The Oregon Zoo, the swank Pearl District, and the inviting Pioneer Courthouse Square are other noteworthy attractions.

"ehh..."
The hotel is in an old building so the rooms were small but done up very nice. I had a king deluxe. Service was good. Breakfast in bed didn't happen because nobody picked up our door hanger. Ordered fruit in the a.m. which was mediocre. For $20 they should serve something nicer than a handful of cantoloupe and strawberries. The upstairs restaurant is […] nice, really popular. Don't go there hungry. It's tapas, so most everything is sold singularly. $4 for a single skewers?! Why would you do that? Seriously, who is seriously satisfied with ONE skewers? Overall, nice location, nice room. Will return but with a hefty picnic basket! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Modern, centrally located, fast and convenient"
Modern, centrally located, fast and convenient service. But no spa, no sauna, no pool, no hot tub/jacuzzi. it's just a place to sleep eat and drinkGenuine Expedia guest review
"WHAT A BED"
I was taken back by the fact that there was no top sheet or blanket on the bed; Just the bottom sheet and the duvet. (We found out later they will provide a top sheet if it is requested.) To top it off it was one of the most uncomfortable beds I have slept in in a long time. It was an inter-spring that is well past it's replacement time. Woke up every […] time I turned over due to the creaking springs. Our room keys were deactived and had to be reissued the for the second night even though our initial reservation was for 2 nights (We weren't the only ones). We received slippers the second night but had to chase down someone for clean glasses. Our used ones were taken but not replaced. No robes. I was very impressed when walking into the hotel and initially entering the room. It went down hill from there. Way too many $$ for what we got. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Posh"
The Nines is a very posh hotel, clean and the rooms are great. I enjoyed have a room facing the inside courtyard, much less noisy than the streets. The restaurant Departures is great but very expensive for the amount of food you get. I would suggest a drink and some small bites (sushi perhaps) rather than dinner. Just my two cents!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Centrally located near rail lines and top sights"
On the whole our stay at The Nines was great. The location is awesome. It is right at the intersection of a number of MAX rail lines, next to Pioneer Square & Pioneer Place, and is walking distance from pretty much all the destinations and sights in the Downtown area (Pearl District, Cultural District, etc.) For some people, the bar scene might be a […] little too exciting with so many people going up and down the elevators late at night and rowdy and possibly drunk crowds awaiting you at the entrance when you come back to the hotel. But none of the commotion made it onto our floor so it didn't bother us. The one weird thing about our room was that it was on the inside of the building, with windows overlooking the lobby bar and Urban Farmer restaurant. This wasn't necessarily a problem, but no natural light comes into the room and it felt like 4AM even when it was 8AM. But that is only a minor complaint in what was an otherwise great stay at a stylish hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't bring a car"
The hotel was great, very nice rooms, great location. I think the staff can be friendlier - espeically with the number of people working. We stayed at 2 hotels in Portland, and the other had much friendlier staff. The only complaint - $39 for one day of valet parking. The valet expense was more than the daily fee for renting the car. Most hotels in […] the area have expensive valet parking, but this seems ridiculous. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice stay"
The hotel was very nice and overall clean. The downpoints...a mysterious stain on the chaise lounge??? (Gross!), the radio wouldn't work, and the hotel parking was crazy expensive. Otherwise it was a nice stay. The bed was comfy and the pillows were heavenly!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great boutique hotel in the center of downtown."
Hotel staff were attentive and helpful. Carpet outside elevators on our floor needed cleaning. The phone did not work in our room so we had to use our own phone to call for our car. The parking rate of $39 seemed excessive, but overall the hotel was very nice. The service at Urban Farmer was horrible, but the food was great. Two pieces of dry toast […] was $4 so a bit overpriced for the quality, but overall it was okay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fun & Funky Hotel"
Hotel is fun and funky - decor is definitely different - but enjoyable. Our room was nice and unbelievably quiet. All in all it was a nice stay. My only complaint was I went to check in at 3:15 and our room wasn't ready - since I needed to get to the room and then do some errands this was most inconvenient. While the girl at the front desk was polite […] and apologetic she didn't seem to get that if check in is at 3, then it should be at 3....anyway I would stay again, but be prepared for a bit more pricey experience. The bell staff was the best. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful Room"
I loved the decor. The room was cozy, but fine for one person. The restaurant was very pricey, though the steak was delicious. Serivce was a bit slow, I overheard the bartenders talking about how my meal was taking so long. Restaurant is "farm to table", which might explain the dirty lettuce in my salad. I could have complained but decided not too. […] Despite that, I really liked the hotel overall, the location is very central to all the good shopping etc... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fancy + great location"
The Nines is GORGEOUS, but you pay for it. Rooms are lovely and service is fast & friendly Valet parking is convenient, but expensive and it takes them a long time to get your car. "Great looking property needs a hospitality update"
The Nines is a great urban botique hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. Check in was a little confusing as the entry was filled with people coming and going and you are greeted entirely by vallet staff. No one told us that the front desk is on the 8th floor, I had to ask. Check in was painless and quick but they offered no verbal tour of the facility […] or ammenities. I didn't realize until later in my stay that the lounge and social areas is actually behind the front desk. It would have been nice to have a front desk clerk say something like "let me tell you a little about our property, the restaurants are here, gym is here, bar is here...you have access to this...and that, etc..." This type of greeting is pretty typical in 4-5* properties I tend to enjoy. My interior room on on the 10th floor was very nicely appointed althougth I have to say that the bed and all seating was cleary deisgned for a "look" but not for comfort. The bed was horrible, it was pitted in the middle and the pillow top was extremely soft and didn't offer even moderate support. The only seating is a tete a tete that was low, had stiff vertical sides and was completely useless for relaxation unless you need a nap. Again, clearly some thought given to the look of the piece but none to the comfort and actual useabily of the piece. The rooms were quiet. Bathroom was very clean and nicely appointed. Water flow restrictors were horrible. check out to vallet took 45 mintues. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Five star service. Noisy rooms."
