Members of old Hollywood once jockeyed for seclusion in Del Mar. Now, real jockeys are the main attraction at this former Tinseltown getaway. Every summer, the Del Mar Racetrack comes to life with horse races. The racing season begins with the end of the San Diego County Fair in July. Del Mar is part of the North Country, the suburban area considered to be the outer edge of metropolitan San Diego.

Very nice and quiet during Memorial Day weekend. About a mile to the center of Del Mar, but the hotel has a shuttle service that will take you there and bring you back. If you are going to the races or the fair this is the place to be!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

we stayed for six days and it was a very nice hotel, very clean, and extremely comfortable beds...only thing I don't like is this idea that hotels especially in California need to make more money so they charge to park in their parking lot - I think this is ridiculous!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
