"Great hotel"
The only complaint i have is that the heating unit in our room made a ton of noise when it kicked on. The Valet Parking fee was a little much ($15 a night) but it is what it is. If you want a downtown hotel location you have to pay one way or another. I would def. go back though. This hotel's best asset is its proximity to downtown amenities - shopping, restaurants, etc. We stayed in a deluxe double which offered city views on two sides. Rooms are pretty quiet except for the very loud in-room HVAC. Vallet parking is always readily available, despite its $15 per day price tag. We stayed just for one night so we didn't really get to take advantage of many of the amenities, but the hotel was very clean, modern, and staff was friendly and helpful. It was a fine stay, I would stay again. There was hair in the shower when we arrived, so it was not ours and I was a little grossed out about that, but otherwise it was clean. Still feeling a little salty at being told I had to valet park the car at $15 a day, since that wasn't advertised. However, it turns out we didn't need the car for our two day stay, since we could walk a few blocks to everything worth seeing in Portsmouth, which is a rockin' town, even on a Sunday and Monday. This is a very nice hotel in a great location, but very expensive - and they charge for parking. The valet service is free, but you have to tip whenever you want your car and it is inconvenient not to be able to get to your car yourself. I can't say that I shopped around in the area for deals, but I was very happy with the price I paid for my 2 night St. Patrick's Day weekend there. The staff were all incredibly helpful and polite, the facilities were well maintained and clean. My only complaint, more of a comment than a complaint, would be that I was told upon my arrival that all parking […] was by valet only, which added $15 per night per vehicle to my stay. We stayed for business at this hotel. Portsmouth is very fun city, lots of great restaurants and shops. Close to everything. We walked everywhere we needed to go, including the post office. Nice clean rooms, and ammenities such as fitness room, pool, jacuzzi, and restaurant. The staff are gratious and very accommodating, and loaned me unusual items such as a tape measure and an adapter for my phone. The only recommendations […] I would make would be to add smaller handweights in the fitness room (3lb. and 12 lb. for women who need smaller increments to use) and more frequent or thourough cleanning of the jacuzzi. "Perfect Except for Valet Service"
We love this hotel. We prefer it to the nearby Sheraton. The only drawback is the valet service: a bit shoddy on all 3 visits. The valet guys/gals sometimes are nowhere in sight. Late night, they are hard to find, and they block the driveway with parked cars, so you can't even safely drive up to the hotel entrance. We waited over 15 minutes for the […] valet guy at midnight during our most recent visit (and that was midnight on a Friday night, no less). The front desk clerk was not the least bit concerned.
