San Diego’s waterfront airport lies northwest of downtown, which is home to the San Diego Convention Center, PetCo Park stadium, and the Gaslamp Quarter’s. That historic neighborhood’s restaurants and bars are the hub of the city’s nightlife. Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo form a green swath in this urban jungle. Offshore, Coronado Island offers postcard views of the city skyline.
see all hotels in San DiegoThe location was excellent and within walking distance to several venues. The staff was very pleasant, however, I was very disappointed with the facility overall. The room was a little smaller than I expected and it was very dusty. The housekeeper came in at least 2 of the 4 days during my stay to "tidy" up and refresh the towels, but did not provide […] any further cleaning. Also, I ran out of water everyday, on several occasions, whether I was taking a shower or using water from the sink. I will not be recommending this hotel to others. Room was to small to be call a suite. very loud from machinery on their roof top next to the room. Construction was going on outside that started at 7 am. Parking was 30 dollars a day. Construction hit a water line. No water for half and day. Will not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Feels like a cheap motel"
Made a reservation based on ratings. My request to see the room before checking in was met with disdain, so we just went along and checked in, but when we went upstairs, there was a strong deodorizer smell, and the overall feeling was depressing. The room seemed clean but was definitely outdated. Let's say that I would have gladly accepted the conditions […] if the room cost $40. We decided to look elsewhere and checked right out and to their honor, the staff was very accommodating with that. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not worth my money."
The hotel charged me a smoking fine for smoking in the room that never took place. My fiancé and I stayed one night and were only in the room to sleep and considering that neither of us smoke I'm not really sure how this could have taken place. I'm highly offended. Never again will I stay in this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to everything, but close quarters"
While the hotel is close to everything in the Gaslamp quarter the suite was very small and feel it measured less than 200 sq ft. But for the price is was sufficient since we were just looking for a place to sleep after a play. The continental breakfast's presentation could be better; but was adequate for a quick bite, and enough to curb your appetite […] so you can patronize the restaurants in town. Breakfast consisted of hot/cold cereal, coffee, orange juice, apple juice, pastries, apples and is served on the roof-top which provides closed and open air seating with great views. "Pay a little more, stay somewhere else."
Cracked paint, peeling wall paper, dated furniture. Walls so thin you hear police sirens all night long. Not a case of antique and charming, a case of needs updating badly. One positive: staff was fabulous, service was great.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Too much noise from street. Could not sleep/rest here."
We stayed here for 5 nights on the 2nd floor. The nice lady at the reception allowed us to check in two hours early and also the room came with king size bed as oppose to the Queen that was in the deal. Those were the positives along with the rooftop breakfast. Oh by the way, if you are a egg, meat, sausage kind of a person this breakfast is not for […] you, but we loved it. What we hated the most is the quality of our sleep. There was loud music blasting from the neighboring bars until 3 am for first two nights. Third night was quiet but then that is it. On the 4th night it was the music and also other noise from the street. Also what you talk inside the four walls of your room can be heard outside. The walls are poorly insulated for noise. Though this hotel is conviniently located to all attractions, I would not recommend this place to anyone. You are better off staying someplace else or renting a car. There was nothing quaint about gaslamp district, just a few "historic" looking buildings if you carefuly look for their features. Otherwise, it loooks like ordinary place with street filed with old buildings. The streets around the hotelreets were dirty . Tthe corner of Broadway and Fifth is filled with urine smell and the other streets around are full of panhandlers. This hotel is ideal for people looking closer proximity to Bars and Night life.. "not very friendly"
The breakfast was served from 7AM - not early enough for many travelers departing from the San Diego airport where many flights leave early in the morning. But staff would not accommodate your needs at all, not even packing continental breakfast. The staff did not look professional. Let down.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
