Hampton Inn Portsmouth is definitely a hotel that I would stay in again! We had a perfect romantic get away for 2 nights there. First, I was surprised to find that our room had a 2 person Jet tub. Big plus! The manager's reception was great as well! The pool and hot tub are small, but attractive. The pool room has a cute beach theme. This is a family […] friendly hotel, so there will be babies with diapers and toddlers with water wings in the hot tub. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We took advantage of the shuttle, and went out for dinner and drinks down town. During the day, we went shopping, and to beaches in Wells and Ogunquit, which are about a 20 minute drive from the hotel, and very easy to get to. On our last night there, we bought steak and peppers, and grilled them in the patio area of the hotel, and had a candle lit dinner outdoors. My boyfriend and I have stayed at this hotel twice now, each time was wonderful. For the price, you absolutely can't beat it! The pool area is great, with a unique wall mural of the Portsmouth coast line, a nice hot tub, and good sized pool. We've had the whole pool area to ourselves each time! Each evening during weeknights there is a "manager's meeting" where they serve free beer and wine, as well as various snack. It's such a nice way to meet and greet the other people staying, and chat with the friendly staff who are a wealth of knowledge about where to eat and visit in town. My boyfriend and I took advantage of the free shuttle service provided to go out to dinner the night we stayed, and we didn't have to fool around with finding a parking spot downtown! So nice! Spent two nights there. Very happy. Remodeling the whole hotel, very nice. Nice clean quiet rooms. Nice Pool and hottub. Lobby was nice. The free breakfast was very good with many choices. Hotel is close to everything, five min to downtown Portsmouth. Five min to the kittery shopping outlets. There is a huge mall a half mile away. Lots of stores around. My stay in the hotel was great. It was a little bit confusing to find (not all the streets were marked properly, and google maps is wierd) but that is not the hotel's fault. The check-in people were super nice, and did everything they could to give me the hotel room I wanted. The bed was huge, the tub was huge, and the pool and hot tub were perfect. […] It was quiet. My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for a one night trip to Portsmouth to check out the Red Hook Brewery, and other sights in the area. After being assigned to a smoking room when we explicitly requested a non-smoking room, I had to head back to the front desk to get reassigned. The only non-smoking room available was a handicapped accessible room. […] The room itself was dated and generally run down. The bedspread looked like it had been washed about 1,000 times and all of the filling had collected in pockets that created haphazard lumps surrounded by large valleys with no stuffing left. After showering I left the bathroom to my boyfriend and planned to dry my hair next to the bed. No such luck. There was only one accessible outlet in the entire room, under the desk and away from any possible reach of the mirror. Though there were no major incidents once we were reassigned to the non-smoking room, I was generally unimpressed with the condition of the hotel, and the room itself, given the price. The location is entirely inconvenient, especially if you want to go out for drinks and leave the car behind. You can't walk anywhere, besides the shopping center next door. The hotel does provide a shuttle until 10 PM at night, but the driver is often unresponsive to the front desk staff, so you may spend a while waiting to leave. Read more
