The hotel is quite nice - great location, good condition and decor, very friendly staff. Everything was great except that the bed was so hard that both my boyfriend and I had trouble sleeping. The pillows were also quite soft and not good for us side sleepers. There were many things about this hotel we really liked. Location, amenities, pleasant staff, breakfast. However, we did have a problem that never really got resolved. The room next door to us was really loud at 2am, we called the front desk and there was no answer. We went to the front dest and complained twice, but the music continued. This hotel was amazing! I stayed here with my boyfriend and we absolutely LOVED it. I would recommend staying during the week as opposed to the weekend if you because there's a slight price difference. "Great Location"
Overall, this is a great hotel - the staff was very helpful and friendly! Jeri at the front desk gave us some wonderful "off the beaten path" restaurant suggestions that we enjoyed very much. The decor is modern and was very clean. We stayed in a Studio which included a full kitchen but we didn't really need it because we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast […] each morning. The only reason I did not rate the hotel a 5 was because we had to pay for parking and I didn't know we would have to do that. There is a large municipal lot right across from the hotel where you park, and it costs $12-$15 a day. Really, it's not that big of a deal, but it would have been helpful to know. My husband & I wanted to see Portsmouth and enjoy all of the quaint shops and such by staying right in downtown. This hotel is on the edge, but it was very reasonable walking distance to everything (& honestly, I'm not a walker). The hotel was clean, our room was wonderful, the breakfast was very good, and the staff was friendly. Our only complaint […] was that we couldn't use the pool and that was one of the things we were looking forward to. The hotel did make arrangements for guests to use the Hilton's pool across the street, but it was a cold, WINDY day and crossing the street in my swimwear (and then back soaking wet) was not appealing. Seemingly, the pool problem couldn't be helped as a child had had an unexpected accident and the pool needed to be cleaned...thoroughly. There were no comps offered since the hotel had come up with the "back-up plan" of using Hilton's pool. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay and we would probably consider staying there again sometime. Great location,my husband and I went for an overnight for our anniversary,just wanted 24hrs. away together. not to far from Boston. We went for the restaurants in the area many which are closed on Sunday so make sure you check first. Rudy's has a great jazz band for brunch. "Great location, clean and comfortable"
Everything is exactly as you'd want from a Residence Inn. Cute decor, nicely equipt. My only concern would be if you want privacy in the bathroom while your friend/patron etc. Is in bed forget about it, the bathroom is echoey and the door about 8-10 feet from the head of a king sized bed. So, I'm glad that I wasn't in a newish relationship, or sharing […] a room with someone I'm not comfortably intimate with. Otherwise, really worth the money my boyfriend spent...and he thought so too :) He LOVED the couch. It was cute and comfortable and he did a bunch of emailing there from his iPhone very happily. Love the Residence Inn, location was great, within walking distance to everything. Room was huge with a full kitchen, sitting area and king size bed. The flat screen swiveled so it could be easily viewed from the bed or the kitchen/sitting area. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. No concierge but the front desk did an excellent of informing us […] of what to do and had great restaurant suggestions. Only complaint was the bacon for breakfast the first day we were there was awful. So bad we almost when somewhere else the next day for breakfast.
