Located in downtown San Diego, this recently-renovated hotel is a half-mile from Balboa Park. San Diego Bay and Maritime Museum of San Diego are both 1 mile away. San Diego Convention Center and the Gaslamp Quarter are 1.5 miles from the hotel, while San Diego Zoo is 2.5 miles away.

"Good basic hotel"
Comfortable, clean and quiet room, good staff at front desk but not enough of them. Room service was fast but the worst food I have ever had. Hotel was a $10 cab ride (inc tip) to the Gaslamp district. And it is not cheaper to park in the $5 parking lot across the street as some people have said because it is $5 every 9 hours which works out more expensive […] than just paying $17 for the night. Comfortable room and beds. Recommend instruction on the air conditioning / heating unit which was old and was no longer controlled on the unit itself but by the thermostat.. We had to call the staff to figure that out since it seemed to be broken.The staff was accommodating giving us a higher room and on the non - freeway side, so noise was no problem, […] but I wonder about the rooms on the freeway side?The hotel is within walking distance of both downtown and Balboa Park but the immediate neighborhood is a bit sketchy. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the I-5 entrance, Balboa Park, and the Gaslamp district. The hotel was nice and very clean. The workers were friendly. The only complaint I have is that they charge $17 a day for parking and that wasn't mentioned during the reservation. They also do not have microwaves or refridgerators in the room. "Great overnight spot"
Clean rooms with soft sheets & comfortable beds. Towels were a little rough. Close proximity to Little Italy & Gaslamp district. Downtown area so no scenic views. "nice. expedia should let us know shuttle schedule"
Our problem was with the shuttle service provided. Expedia did not say that the shuttle service was NOT 24/7. We arrived late and the shuttle service was there but in the morning we had to leave BEFORE 6 a.m. No shuttle service. We had to take a cab so another $20 with tip. When we got back from Maui, there was no shuttle service as late as we got in. […] So another cab drive... $20. We would hope that Expedia would let people know that shuttles do not run 24 hours. Had a great stay at this hotel. Was in town for 6 nights, the airport shuttle was very convenient, view from the 15th floor facing the bay was nice. On arrival, the front desk comped the refrigerator since I was staying for so many nights, which was a plus! I had a conference at the convention center which on a nice day is a nice walk about 1 mile. […] Close walking distance to little italy as well. he area of the hotel is near the highway for those who rent a car. I wasn't sure about the neighborhood but within 5 blocks of the Gaslight district which is really cool. Didn't want to walk it at night as there are a lot of homeless people in this area but very close to great restaurants, the zoo, airport, convention center.
