With about 40,000 students, the University of Washington is the area's lifeblood. The campus includes a world-class medical center, the Burke Museum, and Henry Art Gallery. UW's main square offers a clear view of Mount Rainier. West of UW, a Lenin statue watches over Fremont, which bills itself as “The Center of the Universe.” Fremont's low-rise shops and cafés resemble Berkeley and Old New York.

"Beautiful hotel"
Great location. Just a couple blocks from the freeway. Walking distance to drug and grocery stores. Short drive to the university or the space needle etc. Very nice lounge too with good happy hour deals. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"BEST bed ever!!!!!!!!!!!"
When I lived in Seattle, I was familiar with the meeting facilities here so when I came back to town on business I thought it was a good time to throw them more business. It is a quick trip to downtown without all the hustle and bustle. I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and got me checked in quickly (it was really late). The room was clean […] and had the most comfortable bed and pillows. In the morning I had a great breakfadt in the cafe. This hotel was an A+ experience Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent, but don't rely on the internet"
The Deca has always been clean and friendly and comfortable. They are responsive to needs that went unnoticed and they recently remodeled the rooms which was a nice plus. The only thing negative I have to say is: don't rely on their internet. It's free, but it's so slow you can barely do anything at all on them aside from email and patiently waiting […] for simple requests like checking the local weather. I tried to get work done twice during my stay and was unable to because my work involves frequent downloads of files and it was so slow as to just not be possible. I also tried to watch a Netflix movie a few times but that wasn't working either. I listened to internet-radio a few times to keep up on my home-town's local news -- and that worked but with multi-second pauses in the playback about every 15-30 seconds. The Deca really needs to do something about their internet, it's performance is late-90s quality -- which I would accept if staying at an out-of-the-way rural bed-and-breakfast but certainly not in such a high-tech metro area. "great place and great price"
I really liked the vibe at this hotel. Kind of W like. The rooms were spacious, well designed, the lobby and lounge bar was nice. All and all - a great place to stay and had some great places you would walk to.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel"
Glad I took a chance and booked this hotel - very clean, comfortable, and great staff. Nice lounge if you want to stay in and have a few drinks or dinner. Nice fireplace to relax by. Just wish the bed was a little more comfortable - other than that I give it an A+ rating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The staff was friendly, room size and amenities were very comfortable. Conveniently located. Everything was very clean. My trip was extended and I ended up staying here for 2 weeks and I was very comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Way overpriced - not justified."
The staff was great, the restaurant had good food at fabulous prices during two happy hour periods, but... lots of missing amenities, e.g., no lotion in the bathroom, no bath mat/rug (!) in the bathroom, just one bath towel (!) - which I used to dry my hair then jumped back in bed to dry off, no tea... Nothing was terrible, just not what I'd expect […] at the rate I paid. Really, I was quite disappointed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great pre-meeting stay"
Overall, I had a great experience. My room had a great view. Food in the restaurant was very good and very reasonably priced. There were aspects of the hotel that were a little worn and could use updating/spiffing up, but they did not negatively impact my stay. "Bring earplugs!"
The walls here are PAPER THIN and the hotel is used as a party pad by the local university students. Even with earplugs in, on a MONDAY night, I was woken up by loud noises.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"needs a micro wave.."
