Location.
Set on 14 waterfront acres, this San Diego hotel is on Shelter Island, framed by America's Cup Harbor and San Diego Bay. A yacht-filled marina is adjacent. SeaWorld and San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter are both within 6 miles.
Hotel Features.
Flower-lined walkways, waterfalls, a koi pond, and two colorful resident parrots make the hotel feel like a romantic tropical hideaway. An outdoor pool is surrounded by lounge chairs and palm trees. Bicycle rentals are available for touring Shelter Island (first two hours complimentary).
With ocean views, Humphreys Restaurant – the hotel's fine-dining restaurant – offers contemporary, international cuisine and a wide-ranging wine list. With a rotating menu for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant also offers a children’s menu. Breakfast is served daily from 6:30 AM to 11 AM. Live entertainment is presented in the lounge nightly. May through October, Humphreys Half Moon Inn hosts a renowned concert series at its outdoor theater.
Guestrooms.
Mediterranean-inspired guestrooms and suites are distributed among 19 low-rise buildings (no elevators). All accommodations offer TV with premium channels and video games (fees apply), wireless Internet access, refrigerators, coffee/tea maker, and in-room safes. Suites are larger than guestrooms and have private furnished patios or balconies.

We stayed here the night before attending a Charger football game. The hotel was more than i expected. My room was upgraded with no mention to me. The checkout time was noon so i felt no rush to get up and get out in the morning. April, the lady at the front desk, was more than helpful with great food recomendations. The hotel is clean and quiet. Room service is expensive, but I ordered something very specific and it came exactly the way I wanted. Older hotel with charm, but also some problems. No AC available in our room, and it was hot and stuffy!. "Water view" is a view of two parking lots with water in the distance, and noisy! If you are given the option, or just ask, for a room on the garden side. We took the 1st floor and it was like being on a tropical island. If you're on the 2nd floor you have more of a chance of seeing the Macaws or Parrots that are wild in the area. We walked on the marina front everyday and really enjoyed ourselves. "Nice Hotel - Close to Coronado"
Hotel was nice. It's a little bit hard to describe. they've clearly updated the "suites" recently, but they still have a slight feeling of "rustic-ness" to them (re: old). Can't really tell why I feel that way - Room was A+. Just a feeling I couldnt' shake. Hotel is on the Marina and VERY near to Coronado Island and therefore to the Navy Air Base. […] So, make sure you're prepared to hear helicopters flying overhead / landing VERY frequently. also, pretty close to San Diego Airport so you'll get the sound of Jets too. The noise-disruption level is minimal in the rooms, though, at least from my perspective. I didn't have a problem sleeping or lounging. Just something you want to plan for so that you are not disappointed. I would agree with others regarding the "naming" of the rooms. The upper-scale rooms are facing the pool and very few rooms actually face / view the water / marina. Most will face the street (fairly busy) and others will face inward toward the pool (which is nice, but can be noisy sometimes, with children splashing / laughing / etc... We enjoyed our stayed. We had a very large room with a kitchen. There was a nice pool area that didn't seem to be very busy, so at times we had the pool and hot tub all to ourselves. We felt this was a great location. It is close to the airport, and seemed to be close to things we wanted to do in San Diego. Vi var to jenter som var i San Diego i en uke og vi nøt virkelig oppholdet på Humphrey's. Vi kom veldig tidlig, men det var ikke noe problem for dem å ta vare på bagasjen, mens vi så oss litt rundt. Vi kom tilbake i ett tida og fikk sjekke inn før tida. De hadde veldig hyggelig personale og fine, store rom med gode senger. Ligger litt utenfor sentrum, […] men god bussforbindelse til Old Town, hvor det bare er å bytte til trikk for å komme til sentrum, eller buss til stranda, Sea World, eller hva det måtte være. Servicen på hotellet var kjempebra, dog et minus at frokost ikke er inkludert. Resturanten er også litt dyr, men det finnes mange andre og rimeligere alternativer i området. Das Hotel liegt etwas weit aussen von San Diego, dafür direkt am Hafen. Viele gute Restaurants sind rundherum zu finden und auch zu Fuss gut erreichbar. Das zum Hotel gehörende Restaurant kann nur bedingt empfohlen werden. Preis/Leistung stimmen einfach nicht. Speck zum Frühstücksei ist immer kalt. Dafür sind die Konzerte in der Hotelbar ein Genuss, […] wenn die Lautstärke nicht permanent an der Schmerzgrenze liegen würde. Die Zimmer selbst sind geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Ausser das nicht brauchbar langsame WLAN (welches wenigstens gratis zur Verfügung steht) gibt es eigentlich nichts auszusetzen. Schlecht war eigentlich nur die Betreuung an der Reception.
