Downtown Seattle stretches along Puget Sound from historic Pioneer Square in the south to trendy Belltown in the north. In between, office towers, shopping gallerias, and brick condos line the leafy avenues. The convention center is here, as is Pike Place Market, where salmon fly. Don't miss the futuristic main library. Seattle's twin stadiums and the International District lie south of downtown.

We picked this hotel because of the location to downtown Seattle. The pictures looked very nice online and we thought the price was great for the area. Upon arrival we find out that you can only valet park and the cost after tax is $46/night, which was not advertised on hotels.com or on the hotels website. The room was the size of a shoe box with a […] fire place that wouldn't work, dust clogged vents, and a very uncomfortable bed. The hotel does not have a pool or hot tub which started to make the price of the room seem high for what you were getting. The only great thing about this hotel is they allow dogs of any size for free but there are several hotels in the area that have a small dog fee but actually offer some nice amenities for the price of the room. The hotel does have a nice restaurant menu that was pretty expensive, but who would want to pass up the food at Pikes Place Market since it is within walking distance? Not me! "Poor reception, subpar accommodations"
Arrived at three, neither of our two rooms where ready. Tried to go to restaurant to relax but it was closed. We were seated in the lounge and then kicked out for having children under 21, who were excited to fet something off the app menu. I returned to the front desk to see how long we should expect to continue waiting and was rudely told that their […] rooms were not promised until four o'clock so that was when I could expect them. No surprise, they were both magically ready at 3:59. The decor is a confused mess of camping meets modern, and worst of all the mattresses were uncomfortable and it was difficult to sleep. "Bad experience"
I was having a mommy's night off and decided to splurge for this awesome hotel. I received a small room that had a faint smell of cigarette smoke, which I thought would be no big deal - but later on I put on the fireplace (which didn't work and the front desk sent an "engineer" to fix) but the fireplace emitted such a noxious smell that I turned it […] off after 15 minutes, but my room reeked for the rest of the night. I slept with the window open and trains would pass every hour. At 3am, I called the front desk and switched rooms. GOT NO SLEEP. When I told the front desk how my stay went, the replied with "sorry" and how about we give you free parking (WHAT HOTEL CHARGES THEIR PAYING GUESTS TO PARK?) I thought the free parking gesture was so weak compared to the night I had. It just left me more annoyed. This place just seemed ungenerous. Generous hotels, that want me to walk out happy, are where I want to stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Dissapointment - Dirty, shabby room; bad service"
My husband and I decided to do an overnight downtown Seattle (we live in the area; but hired a babysitter to watch the kid for the night). Having stayed at the Edgewater a few years prior I remember loving the location and having a comfortable fun stay. Not so much on this one; we booked the room at a pretty decent rate. After spending time at enjoying […] a night out in the city we checked in around 11 PM. The girl at the front desk was efficient though not pleasant; but thats fine we just wanted to check in and get to our room. So walking in my jaw dropped at how shabby the place was. Fraying carpet, dirty walls, fireplace wouldn't kick on (yes we followed all of the directions even kicking the heat up to the highest setting to no avail); lamps that wouldn't stay on and then the bathroom which I didn't notice until the next morning when I went to take a shower. Burnt out lights in the makeup mirror and one ceiling light; again the bathroom rug was ripped and frayed and the shower curtain wasn't connected (clips were open and not all through the holes) and was dragging on the floor. Instead of spending a leisurely morning we just wanted out of their because it actually made me feel dirty. We were completely disgusted and ripped off. Upon check out we were asked about our stay; I told the front desk that we were dissapointed and you know what the response was. Well you should have come down last night and told us and we would have fixed it. Really you want me to come down at 11PM so you can "fix" the room for me? Why don't you make sure the rooms are actually clean and in shape for a guest prior to checking someone in and literally ripping them off. Absolutely disgusting, horrible stay with rude staff. (Though the valet guys were really nice and the lady in the coffee shop in the lobby was sweet). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rowdy Cruise ship staff stay here"
I will never stay here again. I was surrounded by loud talking partying people all night and then at 8:00 in the morning when these people finally went to bed the maid staff was in the hallway to make up rooms talking and slamming doors. Parking is an additional large fee above the cost of the room The decor is dated (who does the cabin look any more)? […] Seattle is not a city you can even get a cup of coffee before 6:00 a.m. and there is nowhere else for breakfast except the high priced hotel restaurant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not impressed at ALL. Stay someplace else."
