Downtown Seattle stretches along Puget Sound from historic Pioneer Square in the south to trendy Belltown in the north. In between, office towers, shopping gallerias, and brick condos line the leafy avenues. The convention center is here, as is Pike Place Market, where salmon fly. Don't miss the futuristic main library. Seattle's twin stadiums and the International District lie south of downtown.
see all hotels in SeattleI was not happy that I had to constantly go and get my car reprogrammed as I could not enter my room. Or that I was not able to enter or leave the hotel parking garage. The coffee maker also did not work. I loved the location but not thrilled with the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff not friendly. Room key wouldn't activate parking gates in underground parking garage. Parking garage dirty and no parking for guests at 10:00 pm on Sat night. No cream for room coffee. Restaraunt torn up. Registration wouldn't accept Capital One Venture Card. Way overpriced for what we got. Never stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The staff were great, everyone was helpful and friendly, they shouldn't have put us on the floor with construction?? Guys working on our floor, 7 am using a hammer and drilling at 9am Guys working right out side the window, we couldn't leave the curtains open. "under construction, sports bar food only"
I stayed there because I attended a day long conference there. The sports bar at 930 pm for dinner was terribly disappointing. I would have liked to have known that the hotel's dining room, including room service, was closed for renovation. It made my one night stay a disappointing appearance. The bell captain was MIA when I asked to pick up my stored […] luggage, so the concierge had to step in to retrieve it. We drove to the hotel and were shocked that it was going to cost us $32 to park overnight as a hotel guest. When I asked them if that was accurate they said yes. I paid $110 for a room and over 30% more to park my car. Big rip offGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Was ok."
My room was to cold and it did not warm up even though I turned the heat right up. The wifi worked but not very well, it was slow or kept cutting out. They have a hardline plug in and it might work better but I have an IPad which anyone should know is unable to be plugged in. I was charged $30 for car parking which I was not aware that I would have […] to pay. Maybe I missed that on the web page. If I did maybe it needs to be displayed more clearly. "Extravagant Price for Mediocre Experience"
While the individual rooms were adequate, and the beds very comfortable, the overall demeanor and upkeep of the hotel was jousted by the outlandish prices for normally-included features. For instance, parking. The price per night for parking was 40 bucks in change. Also, there was no complimentary breakfast, and the meal offered was something ridiculous: […] almost 16 dollars a person. The rooms were well arranged, save for the bathroom. It was smaller than the unnecessarily large closet, and had an odd "foggy" glass door for privacy; yet, calling it private is generous. You could clearly see, with little imagination, the features of an individual through the window pane. Also, it had an LG HDTV in every room, which was a nice touch- but the picture quality was subpar to most Analog or Tube TV sets of yesteryear. It was close in proximity to any of the downtown features, but most of them closed at 8pm, rendering nightlife useless. This is not a detraction for the hotel, but really the city of Seattle itself. Another negative was the amount of homeless circling the hotel; every time you would leave the lobby to go out and explore, you would get hounded by multiple bums scavenging for a buck or two. Not trying to blame the unfortunate, but after six or seven times a night it began to irritate. It left the impression that the hotel was in a rather derelict neighborhood. The elevators, however, were lightning quick. You could get to the top floor in less than fifteen seconds. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Noise, noise, noise!"
The Red Lion Hotel on 5th Avenue looks fancy and is conveniently located in a nice part of downtown Seattle. However, this is all this place has going for it. We had to cut our trip short because we could not sleep due to the constant noise. One would think that a rather pricy hotel such as this would spring for soundproofing, but, alas, this is not […] the case. We could hear doors slamming, water running, people opening drapes, and specific details of other patrons' conversations. We have stayed in other hotels that offered a decent night's sleep, as well as more amenities, that were less costly and just as nice. If you want to visit the downtown area and are planning on staying up all night, go ahead and choose this place. Otherwise, look elsewhere. There are many other options, and you will sleep well knowing you made the right decision. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The air conditioner would keep going to high temperatures. I had maintance come up 3 different time and it still would not stay cool. I was very uncomfortable at night. The room was not cleaned well as the trash was not taken out and the first night their was left over soaps for the last customer. The laundry bag had what looked like blood on it. "Great location but overpriced for the service."
When we went to check in our room wasn't ready and we were told to come back at 3:00 which is not unusual so that didn't bother us. They stored our luggage and we went to get some lunch. When we returned, our room was ready. It was was clean and had a beautiful view of the water and Pike's Market. The first problem we noted was the toilet wouldn't flush […] half the time which we fixed on our own. The second problem was when I called to order a bottle of wine to be delived from room service I was told that there was a function going on and there was no room service available. I asked if there was someplace in the hotel where I could purchase a bottle of wine and come get it myself and was told "No" but the gentlemen I talked to was sure there must me someplace close by I could go buy one. I asked if they would supply the cork screw and glasses if I did and again was told; "Sorry, no". Really? Another problem was the remote for the TV only worked sporadically. I assume because of low batteries. Also, the TV reception was quite poor. I usually don't complain but we spent quite a bit of money for 4 nights in this room. Although the location is goo being close to Pike's Market and the waterfront I would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

My wife, daughter and I were quite disappointed in this hotel. While it is convenient, there are many other hotels in the area to choose from. "Our bags were unzipped/searched while stored!"
