San Diego’s waterfront airport lies northwest of downtown, which is home to the San Diego Convention Center, PetCo Park stadium, and the Gaslamp Quarter’s. That historic neighborhood’s restaurants and bars are the hub of the city’s nightlife. Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo form a green swath in this urban jungle. "best bang for your money."
Awesome luxury hotel. Surrounding area and the entrance is very presentable. Friendly staff and great service. The best part is, it is located close to everything walking distance. I enjoyed my stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I would stay again."
Very nice, old hotel, that is very well maintained. My only complaint is that it was really an issue to just get ice. At the price, ice should be there without asking, and we had to ask twice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"We had a great stay at The Westgate Hotel!"
We booked this hotel as it was central to all San Diego highlights: Gas Lamp, Midway, Seaport Village, including our trip to the Holiday Bowl (Qualcom Stadium), where my UCLA Bruins bombed out. The hotel staff was awesome, they were "old school" in the sense they remembered your name, pushed elevator buttons for you, asked how your day was going, they […] even gave me a little fun intended "hard time" for the result of my Bruins game. The hotel lobby staff was accomodating and polite, the concierge was equally accomodating as was both the morning & evening cleaning staff. We had one issue with our breakfast room service, but the matter was immediately resolved by Alberto the Food & Beverage Manager. The restaurant was equally accomodating and our server (Juan) was extremely professional. Overall, the room was clean, beds were comfortable, spacious, our balcony view was awesome as well. I would highly recommend this hotel and intend to revisit in April, my youngest son requested to come back to the hotel for his birthday! In closing, I've read comments regarding this hotel being a little "aged" and the valet service fee as "a little steep". The hotel has "character" only gained over time, it's service personnel is exceptional and although the valet cost is a little high, there is just no parking available in this area of San Diego, the service includes "in and out" capabilities throughout the day. The work out area is fantastic as well. Thank you Westgate Hotel, we will come back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This place is spectacular. We absolutely loved it, although I wish they had a discount for the Sunday brunch for people staying in the hotel. We so wanted to go, but to costly for 4 of us. They treated us very well, didn't want to leaveGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great quality room and service!"
This hotel has outstanding service starting from the moment you step out of your car and make it to your room, throughout your stay and back to your car! The room was spacious, nicely decorated with very comfortable bed and furniture. This hotel is located downtown San Diego by the Gas Lamp district and next to Horton Plaza all within walking distance. […] Tidbit - if you want ice, don't go looking for the machine on any floor, simply call room service and they will bring the ice to your room, plenty of it! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellant hotel."
I was very surprised to have this 5 star hotel available from an on line service. I have actually avoided these services in the past but I won't hesitate to use Expedia again. "Weekend getaway"
Beautiful, comfortable, Extremely well kept hotel. Very kind and helpful staff. Only 2 blocks from gas lamp area, lots of places to eat and shopping at Horton Plaza 1 block away. 10th. floor view of city is unbeatable. Only low point is the street noise at night. Amazing how it can carry up so high.Genuine Expedia guest review
"What a pleasure!"
The chief concierge (Shraddha) took great care of us. It was our anniversary and she made reservations for us at a wonderful restaurant (Osetra) where they treated us like royalty at her request. When we were out for the evening, she had a special surprise waiting for us in our room when we got back. That made our stay very, very special. The hotel […] has a great location in the Gas Lamp district and is within walking distance of some great little cafes and shops. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Luxury, opulence in the Gaslamp Quarter"
What an amazing weekend at the Westgate. From the moment you walk in the door you are met with old school opulence not found today. Thick rugs, heavy chandeliers, gilded mirrors and sweeping brass railed staircases all added to the lushness of this hotel. The room we stayed in was large and quiet. We loved the fact that the rooms were located inside […] of a small alcove, with exterior door in the hallway, making for absolute rest and peace. At night, the turndown service removed all of our heavy decorative bedding, so returning late at night we only had to pop into our bed. We won't stay anywhere else when we visit San Diego. "EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!!"
I thought the hotel was just fantastic. At first I felt underdressed when I walked in to the lobby, but the receptionist was friendly and reassured me it was okay. The room was big, clean and pretty. Cheaper than the other hotels nearby for the night, but it looks just as expensive. Friendly staff, great room service and just overall a great place to […] relax and get away. "Classy hotel for couples"
Great hotel! We came here on our honeymoon and my wife and I loved our stay there. The location of the hotel was perfect where you were a short walk away from the Gaslamp District. All other locations were either walking distance or a short cab ride was needed. Our Concierge was AMAZING! We talked to her just about everyday and she was very helpful […] guiding us with what we should be looking to do in San Diego. The only negative comments that I would have for this hotel is that I found the beds to be uncomfortable (however my wife thought they were good). "Great hotel for a family!"
Don't have sufficient stuff at the front desk, concierge bell boy, and big lobby with out any one to provide drink. Lobby area need renovation. Room service close when it would be needed most. No visible activity as to where you can dine in the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was PERFECT. My favorite aspect was the turn down service. We returned to the room to find soft music playing, the bed turned down, chocolates on our pillows, and the trash had been disposed of. The location was great; we walked to everything. My only complaint is the mattress was very hard. I would love to stay at the Westgate again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I am very picky about hotels. Cleanliness is the most important thing, and this hotel is spotless.
