"Not all the staff was very helpful"
The place is extremely worn. The dresser had huge holes in it and the air-conditioner had a high pitch screech. The man who checked us in was less than helpful--apparently he was having a bad day. Bed was clean and for the most part I only was in the room to get a few hours sleep. There were red smudges on the light switches and crusty stains on the table and end table. "One Night is Perfect . . . ."
if you are coming in or going out. We were meeting friends and staying in the Gaslamp the next 3 nights and just needed 1 night. The Staff was helpful, even gave us a gift! The "breakfast" was toast, cereal, fruit and juice. One good thing was the proximity to "Little Italy". It is 2 blocks away and easily walkable on a bust street. "Great hotel for older people meeting relatives"
The room was adequate except for the very old toilet that was hard to flush. Also window air conditioning is not the best as it comes on all night every few minutes. Great location close to all attractions. We especially enjoyed being just a few blocks from Little Italy. Pool is small and not heated, but felt fine in August. "more like a motel than a hotel"
the room looked clean but the non-smoking room reaked of smoke. They did have a sign saying if you smoke they charge you $300.00 to clean well if they charged the last guest they sure didn't use it to get rid of the smell. We left two plastic hotel disposable cups on the night stand and housekeeping didn't throw them out and didn't replace them where […] the coffee maker was. The doors sure could use some paint on the outside or clean them up a bit. Over all it was ok since we spent limited time in the room. Location was very convenient. Close to Little Italy & Gaslamp areas. We used bus/tram first few days and it is close to stops for both of these. Rented a car for a couple of days at the end of our stay and it is super close to the airport rental facilities and a gas station right there for fill-up before returning car. Not a great hotel to be in. This was my 8th stay in San Diego and I thought I was going to get a little more for my buck. Yes, ITS A DAYS INN but I expected a little more for my money. Room with a bed and bathroom. If that is all you are looking for, then book this hotel. Short walk to the USS Midway and harbor. Don't want to walk, then hop a ride on a "bike cab". No thrills hotel.
