San Diego’s waterfront airport lies northwest of downtown, which is home to the San Diego Convention Center, PetCo Park stadium, and the Gaslamp Quarter’s. That historic neighborhood’s restaurants and bars are the hub of the city’s nightlife. Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo form a green swath in this urban jungle. Offshore, Coronado Island offers postcard views of the city skyline.
see all hotels in San DiegoThe location was perfect for my weekend getaway with a nice view to add to it. Very close to the airport. You can see and hear the planes coming in, but you do get a nice view of the bay. I was only disappointed that there was no Jacuzzi, and that I had to pay $24 to park overnight in the garage. Other than that this place was nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"pleased from my stay at the Wyndham"
I was quite happy with my recent stay at the Wyndham. First off, I must say that the staff were very friendly and helpful. The building seems a bit dated but fairly well maintained. The room also has a mix of old and new.... perhaps during the conversion from the former hotel chain. The bed was not the best especially since I had just come from three […] days at the Grand Hyatt. The view on the 10th floor was great overlooking the bay and the Star of India. A short few blocks bring you to Little Italy, and in another direction to the USS Midway. Airport is close by but air traffic/noise was not an issue. I would definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The outside of the hotel looks a little shabby but our room on the 14th floor overlooking downtown was just great. We loved sitting out on the balcony. The bathroom looked newly remodeled. We asked the front desk for extra towels and a sewing kit and they were brought to our room within 10 minutes. The location is the best. We walked to the gaslamp […] at night and little Italy during the day. I would stay here again. It's the perfect place to stay if you're planning to be out and about. "Close to Amtrack and Trolly Service"
This hotel is super convenient for taking mass transportation. The hotel staff is probably the nicest and most helpful I've ever encountered. The room was fine. A bit on the small side and awkwardly laid out, but it was fine. Nice linens, but pillows too soft. The balcony was really nice, too. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Noisy!!!"
A parking garage is being built next door so lots of construction noise starting at 7am. The airport is also close so the takeoffs are also noisy when I was sitting on the balcony. We checked out days early because of all the noise from the site, airport and surrounding streets. Hotel staff was very nice about it though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was great. We were able to check in early and they did a wonderful job of keeping our rooms clean. The concierge was great, leading us to a few good restaurants and the trolley tour (amazing). The only complaint I would have is that when I had booked I made sure that there were cots available, but upon checking in we were told that putting […] the cots in the room would be a fire hazard. Please be more clear on these issues Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"cruising"
I stayed here only because I was leaving on a cruise the next morning. You definitely cannot beat how close the hotel is to the pier. We walked with our luggage across the street (although they do have free shuttle service). They have a free shuttle service to pick you up from the airport, too. The area is just ok for San Diego, but I would stay there […] again for another cruise departure. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Value & Perfect, Centralized location"
Wonderful location with beautiful views of the bay with the Star of India, Anthony's Seafood Grotto, cruise terminals being just across the street. Very affordable. Also appreciated the free shuttle which will take you downtown, Horton Plaza and Old Towne. Rooms show some signs of wear and tear, but clean and comfortable. Friendly and accommodating […] staff. "Great Package, but watch for hidden charges"
The hotel is in a great location with a lot to do around it. They had amazingly great rates for a last minute New Year's Eve trip. The room was clean ans surroundings were well kept. The only thing I did not like was that their self parking was full, so they told me I would have to valet it. I handed over the keys and went to check in. The next morning, […] a bill for $28 for valet was pushed under my door. I feel that $28 for valet is very pricey for a Holiday Inn, let alone that I was not given an option or told about the cost in advance. Other than that, everything was great at the hotel. not too happy about the sliding bathroom door but was "deco"... its not part of the hotel but i ended up with bumper damage on my auto rental...they filed a claim with their insurance company and reversed ALL the valet charges after i explained the situation...valet was close to top notch in my opinion. staff was helpful but concierge hours MUST be […] posted...i was told to come and check with them for an item the following day and no one was staffing their desk that day...good thing the front desk personnel were to the rescue! overall good rating and would stay there again! Front-desk representative was very pleasant and considerate. Since my stay was only one night I didn't have a chance to fully appreciate the beautiful ocean view. Getting the shuttle to the airport was effortless. I was very pleased with my stay at this Holiday Inn and will definitely choose this hotel when I have a chance to return to San Diego.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great place to end a Cruise"
