I had higher expectations of a five star hotel that was this spendy. It looked very attractive online but it was like that hot new club that all the cool kids go to. Had I known that, I would have stayed away. They have the most ridiculous elevator system that is ineffective and keeps you waiting. Rooms were nicely furnished and beds were comfortable […] but rooms were also very small. Our toilet got backed up and the water pressure in the sink was practically non existent and temperature was difficult to maintain. Back to the elevator again, needing to have your room key to get to your floor - having to slide it into a slot in the elevator - was a huge pain. It didn't always work...I watched other guests struggle with it. Again, I get it...you are exclusive, but can't you find another way to keep things secure that doesn't inconvenience your guests? Will stay at the Governor next time...they have it down to a science. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great decor', but lacks cleanliness in the room"
My wife and I stayed at The Nines because of its beautiful interior design (from their website). We had a discounted rate so we did not pay as much for the room(although it was still well over $200). It was the first for both of us staying in a "luxury" hotel so we had high hopes. The hotel itself (lobby, service, valet, ect) were excellent. The room […] however, was a HUGE disappointment. The décor/design and color scheme was beautiful, but there were way too many "suspicious" stains on the their furnitures (specifically the sofa). We could not believe that a hotel like this would allow such a filthy furniture to exist in their rooms. The comforter/duvet also had stains on it. Their bed only had a fitted sheet and a comforter (no flat sheet and only 2 pillows). So, for what we came to expect, this was a definite disappointment. Luckily we didn't pay the full price for the room, but even with the discounted rate, this hotel was still subpar. We stayed at the Westin Hotel just around the corner from here a few months ago with much cleaner rooms for half the price. As far as the location, parking is pretty much $40/day or plan on parking 3 blocks away from the hotel for something a little less expensive. You are however pretty much located in the heart of downtown so if that's your plan, then this location is great. Overall, I would not recommend staying in this hotel unless you need to use it for a specific reason and hopefully for a substantially discounted rate. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Sophisticated hotel with a great location"
There were some great things about the hotel, and some not so great things. The front end staff were great- bellman, concierge, front desk. Very friendly, and offered great service. Two things failed miserably- getting my luggage up to the room, and getting the room cleaned and serviced. Both of those things took too long, and required multiple calls […] to get accomplished. "It's ok."
It was a little over priced even with the nice discount Expedia gave us.Genuine Expedia guest review
"small and confused"
Checked in late and was misinformed about parking. Hotel is very urban chic but rooms are tiny, Not my cuo of tea.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Meh"
The hotel is clean. The staff is professional. The beds were not comfortable. The bathroom had no fan. On our particular visit we felt like we were in an episode of Real Housewives or Jersey Shore. We are from Portland and just not used to being surrounded by so many fake people. So glad I didn't have my family stay here for our wedding. Whew.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, but could be better."
Overall my experience was very good, but there were a few things that annoyed me. The rooms do not have blackout curtains, or any way to close the drapes. Pencils were dull and unusable (small thing, but annoying.) The TV flickered every ten minutes or so, including during a movie. Stingy with the bathroom products (shampoo, soap, etc.) Breakfast at […] Urban Farmer was AMAZING! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Swanky facade"
We were very excited to stay at such a "nice" hotel but I think we were given the room reserved for people who book through a service. My bed had a dip in it, like someone had slept in the same spot for years. But because we got back to the room so late I didn't report it to the hotel. And someone was knocking on our door at 3 am! The restaurant was […] nice but pretentious. Overall, I wish I had stayed at the hotel we usually stay in Portland. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rooms are nice, hotel not so much"
The layout of the hotel is awful! I felt like I was on a mall elevator the whole time I was there. No lobby or nice place to make me feel special. I noticed a weird lobby when I was walking to my room and saw it looking down on an atrium. Mostly you just see elevators that are always packed! bad bad bad I wanted to feel like I was in a great hotel, […] it was like a motel with beautiful rooms, sorry the nines Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Less Than Nines"
The room was SO SMALL!!!! It maybe because we are world travelers and expect more.... The reason we booked with you was to return to the bar on the top floor...... WELL......IT'S CLOSED ON SUNDAYS...... what is that about???? Very disappointing!!!! Had we known it was closed we would have stayed somewhere else.......Second time and last time! We will […] NEVER stay at this hotel again..... however, the outside bar.... when it is open..... IT IS AWESOME!!!! ..... Best view in Portland!!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not as impressed"
The hotel is cool and hip for sure, but the small things got to us. There was no top sheet, just a down comforter so we were very hot while sleeping and had to turn the heat way down. I wanted priviacy while changing and couldn't find the black out curtain, had to dig way back behind furniture to get a hold of it, then walk across a chaise loung to […] pull it from one side to the other. I couldn't get warm water in the sink, just extremely hot or cold. In the morning there was no coffee unless you wanted to pay for it. Nice hotels usually have that amenity no matter what, especially in the pacific NW - coffee haven. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, bad wifi, terrible restaurant."
I needed hi speed wifi and the hotel supplied some of the slowest connections I have ever seen. I wound up going to Starbucks to work. The TV in our room had such a slow control system that it was unbearably frustrating, it must have been hooked up to their wifi. The room was small but clean and comfortable. The Urban Dinning restaurant was terrible. […] We took a large group of people (7), my steak was tough, stringy and overcooked. My wife ordered rare, I ordered med-rare and we got medium. The sides were very ordinary for what you pay. With the exception of two people in our group, everyone was disappointed. When you charge these kind of prices you better be memorable and you were anything but. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Love the vibe of the decor...great potential"
Loved everything about the hotel in terms of esthetics and feel. Service was okay...a bit immature in my opinion. Staff was friendly but not super knowlegeable nor hospitable. Great potential for the hotel if they can improve on their staff's service level. We stayed in standard room which was quite nice. Decor felt different than your averageGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dirty Room!!!!"
Very disappointed and grossed out by the crusty sex stains on the couch in our room! I understand and know what happens in hotel rooms but I expect a place as nice as the Nines to clean up after others so that I don't have to look at it. Other than that and a few minor maintenance issues our stay was very nice, quiet, and comfortable. The service was […] excellent and friendly, great Happy Hour, but the couch needs to be cleaned or replaced!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overpriced"
Good service but very overpriced. ($39/night for parking).Genuine Expedia guest review
"No frills"
The rooftop bar is probably the best feature. There is no pool, hot tub or spa here. None of the rooms have a bathtub, not even the suite. We used the valet service and a few times when we called to retrieve our car, they didn't bring it around. Overnight parking is over $30/night so you're better of parking elsewhere (smart park is a good option). […] It was a big hassle to get an extra pillow here. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. Nines can't range for 5 star, only location convenience to all venue. Other than that nothing good. With my experience to many countries, only can range 3 star. Near by there is Hilton Hotel which I will recommend to others, 5 star hotel, with cheaper price, big lobby and have own parking lot. Just 3 blocks away from Nines. While Nines reception area […] was so tiny and on the 8th floor, no parking lot, everytime have to line up outside the busy road. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Nines-Small room, great service"
Stayed at the Nines in a premier King on the Club level. The room was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in, and did not have an outside view. The very small window looked into a restaurant, WEIRD! It was very clean and nicely decorated. No tub in the room, only a shower. If I had not been on the club level with a place to go to relax the small […] room size would have been unacceptable. Especially for the high dollar I paid. Pleasant stay, but the room size and no outside view was a bummer. I would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