Very nice people and the rooms are large and roomy with comfortable beds. The front desk was very polite and helpful. I loved the location ..very easy to get to and get back to Seattle. 7 minutes from Fred Hutchins or Mercer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"convenient if you were there to see sights"
The staff was very helpful and friendly. the rooms were small but kept up nicely and the bed was comfortable. It is a older hotel but they have renovated it in an art deco way it's nice. It wasn't convenient to where my seminar was everyday but I knew that staying there everything else was booked.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would be great for leisure if not for parking"
Wonderfully central location, great atmosphere, made me wish I had more time to spend there. Down side was that there was a parking fee. Otherwise, felt safe and staff were very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Near UW- Works for me"
Location is the best if you are visiting UW. My room was great. Yes, the shapes are a bit funky (check the fire escape route thingie on the back of the door to see all the room shapes....) but mine had a nice bay window and an okay view. Wireless high speed internet worked fine. The restaurant downstairs serves all meals, but there is a contiguous coffee […] shop that I used for breakfast, and you are close to a plethora of other food choices. My only complaint is one that is becoming common to most of the hotels that I stay in: while compact fluorescent lights are "green" they are also dark: the room just didn't have enough light. With the cloudy Seattle weather, I just couldn't get enough light. Even with every light on it was just gloomy and dark in the room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great choice for university area"
I didn't realize how spread out the different areas of Seattle actually are (my first time there). So I was a little disappointed that I kept having to hop on the freeway to get places that seemed so close on a map. That's just poor planning on my part. The U district is nice though, and there's plenty of shopping, cafes, etc within a few blocks of […] the hotel. Staff was friendly, room was good for the price (pictures make it seem fancier than it really is, but it's definitely not run down or anything). Bottom line: if you want to be in this area, hotel deca is a great place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Deca Seattle - adjacent to UW Campus"
I've considered Hotel Deca my favorite Seattle hotel for 10 years. My last stay in early Dec., '11, was the best. I kind of stumbled onto a private party hosted by the Hotel and a startup coffee roaster, to promote the coffee brand. Not only was I welcomed, I was also given a pre-party gift of approx $30.00 of coffee beans and branded mugs, even when […] I initially asked if I could buy it. I was next day headed for a charity auction - this became my donation to the auction. Fabulous! Thank you Hotel Deca for ongoing class and exceeding expectations. I chose the hotel based on proximity to the University. It was close and convenient with a large number of dining possibilities. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff members I dealt with were very pleasant and helpful in meeting my needs.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel Deca in Seattle - the whole package"
First, the hotel is beautiful, especially if you like Deco or just excellent taste. There is a lounge with a delicious bar menu, and unexpected plus, as usually attached restaurants are convenient-only. Also, an attached coffee shop is a great place to hang out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great hotel great heathy food"
We where so surprised of the quality of this hotel, it is so cheap that we didn't have any expectation. The grass fed beef, the organic chiken at the restaurant was so amazing to find for us! The beds in the room beeing so comfy and the rooms so spacious for the price. We want to go back to Seatle for a longer stay next time (we only had a 2 days s […] tay). "Chic hotel right in the heart of the University District"
Rooms were smallish, but comfortable and clean. The hotel is in a vibrant section of Seattle. Just a few blocks off the 5 Fwy and not too far from downtown Seattle. Lots of small, exotic, inexpensive restaurants and shops in the area, catering primarily to the university students. Nice lobby area with a fireplace. Tully's Coffee and the District Lounge […] with live Jazz music some evenings. Easy and free parking. Overall a good place to stay. I'd have no hesitation recommending this hotel and will definitely return when visiting Seattle. 3-1/2 stars. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The only thing negative..."
Not a huge fan of shower curtains that don't curve out from the tub. Taking a shower and having a shower curtain rubbing up against you is not a good thing. But that's it! Other than that, its a fine hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Last minute option worked out well"
After forgetting to book a hotel for my trip, I found the Deca the day of my arrival. It has a really nice lobby, amazing staff and good accommodations. Near U of W, so decent food options. Easy shot to downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

My experience with the Hotel was a good one. The staff was great very personable and helpful. The room was very clean and nice. The location was a little sketchy at night or early in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice stay"
With hotels in Seattle extremely expensive in the summertime, this was a great find. It's not too far from the city center and of course is right near the University of WA. Gorgeous rooms. Great service. Not a huge amount to do or see or nice places to eat within walking distance is the only drawback.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for the price"
I was staying on business so the location was great! I liked that there were many places to eat within walking distance but they were targeted for the University crowd so not a lot a nice places. Convenient to grocery and coffee! It was clean but not luxurious, it met my needs for the week. I would come again on business but wouldn't choose this place […] for a vacation spot. "Paper thin walls not the highspeed internet i hoped for"
From my bed could hear every word spoken in the hallway and doors opening/closing. Also could hear the neighbors TV even though they didn't seem to have it very loud. Wifi for the hotel on the 7th floor was extremely spotty and ended up being unusable. They had an ethernet port, but there wasn't a cable. "Great Place for University Visits"
Very nice hotel, an oasis that's across from the UW Tower and two blocks from UW. It's definitely nicer to stay in this nice hotel than a typical chain. There's also parking right behind it, no worries. The employees were very eager to please, too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Deco hotel - Seattle"
I was asked if I wanted to upgrade without an extra charge. The room was very large with a great view of Seattle Center and downtown. The bathroom is quaint and a bit tiny but everything worked well. A great lobby with lots of room for conversations. The breakfast discount enticed me and food was unique and delicious. I will go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