The worst thing that happened was our suitcases were unzipped and searched after check-out, while they were supposed to be locked for safekeeping by the Red Lion Hotel. When we mentioned it to the attendant, he just shrugged and didn't say a word! Luckiily, we had kept all of our valuables in our handbags for the afternoon, so it appears as though no […] personal articles were stolen. The thieve(s) were so careless they didn't bother to zip the bags back up. This was so unsettling that despite the great location, we will never stay or recommend this hotel again. Back to the beginning, we arrived late in the evening, tired and hungry. Red Lion front desk staff provided us the names and locations of two nearby restaurants, both of which told us there kitchens were closed. Another hotel in the area referred us to an italian restaurant that delivered. We then noticed that our refrigerator wasn't working. Red Lion front desk offered to move us, which worked. During our stay of three nights, housekeeping didn't show up on day two, which we decided was ok since it saved us the daily housekeeping tip, although, it meant that for two of the three mornings in our room we didn't have decaf coffee. The last day we had water problems, air in the lines and the toilet not filling up, etc. Other than the location, the Garden Terrace staff was the best thing about this hotel! Also one of the elevators smelled like throw-up so we quickly learned to avoid it! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"I'm not staying here again!"
Aesthetically, this hotel was nice. The location was great - it was very easy walking to most of the major Seattle attractions. The biggest disappointment came in the staff who's primary role is customer service. The concierge was quite rude upon our check-out. The bell captains were very disorganized as well. We needed luggage held for a couple of […] hours upon check out. That process took 25 minutes to complete. In the early morning of check out, I approached the main desk and asked of the location of a particular coffee shop. The person behind the desk did not know of the coffee shop (acceptable) but when I provided her with several addresses, she did not know where they were. The most she could muster was the name of one of the streets being a 1/2 block away. She didn't offer any further assistance. The car service that the hotel offered was a joke. The driver took us to the wrong restaurant and when I pointed out it wasn't the right location - I had to provide him with the address 3 times. Upon using his GPS to get us there - he still took us to the wrong location only to have my 8 year old point out the restaurant another 1/2 block away. The most helpful and pleasant people at the hotel were our server (Ben) in the lower level restaurant and the man sweeping the sidewalk in the entry of the hotel (seriously - he was great and very friendly!! He should have been the concierge! If you stay here - go with very low expectations! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I was charged a $50 late check out, though I was never told that one would be charged if I checked out after noon. I can't check out early when my flight isn't until 6pm. "Small room, high price, no hot water, gang of suck"
Yea - i travel a LOT. It takes a lot for me to write a review at all. The hotel either needs to be fabulous, or it had to suck royally. This hotel fits into the latter category. 1. Check-in Experience: No early check in that day, but when i returned at 3 there was a huge line. That was fine too - until they couldn't find me a room. It took them another […] hour with me standing at the front counter - meanwhile others are checking in without problem? I was paying FULL RATE. 2. Small room - like NYC small. And i paid FULL RATE. I understand some rooms are not like others - but this room was obviously the broom closet room. 3. No coffee maker in the room. Who does THAT?? 4. No hot water last morning before checkout. No hot water - and i mean NON - i mean ICE COLD water. I don't complain on business trips - i don't believe in being a squeaky wheel. But this place sucked. I've stayed at Red Lyon before in Anaheim and enjoyed it very much - this place however will never get my business again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pass"
Seattle is chilly this time of the year and this hotel has only luke warm or freezing cold water and the pressure is not great. It appears this is done for conservation points for the hotel. Well, that's admirable but they should let you know these things before you book it. Additionally, the staff listened to my polite requests to fix a broken telephone […] in the room, or leave two extra towels, or tell me if they could make the water warmerin the shower, but did nothing about it unless I made repeated requests over several days. They also charged me for things I didn't use at the hotel, although they corrected the bill when I returned for that purpose. Finally, they charge $39 a day for onsite parking, so don't forget that expense. Shows $32/day but adds $7 in tax. I will find another hotel on my next trip. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Hotel has no DVD player, tv sucks..I brought a movie to watch there so it was really disappointing. Costumer service not informative of anything if you don't request or ask anything, they don't even say hello. I gave my reservation paper the girl at the desk did not even said welcome or hello. "Great Location, That's it"
The rooms where a nice size. The bed was super comfortable, but the had two very thin sheets on the bed, no big deal that's what heat is for, if it worked. Turned it up to the highest temp, complained three times about it. Had to ask housekeeping for three extra blankets. It's not a good site when you see your dog shaking because he so cold, never offered […] to move me. Front desk has an attitude problem. It was 4:30pm when I returned to my room and still was not cleaned so I had to wait in lobby until they cleaned it. Room service was nice and friendly and the food was very good. The TV got bad reception, complained on first night nothing ever done. Location is perfect if you like to shop and don't have a car. It's pricey to park your car there. Which is normal for Downtown. "The Red Lion on 5th in Seattle"
We stayed at the Red Lion for three night prior to our trip to Alaska. When checking in there were no bellmen available and we had many bags. I had booked online. The desk clerk advised us that since we were checking in late...10pm that they only hade deluxe rooms left. I said GREAT. She then handed me a document to sign. Thought it was just your standard […] hotel agreement. Upon check out I found that I had been charged 20 dollars per night more fore the deluxe room! THEN. As we were staying there again at the end of our Alaska trip, I knew we would get there early and I asked for early check in. Got there at 9am. I knew that might be too early so I asked how soon we could get in. They told us 11 to 12. I gave them my cell phone. 2pm w stopped back at the Hotel. No room no call. 3pm no call. 4pm no call. I would not recommend this hotel. It was disorganized and impersonal. For example, we needed an early morning wake up call and car service to catch our return flight. They mixed up the car service with the wake up call. So the car arrived when the wake up call should have been and we almost missed our flight. The hotel's worst feature was its food.