The only complaint we have is the noise! we were put in the south tower facing the trains and WOW, they were making noise all night long. It would be a good idea if you want to stay at this hotel to bring ear plugs, or ask if they provide them. It was too late for us. The airport is also very close.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Stay Cation N Deigo"
Great view of the Big Bay and awsome sunset. close to fantastic dinning. one thing that needs attention is the bed we had was really uncomfortable, so much that i tossed and turned all night and needed a nap the next day. other than that it was a great get away from the kids for our annivessary. i would go back for another get away but hopefully to […] some new beds and a comfortable nights sleep. :) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"great location if you are taking a cruise"
We loved that we could walk from the port, after our cruise, to this hotel. Also, they provide a free shuttle to the airport which is 8 minutes away from the hotel. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Get a room on the water side of the hotel, as the city side is very noisy. Also, I wish there was a safe in the room. Other than that, the hotel was […] perfect. "Good value"
Outside looks very dated, but the inside is in better condition. Location is great right on the water, even if you have a room that doesn't overlook the water, you get views of downtown. Nice deck with chairs to enjoy it by. Street noise is high, but that would be the case anywhere down there. Bathroom shower was large, no tub, but I rarely use one […] anyway. Only one sink, which got a bit crowded. Comfortable beds, slept well the whole week. Didn't go into the pool, but it looked nice. Large gift shop. 2 restaurants onsite, not technically owned by holiday inn. Parking is expensive, $22 a day, but would be similar at any hotel located downtown. Walked a mile from here to the convention center, enjoyable walk along the boardwalk. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not for light sleepers"
This hotel was convenient and the room was clean and comfortable. The free airport shuttle and shuttle to the zoo were very handy. I'm a heavy sleeper so didn't have much trouble with the noise. However, my roommate was a light sleeper. The walls seem to be fairly thin. And, as has been mentioned by plenty of others, there can be a fair amount of noise […] from the trains. The only other issue was problems with the room keys. The 2nd night, our room keys wouldn't open the outside door but did work on the room. The 3rd night, they wouldn't work on either. All-in-all, I would recommend this hotel for heavy sleepers. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place to stay!!"
The location for us was terrific. Access right across the street to Bay and eateries were within walking distance. Great restaurant and bar on premises. Easy access to trolly and Am-Track, and for the most part, employees helpful and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review

Proximity to the cruise shiP terminal sealed the deal. Close to the Midway and Seaprot Village. An older hotel but well maintained. Twin fitness rooms and a pool. Get a bayview room. Would recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Right for the Price"
The hotel was adequate for the price. Situated in front of the waterfront with a good pub and deli. The rooms were clean. The staff was friendly and efficient. However, often the front desk staff seemed overwhelmed with too many people checking in at one time. They let us store our luggage after we checked out while we enjoyed lunch in the pub. Their […] shuttle would not take us to the convention center and the gaslamp area. Too bad. Taxi service from there was quick. It's walking distance from most of the sights in the area. "Great Hotel for Service and Cleanliness."
WE Loved It!! The hotel is one and a half miles from airport. from our balcony we could see the planes land and take off .Planes land and takeoff every90 seconds or so. We didn't mine it at all. After 10.30 pm the planes stop. It's bedtime for us. WE were on the 11th floor room 1155 Bay Side What a View of the bay!!. The hotel has a shuttle to the airport […] and also a shuttle to the Village Seaport and the Zoo.For Free. The food was great and the service at the hotel. You can dine outside or inside. You are in walking distance to so many things.A must is, the 2 hour cruise,it is narrarated and tours the north and south bays .Take a ferry to Coranado .Take a 2 hour tour on the trolley, you can get off at there stops and get back on when your done site seeing. Make Sure you ask for a non-obstructed Bay view room. The only thing that bothered me was, there was no exhuast fan in the bathroom. They have a air vent how it works is a mystery. The door to the bathroom is a frosted glass sliding door. It didn't brother us. Overall the Hotel is fine. San Diego is a Beautiful City go and see for yourself. C/S. "Hotel Experience"
The hotel was nice, excellent view of the bay. I have 2 complaints. # 1 the concierge person was not personable. I asked about shuttle info to the airport for our return and she said you have to follow the schedule and gave me a card with the shuttle info. Also I would like to see 2 chairs in the room that are comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good spot in San Diego"
I chose this hotel because of its location on the embarcadero with lovely water views. It is easy to get to all parts of San Diego from there.
