Extended Stay America Seattle - Northgate

I enjoyed staying at Extended Stay America. I had to add an additional night on to my stay, and Brittany (at the hotel) provided me with information and help when doing that. She was very informative and accommodating. I would definitely stay there again.

As expected for Extended Stay. Room cleaned once/week. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast nothing to write home about. in-room phone was not working right. Location is not walking distance from restaurants.

The non smoking room smelled like smoke. Housekeeping did not properly stock the room. The front desk didn't answer the phone when I called to complain. The totals felt like sand paper. The continental breakfast was the worst I have ever seen.

Good for long term stay only! Bed is hard. Kitchenette was full of crumbs and the fridge was dirty. The heating system doesn't have a thermostat so, it is very difficult to adjust. I finally gave up and turned it off, put on extra clothes, socks, and a jacket and went to bed! Not a continental breakfast just small packaged sweet snacks oranges and apples. […] No staff at night (I didn't see any) so, I did not feel secure coming in at 11:00 PM! They checked me out after one night and I had a hard time convincing them I paid for 3 nights they acted like I was trying to pull a scam on them or something. I suddenly remembered I had the conf. # in my smart phone and the guest agent was embarrased. Do your self a favor and stay down the street at the Holiday Inn Express for a little extra per night! It is as advertised, designed for stays of a week or more. It has adequate facilities for meal preparation. A few more amenities would be helpful, like paper towels. Daily maid service is available for an extra charge so be prepared to make your own bed unless you stay for a week or more. For my purposes it was adequate. The person who helped us check in was wonderful, friendly and welcoming. He immediately changed rooms for us when we walked in and discovered the heater was broken. The next morning we found the windows had been open all night. Neither adult in our group was able to close it. When we asked that it be fixed she responded with, "Oh, some of the windows […] stick and they haven't replaced them yet." She did send someone later to close them. We found the next morning they had creeped open again! Above the kitchenette there was a fan constantly going. Quite LOUD! It did keep us from hearing any neighbors, and hopefully drowned out our kid noises. "Grab n Go" breakfast was just that. Coffee pots were empty by 8:00. Three kinds of granola bars that ran out about the same time. Hot water for tea, oatmeal or hot chocolate. A couple apples and oranges. When asking about the blueberry muffins..."Oh, we're all out. They don't come until next week." One person at desk in a.m. that was suppose to answer phones, help people check out and make sure the coffee was supplied and area stocked and clean. We requested a non smoking room. When you exit elevator you get a blast of cigarette odor. All the rooms on our wing appeard to be non smoking. Grocery store a block away. Bring your own breakfast if you want more than coffee. Earplugs for the fan and an extra blanket if your window creeps open in the night. Great place for a base when acting like tourists. Um it was nice but there were other hotel tenants who were letting their kids run wild through the halls at random hours to play instead of taking them outside. There's a convenient shopping center across the street but I would have preferred to have been a little closer to seattle. It's about a 45 minute bus ride to Seattle but if you don't purchase […] your ticket or orca card before arriving it leaves you a bit screwed but that's not the hotels fault its just the location is a bit difficult if you're not from Seattle. my favorite thing was that I was able to cook food and not forced to eat the fast food that was surrounding the hotel, I shopped at Albertsons and would come in to eat. I wished house keeping visited at least once during my stay, it felt more like my apartment that visiting but that's just my personal opinion. I didn't leave a huge mess so it would have been nice to know someone stopped by to bring in new towels etc. Read more

There was no one at the front desk at check in so after about 10 minutes of waiting I called the hotels phone number and got someone that way. At check out there was no one there either so just left the keys on the counter. Very clean and perfect for a stay that doesn't require a lot of extras. Great WiFi reception with free basic speed and upgrades to higher speed if desired. We were impressed by the shower pressure compared to other more expensive choices in the area.

The hotel itself is clean and fairly new. The area is an odd place for a hotel, across the street from big box type stores (the back side of them so defintely not at all pretty). We wanted something close to the Northgate area, which it was, but arrived in the night the area seemed a little unsafe. Our room was on the ground floor (they were sold out […] or I would have asked for another one), the windows opened onto the parking lot and were open, I could NOT get them closed so I had to ask the front desk person to come and close them. I was not going to stay there if they couldn't close them as I am a woman travelling with a child. Luckily she got them latched on one side each which was good enough. After that I felt fine about it. Wouldn't really call it a "breakfast" but they did have limited items (prepackaged muffins, granola bars, apples, oranges) to grab in the morning and coffee. Very upset with this reservation. The reservation was made in March for a nonsmoking room. They said all they had for us was a smoking room. I showed them proof that we had booked nonsmoking through you in March. She insisted all they had was smoking. She offered to check other hotels in the area, they were all either booked or a higher cost. She offered […] to credit us through you for $20 and said I should be sure you credited me back the refund. Please do that. She speculated that they prob gave our nonsmoking room to someone who wanted to stay longer than one night. That policy is unacceptable to me. I'm sure it is to you also. I have a call in to the regional manager but he is out of town til Monday. The hotel was also installing new countertops in some of the rooms, this was very noisy and blocked our hallway. Thus, our stay at this hotel was not favorable and we will not book there again. We are pleased with your service however. Hopefully you can do a follow up with this hotel concerning our treatment. We have used this extended stay hotel for three or four years now. Our daughter lives in Seattle and it a great place to stay while visiting. We can bring our dog also which is a plus. . It is in a very quiet location and very close to shopping and and dining. We can walk to stores, and some restaurants too. The grounds are kept very nice, and the rooms […] are clean enough and comfortable. I like the front desk staff, they are always helpful and very nice. we had a problem with getting online with our i pad, and the help line put my husband on hold way too long. The whole place had a bad smell, the bed was hard, bedspread ugly polyester, and it felt more like a halfway house than a motel. I can't imagine staying there more than one night. Certainly won't stay there again. Front desk closes completely at 9 PM, vending machines hard to find ... location is behind some stores... just not a very nice place.

This was a terrible place to stay. We found hair on the bathroom sink and on the sheets of the bed. I heated a cup of coffee on the beverage setting on the microwave and burned my lip -- I am used to hot coffee. The front desk was very unhelpful. They misled us with their directions, It makes me wonder how they made it to work. We asked for a bank address […] and they couldn't be bothered to look it up. Very dissatified.