The Edgewater Hotel was a huge disappointment! From start to finish our experience at the hotel was disappointing, I don't even know where to begin. Let me just say do yourself a favor and find a different hotel where the place is kept up and the employees are interested in customer service. The view is lovely but not worth poor service and shabby rooms […] (especially the ground floor where they put us the fist night). Put in for a room change upon arrival because our room butted up against a Taxi cab in the parking lot. Room was so dark and the family next to us was arguing. This was just not going to work. Paid for an upgrade just so they would move us. However when we reported to the front desk the next morning no notes had been made with our new room request. We checked our luggage and asked that it be moved to our room once it was assigned along with a courtesy call letting us know it was ready. At 4:30 got a call stating our room was ready. They asked me if I would like our bags brought up to the room. I said yes. When I returned to my room later that evening our luggage had not arrived. I requested it be brought up still one more time before we fetched it ourselves. In all honestly I would have been happy to pick up my luggage myself but I thought this was a 4 star hotel. I would not stay here again nor would I recommend this hotel to a friend. Numerous time the staff showed that they were not capable of simple tasks. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"not impressed"
first of the view we had was not good at all and at window there was a walk way that the employees had access to and we were not comfortable with that. when it came to check out time one employee just entered the room trying to rush us out of there so overall with the money i spent on that room was just a complete rip off! i would never stay at your […] hotel again! "airport pick up rip-off"
While my fight was delayed, then I emerged at baggage claim there was no one waiting with a name sign. Nor waiting outside. I had to call the hotel twice to track down the driver and find out where he would pick me up. This delayed my hotel check in even more. Then he charged me double the rate for the pick up and only came clean after I complained […] about the service at the front desk. I arrived so late the hotel restaurant was closed. (What kind of decent restaurant stops service at 9:30pm?) AND the Edgewater charges for Internet!!! Even hotels in the 3rd world provide free wifi these days. For the rates the Edgewater charges, this is shameless. I won't be staying there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"guests are an inconvenience to staff"
the staff are just awful, unfriendly and unhelpful, worst place we stayed during our trip. tried to leave our bags there early, told we had to check in first, that seemed okay but when we returned had to go thru whole process again and were told we hadn't checked in, even though they had our credot card details. decor dreary and looked more in keeping […] with a lodge in the snow not on waterfront. on morning of checkout noticed lots of town cars in driveway and when we asked for a taxi thet suggested town car, we again asked for taxi and after 30 mins finally had to use the town car to airport, don't believe taxi was ever called. when we first arrived went to bar for drink, when we walked in , staff member saw us said she would be back in a minute, 10 minutes later we walked out still not seeing bar staff again. service , what service!!! "Bad valet service. Poor staff, great location."
We have stayed here twice now and both times the valet service was very poor. We witnessed valets from our balcony/room swing doors of cars open and bounce the door off the adjacent car several times with such force and lack of care that it was very disappointing to witness. The valets were rude and behaved unprofessionally. The room was absolutely […] filthy, so much so I was sick from the amount of dust and dirt pilled up under and around the bed and in low traffic areas in the room. The location of the hotel is great with wonderful water or city views and just a short walk to Pike Place Market & the Space Needle. We were told the first time we stayed here that they had covered secure parking which was clearly not the case. We have a very expensive automobile and were not thrilled to find out the cars are parked in an open lot that is certainly not secured. Anyone can come and go through the parking lot and there was no visible security. We were mainly disappointed by staff who assured us that it was a covered secure lot when it clearly was not. Our second stay proved much better than the first but overall we certainly would not recommend this hotel if you would like to be treated with a reasonable degree of professionalism form it's staff. The rooms were filthy both times but the location is fabulous. The only location issue I could see someone having is that on the city side their is railway tracks and frequent trains. It can be a bit noisy for some. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
