San Diego’s waterfront airport lies northwest of downtown, which is home to the San Diego Convention Center, PetCo Park stadium, and the Gaslamp Quarter’s. That historic neighborhood’s restaurants and bars are the hub of the city’s nightlife. Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo form a green swath in this urban jungle. Offshore, Coronado Island offers postcard views of the city skyline.
see all hotels in San DiegoThe beds were very uncomfortable, the air conditioning didn't cool the room, it was alot of outside noise, and the whole room had a feeling of shabbiness. We stayed for an event and when we tried to straighten out a problem with parking billing, no one even tried to be helpful. Between the area construction and cruise ship events, traffic is a nightmare. […] Best choice is to self park off the Pacific Highway side (the walk to the room from self parking and valet is just about the same anyway, although you will only save $2.00). Very disappointing for $170 a night (the same room others were charged $110 for). We will not stay at this property again. Location and the happy hour food at the bar are the only good things. "Great Place for a San Diego visit"
Though in decor the Wyndham Bayside shows it's Holiday Inn roots, it's a well-run hotel in a convenient location for those who want to explore San Diago's attractions. It's close to a trolly stop which will take you from Santee to San Isidro, and the hotel's courtesy vans not only take one to and from the airport but also down town and to the world […] famous San Diago zoo multiple times a day. Nice bay-side views with balconies. In-house restaurant and other's near by (but your best bet is Old Town or the Thai place in the gaslight district). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Sucky"
Hotel was clean, but you are required to pay for parking daily parking even if your a guest , and it dose not come cheep. 25$ a night. You are right next to the harbor , and it's beautiful at night. but there is often work and construction noise till 1230 at night. Not a good place to stay in you want some R&R. I hated itGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Avoid it like the plague"
We are experienced travelers and use Expedia frequently. We booked an upgraded room with a king sized bed, an ocean view, and a balcony. When we checked in, we were given a room, that while technically faced the ocean, was more a view of the lower canopy and the restaurant across the street. Also, there was no balcony. A sliding door with a railing […] across the front is not a balcony. The room also had water damage to the ceiling of the bathroom. We were told that the only other rooms with a view and a balcony had two beds (we assumed queen). As it was 11 pm, we accepted the two bed room. To our surprise, the beds were full-sized. After a very uncomfortable night in a full-sized bed (we paid for king), we complained the next morning. Miraculously they found us a room with a king sized bed, a real balcony, and an ocean view. This room had water stains on the carpet, and trash left over from the previous occupants. Also the AC didn't work properly. We didn't want to move again, so we lived with it. During the trip, we decided to look for a spa . We stopped by the concierge to get information and recommendations (pretty much the job of a concierge). She simply handed us a 3-ring binder that had old brochures and business cards literally falling and and were told to "pick one." We definitely got the impression that the hotel intentionally put Expedia customers in the worst rooms. Given our first night experience, we don't feel that we got what we paid for. "Too many issues"
The front desk sent me to 2 dirty rooms before finally giving me a clean room. Even the clean room had stains and broken furniture. Very disappointed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"disappointing at best"
Hotel room was in disrepair with wallpaper falling off the walls, shower was a walk-in that flooded the bathroom floor when used, and the filter on the A/C unit looked like it hadn't been changed in a year.Add in the fact that they want to charge 20-some extra dollars for parking on the grounds and the inconvenience of all the construction taking place […] around the hotel... It was sad at best. The next morning we considered eating at the Elephant something or another bar and eatery near the lobby but the wait to be seated at the all but empty establishment was pathetic; upon arriving we were told it would be about a 15 minute wait but 20 minutes later the three groups in front of us had yet to get a table and we were again told it was going to be about 15 minutes... I would caution anyone considering this hotel to think twice, pause, and think again before flushing your money down the drain in one of the most amazing cities in the States. "Terrible hotel, uncomfortable, bad food"
This is a terrible hotel to stay. I stayed 1 night, the rooms was smelly, and I could not sleep because of the noise. Never stay here. The food at the restaurant sucks.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location, Poor Service"
This was the worst experience I've ever had with a Holiday Inn. Normally, there are certain standards I've come to expect with Holiday Inn, but this was horrible! We took a cab from another hotel to this Holiday Inn. The bell men decided to just watch us get our luggage out of the cab, instead of helping us. The Concierge was ok, but I could tell she […] was getting annoyed with customers and having to check in luggage before our room was ready. We decided to rent a car, and had to get to the airport. We did ride the free shuttle from the airport to the hotel, but the driver was agitated and arguing with another customer. Granted, she came on the shuttle acting inappropriately, but there are certainly better ways to handling difficult customers than having a full-on argument with them. The location of the hotel is good, but definitely needs some updates, and certainly some instructions on customer service. We will never be back to this location! "Horrible experience"
All of the hotel staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. The bed was worn down and uncomfortable. The pool was in bad shape. Overall I will never stay here again or recommend it to anyone else.Genuine Expedia guest review

Rooms were not the type we paid for. They gave use the cheapest rooms they had and neglected to inform us of this difference. Plumbing was leaky and the rooms reeked of mold. Front desk staff could care less when I complained.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not Impressed"
Hotel room needs to be remodeled and cleaned up. Carpet is very old and nasty looking. Holiday Inn needs to take a look at these rooms, The price is not what you would pay at motel 6.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Holiday Inn San Diego on the bay a disappoinment"
Hotel room was dirty black fingerprint smudge marks on the doors and jams and hair in the tub on our arrival and the carpet was FILTHY! No ceiling fan in the restroom and not so much as a mini fridge or ice bucket to keep anything cold. We pre-paid so were stuck here, We will never stay here again and our opinion of Holiday Inn has lowered considerably […] based on this recent experience. What should be disclosed is the high amount that is charged daily for parking (not talking valet just regular parking). Tried ordering to go from the in hotel restaurant and they forgot one of the meals. An absolutely horrible experience at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Bring your earplugs!"
It was lovely in the lobby and the gift shop had nice, high quality merchandie. The room was not as nice, the sliding glass door didn't shut completely and were falling off the tracks. The bathroom needed new floors and shower heads. The most annoying things were the foghorn that beeped EVERY seven seconds, and the faulty heating vent that made rattling […] sounds about ten minutes. When I complained to Zirvinia (sp?) at the front desk, she couldn't care less and never so much as said an apology for my lack of a decent night's sleep on my layover. Not impressed and don't recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
