This San Diego hotel is across the street from the bay, Coronado ferry, cruise-ship terminal, and the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Petco Park and the convention center are about 1.5 miles from the Wyndham San Diego Bayside. The San Diego Zoo is 2.5 miles east.
The hotel has 3 restaurants including the Elephant & Castle Pub and Restaurant which overlooks the bay and opens to a patio. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. Children dine free when accompanied by a paying adult. Room service is available early morning till late evening. "Ouch"
Well first thing our key didnt work, had to wait for someone to let us in. The beds are very hard little pillows and not enough blankets then to find we were double charged by hotels. "Not for light sleepers"
This hotel was convenient and the room was clean and comfortable. The free airport shuttle and shuttle to the zoo were very handy. I'm a heavy sleeper so didn't have much trouble with the noise. However, my roommate was a light sleeper. The walls seem to be fairly thin. And, as has been mentioned by plenty of others, there can be a fair amount of noise […] from the trains. The only other issue was problems with the room keys. The 2nd night, our room keys wouldn't open the outside door but did work on the room. The 3rd night, they wouldn't work on either. My harbor view room had a view of the roof of the entry portal. It was right next to the elevator with no sound proofing, so I was treated to a loud grinding noice every 30 seconds. Great room -- I didn't feel it was small like other people have stated. Nice TV, HBO, Free WiFi with passcode provided by front desk that you can browse in room. The bathrooms were clean and new and the carpets were very clean. The view was great above the sixth floor and higher in the south tower but if you go lower than that, your view is obscured […] by the four floors in the tower facing the road and the rest of the bay. I lost a pen because I dropped it on the patio of the balcony and it rolled off the balcony. From then on, I was a little frightened to go on the balcony because there was no bumpers for the guardrails to keep other things from rolling off. The wind was pretty fierce this time of year too but that is GREAT for the WONDERFUL sailboat races that I got to enjoy from my bayside view.