The service - front desk, valet, housekeeping, room service and front end manager - were five star, attentive, professional and eager to help (but not intrusive). The rooms were nice, comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. The walls however are paper thin. If you don't mind listening to your neighbors, it is a perfect hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Breakfast at Tiffany's Chic with updated amenities"
Big beautifully decorated rooms, very Breakfast at Tiffanys chic. DVD player in room as well as iPod player and bathroom makeup mirror and seat are great touches. In a great location for seeing downtown sites and restaurants. Staff is attentive almost a little too much so at times because it comes off as pretentious and a little kiss butt-y. We were […] out on the first floor above giant courtyard style lobby above the bar which got a little noisy in the morning during breakfast and felt unable to open curtains or windows. Not sure if this is because we got our room at a discount on expedia but it sucked being tucked inside without outside light or view and just above the bar was even worse. chocolates and slippers were also a great bonus. Parking at the hotel is $39 which seemed very high and it was quite a scene at night so the elevators were full of people and you were constantly being rushed by the valet which seemed crappy if you were a paying hotel guest. "Beware of small rooms!"
The hotel was beautiful with wonderful amenities and done in an Asian style. Our one complaint was the size of the room. It was exceedingly small; so small that one of us had to sit on the bed if the other wanted to get past. We were told that most rooms are not that small. If the room had been larger then we would have rated it 5's across the board. […] We will stay there again if we are guaranteed a larger room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great until the last sec then not so great."
The Nines is a great place to stay diffently up to par with other nicer hotels we have stayed at. Services was great up until we got our car. I tipped the bellmen $5 to get the bag, the second bell desk clerk for loading the car and the guy who got the car $5. The guy who just opened my door after I just tiped his crew $15 bucks gave me an attitude […] because I didn't tip him for opening 1 out of 3 doors that someone else opened. "The Nines Hotel, Portland, OR - center of activity"
Best location in Portland. Close to museums, shopping, theaters and restaurants. Decor and layout are wonderful. "Pretty good"
The hotel is beautiful and luxurious. But the hallway noise is really loud--I woke up from people just walking by the room talking, not yelling. I think the doors are not well-insulated. "great stay"
I loved the room decor, heating/AC, location, friendly staff and restaurants inside. The worse thing i could say is that the walls are pretty thin so i could hear the hall and next door more than expected. The alarm clock volume doesnt go very loud at all, which i guess they do on purpose but its abnormally low. Also when valet says give them 10-15 […] mins for your car to be pulled up, they mean it. "The Nines - Portland - Luxe Life"
We loved The Nines hotel. However we paid an extra $100 to have two additional people in the room. We received a coupon for a free slider in the hotel bar. We were given one tiny slider for four of us to share. Seems like they could have spared one slider for each of us, especially with the additional persons charge that we paid.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel was very nice. The beds were comfortable. The furnishings were new. There was no coffee maker, refrigerator, or microwave provided. And, the room was extremely small. The 2-queen room was a nice size. The club rooms were worth the money. I really enjoyed the continental breakfast and desserts at night. The King room was smaller. "The Nines on Pioneer Square in Portland, OR"
This hotel is aimed at the 20 something want-to-be rock star, not the business traveller. The nightclub is WAY too loud on the week nights, the sound proofing was terrible, the decor was gaudy, and the curtains wouldn't close. When I called to find out how to close the black out curtains, they said that was a frequent call, and they had to send someone […] to fix them. Here's a tip: When you are getting "frequent calls" about something, change that element in all the rooms so it is no longer a problem. Not everyone who is bothered by it will call you. And have business people stay in your hotel to critically analyze it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

There was one thing that was quite bothersome. The restaurant music was clearly heard in our room.It was some type of tecno that can give one a headache after a while.
