"LOVE the salt pool and whirlpool"
Everything was clean and updated. The fitness room was fantastic. I loved that the pool and hot tub were saline- so many hotels over-do the chemicals in their pools and make them unbearable to swim in! Hotel was great. Staff very friendly. The lobby was redone and has the bar and food service there. Only criticism is its not really convenient or safe to walk to Portsmouth because of the road and lack of sidewalks until you pass under 95. Definitely not a night time walk. "We enjoyed our stay"
We liked the remodled lobby with nice fire place and up-to-date, spacious dining area. We had breakfast there the first morning and it was very good. Also, a light supper the next night. They were obviously not expecting many customers, as there was only one wait person at any time. Was slightly disappointed with the pressed turkey in my sandwich. We selected the Courtyard by Marriott in Portsmouth for it's location, which was convenient to both a wedding in Dover and shopping in Portsmouth. We enjoyed 2 nights in Avery nice and spacious room. The service was great. The bistro bar in the hotel was very cozy the food was very good and fresh to my surprise well done to all at this hotel didn't try the pool or whirlpool but it seems really nice and clean as with the entire hotel. "Clean hotel, but needs improvements!"
The woman who checked us in (and, unfortunately, out, too) as RUDE, did not even look at us, or acknowledge us and acted as if we were disturbing her. Appalling! And our housekeeper, Barbara, even with not having to change sheets or towels, could not find the energy to replace our toiletries or wash the drinking glasses. We did not leave her a tip -- […] she needs to be trained to do her job properly. Overall, we we really disappointed and would not be likely to stay there again. The room air unit was very loud, children ran up and down the halls after 10pm, and, as at most hotels these days, breakfast was not included. "Nice stay"
No disappointments. Either my GPS took me on a crazy route or the hotel was a little difficult to get at, but once there, had a very enjoyable stay. Room was clean, no smell of smoke or mildew (both of which we are sensitive to). Had a nice breakfast in the restaurant. All was good. "Pleasant Stopover"
My family stopped here on our way home from Acadia. It is extremely easy to get to from I-95. Staff was excellent and very helpful, with a terrific dinner recommendation and coupons. Beautiful, clean place, with a nice pool with a bit too much chlorine. Room was very attractive but a bit small for my family of 3. Also, the A/C unit was noisy. Amazing […] breakfast buffet, but we were charged a fee for my daughter, even though we had booked this with the "Breakfast included" feature on Hotels.com. All in all, a mix, but more positive than negative. Portsmouth is a really fun and interesting city to explore. In my 50 years, I had never stopped here before, but we all loved the city. I really enjoyed my stay. The room was spotless & the beds were very comfortable. I would say the hotel restaurant was ok, but nothing great. My friend had to send her steak back since it was over done, but the chef came out to appologize for the inconvenience which was nice of him....we did finally get a steak that was done to perfection. "A disappointment"
We arrived at the hotel around 4 p.m., one hour after the posted check-in time. The room was not ready and the staff were not apologetic about it. When I asked if the delay had anything to do with the "fire and water damage" truck that was in the parking lot, a woman who seemed to be a manager said "No, it has to do with my inability to fold sheets. […] I take full responsibility for not having the sheets to the room cleaners on time". Again, there was no apology. My husband and I didn't care who was responsible, we just wanted to get into our room but were told that it would be at least another 30 minutes. I used the ladies room near the lobby - no soap. My husband used the men's room - no paper towels. The folks at the front desk offered to call us to let us know when the room was ready so we headed to downtown Portsmouth. Not surprisingly, we never received that phone call. We eventually made it to our room which smelled rather damp (but did have clean, folded sheets on the bed - I guess they finally got that skill down). Overall, a frustrating and disappointing stay. "Hotel next to 495, near downtown Portsmouth"
An attractive, quiet, modern hotel with a fireplace and attractive breakfast room greeted us when we checked in. We booked via Hotels.com and got an excellent rate at the last minute, and our free breakfast was very much more than continental. Our room had a desk and a couch, and we enjoyed the view out the window of the beautiful trees surrounding […] the hotel. We really needed a get-away from our jobs, and it was restful and pleasant to stay at the Marriott and eat dinner and brunch at an Italian-vegetarian restaurant Radoci in downtown Portsmouth. We ended up checking in extremely late and the front desk person was there and pleasant when checking us in. I was under the understanding that breakfast was included when I booked the hotel, I actually payed extra through expedia to have the breakfast included. "our 50th anniversary get away"
We had booked with Hotels .com in early july 6, and we eneded up in a Handicapped room on the 1st floor near the trash compactor, which made un necessary noise late in the evening. At 1st we had asked for another room with no success. left a msg with the front desk for the manager, and the mgr was not in house at the time.
