"needs to upgrade beds"
First of all, Hotels.com did not make clear that this property is in the midst of major renovation, but I can hardly blame Embassy Suites for that. The rate was decent and the Front Desk comped all the regular surcharges: Parking, Wifi, and cooked-to-order breakfast. The double bed suite was roomy, but why double beds?? More than enough room for two […] queen size beds. That would be my only complaint about the room. Once the renovations are complete, the property will be undoubtedly gorgeous. You can be just as sure that the low rate I got from hotels.com will go way up and all the surcharges will be back! The location is great, easy access to US101, right on the bay with the bay trail right out the back door. The cooked-to-order breakfast wasn't all that great. There were great queues after 8am and the food wasn't spectacular. The daily 5-7pm happy hour of complimentary cocktails was nice, but who knows if that will still be there after the renovations are done. Staff is friendly and efficient. have stayed at this Embassy Suites many times. It is currently under renovation with the entire inner courtyard closed. the elevator service is disrupted and the entire place is covered in dust. The pool is also closed though you are welcome to walk a half a mile down the road and use the one at the next neighboring hotel. "Airport Embassy Suites"
The hotel staff was friendly and they had one of the best breakfast buffets I've ever seen. The room was cold (near freezing I think) and there was a sign near the thermostat that said they don't turn on the heat unless the outside air temperature is 55 degrees or below. It was about 56 while I was there, apparently. So I just stripped all the covers […] off the second bed and hunkered down. The atrium was being renovated and it looks like they use various rooms on the second floor for administrative offices and workout rooms. Overall it wasn't bad. Old and not well maintained hotel. Not up to business standards. Musty smelly rooms, bar, restaurant. Minor renovation to lobby will not help this place. Probably fine for low budget family vacation with the kids, but not business ready. Staff is probably doing the best they can, but were pretty dour. A little noisy due to the design of a center atrium that all rooms face into, nice because you can go to the bar,restaurant without going outside but it does echo the noise a bit. "Not what I remember it to be."
I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and have always been very happy with my stays. This time was the first time that I ran into a lot of little thing that made my stay not as good as previous time. I had a nonsmoking room but the smell of smoke under the disinfected spray and room freshener. I call the front desk and they said they would upgrade […] me to another room. The room seems a little smaller than the first room but at lease it did not have that smoke smell to it so there was not much of an upgrade. The fold out bed had seen better days and had a few spring missing. Needless to say the bed was most uncomfortable. I call the following morning and requested repair of fold out bed or replacement of it. To my disbelief when we return after a day of sightseeing, we found that the fold out bed was unmade and unrepaired. The free breakfast seen to be a rushed event and could have been better organized as to how each of the stations were set up. Food was basic and most of it was somewhat cold when served. The hotel is nice with a great breakfast buffet. It is very loud because of the atrium. The weekends seem to be much louder than the weekdays. We had a 2nd floor room over a party room where there was a band playing until 10:45 pm. The items on our table vibrated and the room was loud. "Rocky start but a great finish"
Airport shuttle was irregularly timed - still got to the hotel but I had to wait at least 30 minutes. Check in was extremely slow (someone called off) but the front desk clerk was very friendly and comped my internet for 2 nights. It's been a few years since I had occasion to stay at this property, but used to look forward to staying here on the last night before an early AM departure out of SFO. This used to be a lovely property, sitting on the waterfront, and with a great little running trail right out the door. Sadly, this property is now tired, and in need of a major renovation […] to include lobby, carpet, etc. The living areas in the rooms, while updated, have furnishings that are too small for the scale of the space. "Embassy waterfront"
Compared to other first class embassy's its not! There is no free wifi, cell phone service does not exist. The room was 82 when I arrived, I tried setting the temperature before I left for the evening, came back and it was still 82. I was told the old way to get it cooler was to open the window. The hotel is pretty and the room was nice, but the heat had been turned on and the room was much too warm. We survived with a fan and cracking the patio door (it did not open the full way and there was no screen). I have stayed at this hotel 12 times and previously had terrific service. Last Sunday when I arrived, my room was hot. When I turned on the air conditioner it only blew hot air. When I called the front desk I learned that they had turned off the air conditioner for the season. I can understand saving energy---but they should warn guests before they […] register. "Poor service"
I am a frequent traveler who had a gauranteed/confirmed non-smoking king bed reservation and when I arrive I was given the choice of a smoking room that had been de-smoked(?) or a handcap room with shower that did not reach my shoulder. The manager blamed expedia for booking a smoking room but when I showed her the printed reservation from expedia was […] for a non-smoking room she still refused to make any other rooms available. "Great hotel but horrible heating and a/c problems"
great room, great room service and food in the hotel, nice breakfast and nice pool area, but overwhelmed with heat at night. called the manager and never got a return call. called the front desk in the middle of the night about the extreme heat and was told i could change rooms or wait for someone to come in the morning. i didn't want to change rooms […] while in pajamas at 3am so i stayed. in the morning, no one came, so i called again. finally an a/c tech came and said the entire hotel went to 72 degrees at night no matter what, and i could have a fan. this did not help. it turns out that another guest in another room had 64 degree a/c on and couldn't turn it off, so it seems this information was inaccurate. i will be there for a week again in september and won't be staying due to the uncomfortable sleep conditions. As far as airport hotels are concerned, the Embassy Suites BURLINGAME is the way to go. The service is excellent and the amenities are what a business traveler expects.
