Very pleasant stay & satisfied with room, but pillows were flat & uncomfortable. Really enjoyed fireplace in room & very cozy. Loved the fact you had a restaurant!

Went for a romantic getaway, we arrived exhausted found our room only to have the door open thought because of the cleaning lady. The room looked clean the linens have been used and abused horrible quality. Then when we would leave our room we ALWAYS had a problem with our door not closing it appeared closed and all you had to do was pop it open with […] your hip. We felt as though we had no valuables in our room so we slammed it shut and left. I would never recommend this place looks nice on the outside but a disaster inside. Read more

Nothing is very wrong with the place, but there are too many little things for the place to cost as much as it does. it is too old, uncomfortable bed, no safe in the room, no formal place to store luggage, terrible food in the restaurant, ugly looking rooms, and many other small things. On the bring side, the hotel is well located in the village.

Thank you for everything! We were in Big Bear from Los Angeles for a weekend of skiing and just to get out of the city. It was great. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable. Our room was affordable and large, it had a fireplace and large bed and a great rustic lodge feel to it. The resort is also walking distance to Big Bear Village with tons of bars, […] restaurants and shopping. You can even walk down to the lake. I was pleasantly surprised, I thought maybe the photos were possibly just making the Hotel look better than it was...but it was as nice as I had expected from the information that I had gathered online. My only complaint is that I wish the outdoor hot tub was set a few degrees warmer than it was...this was a big selling point for me and although it […] was somewhat warm on that mid 20 degree night, I really wished the hot tub was more on the 105-108 degrees side, it hovered around I'm guessing 99-100 degrees. If I were coming to Big Bear again I would not choose to stay at Northwoods again. It was decent enough but the room was uncomfortable and the service from the staff wasn't great either. The bed was very hard to the point of keeping me up at night. The furniture, though charming in the chunky log style, was not comfortable at all. The TV cabinet was […] facing the opposite wall and was situated in a way that you couldn't see it unless you sat in one of the uncomfortable log chairs right in front of it. Both nights I called the front desk with requests. The first night it was for an extra blanket. Two hours after the call my husband went to the front desk to try to get the blanket but they didn't give it to him and said they would be up with it soon. About 45 minutes after that they finally showed up. The second night I called to request two extra pillows and they never showed up. There are any number of places to stay in Big Bear and I would recommend looking somewhere other than Northwoods. Read more

Based on lies from both reservations to lodge. My husband and I went on 10/19/12 for a get reconnected with one another. when we checked in at the front desk host was not very friendly at all. The remainder of are stay was very stressful. We had no heat so I had to keep calling maintance and found out that most of the floor we were on had the same problem. […] if you. wanted the air during the day you would have to call maintance to turn it on manually then at night repeat the same for heat. Housekeeping was just as bad. when we called that evening to have heat back on we couldn't get into are room . The keys didn't work. It was constantly one thing after another. We were offered a extra night to try and reconfide for all the problems that we had to go through, but the morning went to office to checkout I was charged full price for the room that they offered us. we will never stay there again or recommend this resort. For the price, great deal. Nice pool, could have been cleaner. Rooms were nice and big, but the pillows were like flat rocks. Walking distance to excelent resturants. Overall would go again. Just bring lots of money for the town!

The 4th floor is to be avoided at this hotel as it is in the part where the roof comes down and the rooms are small with a small window. It lacked air circulation only with use of air conditioner. For the money it was not a great value. Otherwise the experience is akin to a nicer motel, only much bigger. We did not eat in the restaurant "Stilwells" […] so we can't comment on the hotel restaurant. There was nothing horrible about our stay, but there were a number of minor disappointments that made this hotel stay less than we were hoping for. For example: the hotel was mostly empty but we were still given a room overlooking housekeeping headquarters, the hotel no longer offers in-room movie service, the pool & hot tub were dirty (a nylon in the […] hot tub the whole time), the Wireless Internet is free... But you have to reconnect with the log in & password everytime your device sleeps, & our air conditioning was down from about noon-midnight one day. Almost every time we go to Big Bear we stay here. Love the location, the pool/jacuzzi and the fact that the rooms are comfy and spacious. Recommended for anyone who envy ones playing outdoors then relaxing in comfort. Tip: if your traveling with mtn bikes, ask for a 1st floor room. Otherwise it's a pain to get them up the stairs.

The hotel sits right next to the village, so it has easy access, but don't expect a lake view. The rooms are fairly plain, but surprisingly large, and ours came with a fridge. My only complaint is that the walls were thin, and we woke up a few times to the sounds of our neighbors (who were talking loudly, but nonetheless).

Overall great experience. Theresa at the front desk was really sweet, funny and accommodating. The room was clean and meet our needs. The notes about thin walls are true but it wasn't too bad. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs.

Wonderful place to stay in the heart of the Villiage, close to the slopes, shopping and dining. Rustic theme furnishings, restaurant and bar onsite. Disabled accommodations with roll-in shower on request. We will defiantly return.

The Northwoods Resort in Big Bear Lake was all that we had hoped. From the cheerful greeting when we arrived, through the bright cheery, well appointed room, to the excellent restaurant and bar, it exceeded our expectations in every way. Although the hotel is conveniently located to the Village area, it is pretty run down and in need of some refurbishing. The bed was very hard and the room smelled musty. The walls were cracked and the carpet was very worn.

The Hotel overall is good, but does need some updating. The first day I opened the window for fresh air. When I tried to lock the window, the latch was broken. I called the front desk and the lady said she would send someone to fix it. A half hour later, I called again and a man answered. When I told him that no one had come up and I wanted to go out […] to have dinner, he gave some attitude and said he would send someone to look at it. I indicated I wanted to leave, but I couldn' as long as their was no lock. I had to ask him how much longer it would take. He sarcastically said maybe 10 or 15 minutes. The repairman was excellent. We had a good stay but were extremely disappointed by the fact that there was no functioning fitness center. We booked this hotel specifically because of this amenity and were sorely disappointed with the sad state of the machines. All machines were inoperable and had definitely seen better days.

Our stay at the Northwoods Resort was very pleasant. It is located approximately 1 block from the Village(cute shops and great restaurants and theaters) 2 blocks from the Big Bear lake and Marina and beautiful scenery! The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were very nice and we really enjoyed the luxurious log cabin theme!
