition at the top of the rankings. The hotel does not have a Parking, which can put a dent in your pocket if you go the valet route. So if you are looking to save, don’t rent a car. W also is not following the trend most hotels are; there is no Free WiFi, or complimentary breakfast. If you are looking for these options being free, look elsewhere. "Pluses of W in San Diego, and minuses"
This hotel is a pleasant change from most chains. Decor is eye appealing and cheerful; room decor really great. The staff was cheerful and really helpful, especially the valet parkers, the concierge (Joseph and James), and the bartender Patrick who gave us some suggestions and directions. I loved that the hotel is small and intimate, not vast and overwhelming. […] We only ate in hotel restaurant for 1 breakfast and service was slow. The bathroom needs new lighting system. Have to turn on vent fan with light (noisy) and not bright enough light. The only real drawback was how you had to approach the entrance in your car. I hope they can improve that somehow. Despite the bargain room price be cautious of hidden fees - such as valet parking at $35 per night, or the use of an in-room refrigerator at $25 per stay, or in-room internet at around $15.00. "Worse Night Ever - otherwise great hotel"
This hotel doubles as a club at night, so if you are planning on sleeping at night - forget it. This should have been fully disclosed when I purchased this deal as I would have avoided this hotel. I usually love to stay at W hotels. This was my first time staying at the San Diego W, and I have to say that it was just OK when it should be exceptional. The carpet in the room was really dirty and the ipod dock was missing. The bed was very comfortable and I did sleep well. Valet parking is overpriced and when I picked up my car out front at checkout […] the valet took my ticket and my money and didn't even offer to help me with my luggage. I have stayed at much nicer W hotels, and I have stayed at other hotels in the same area of San Diego that are much nicer than this, and probably much cheaper as well.
