I attended a week long meeting at the convention center and chose this hotel because it was one of the least expensive in the area. The hotel is basic, but I knew what I was paying for. I was pleasantly surprised by staff and the rooms. The front desk staff were polite, even as I was checking in well past midnight. Well, this Shilo property advertised mini suites . . showed photos on the web page of a couch in the view on the ad. Well, just returned from the property and can say we did not have any other casual seating but the chair at the desk !! When we went to the desk and asked, "We booked a mini suite, we were informed that ALL of our rooms are mini suites!!" […] I spent 31+ years before retiremnet living out of suitcases on the UPRR, I know a suite, a mini suite and a room. This is a room, a small one!! Be aware, if you consider this Shilo property. I reguarly stay up after my lady retires, on the computer or watching TV, this property will not be the best bet for you. Three of us were going to a convention at the Doubletree, eight blocks away, and the Shilo Inn Rose Garden was handy to that. We had a rollaway in our double-queen room, which made it a bit cramped, but worked. Downside: tiny, cramped bathroom, hard to open the door once you were inside. The hotel is very conveniently located near both a MAX station and the Oregon Convention Center. I was thrilled that I could walk to and from the convention I was attending in just 5 minutes. The rooms are also in fairly good condition - a good deal for the price.

I left a family heirloom ring in the room when I checked out. I had a day of meetings and late night and didn't notice until the next morning. (it is a band that I have to remove each night). I called immediately and they had my ring safely put away and waiting for me to call. I appreciate great, honest staff!!

The location and price of this hotel are its strong points. Easy access to Portland and close to the train that goes downtown. It's a good, basic place to stay while visiting Portland. Nothing wonderful, nothing awful. That's my kind of place. The staff was friendly and there were just no problems.

No one was at the front desk when I attempted to check in. There was no bell to ring. After waiting 15 minutes, I had to leave to go to the event I was attending. Coming back later at 0300 I again found no one manning the front desk. I used the front desk phone to dial the back room and got someone who told me I was a "no show". Lovely. The surrounding […] neighborhood is like a demilitarized zone and yet the front door was unlocked and no one at the desk--anyone from anywhere could have gotten into the hotel. Very close to downtown Portland, convention center and light rail. Took light rail directly from airport to the convention center stop then walked 10 minutes to hotel. Then did tradeshow at convention center and took light rail to airport. Convention center is right next to light rail stop.

I was in Portland to attend an annual convention and found that the Shilo Inn is a short convenient walk away from the convention center and the local light rail system. My room was quiet and clean with good internet access and a desk so I could work with my laptop. Staff at the front desk, in the breakfast nook and maintaining the rooms were very attentive, […] friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was basic, just fine for what I needed to get my day started. For the price and the convenience this location was good for me. The neighborhood has some typical downtown vagrants but I would rather deal with those minimal issues than have to commute from afar or pay a higher price. Idéal lors des conférences qui se tiennent au Convention Center. Toutes les lignes de tramway se croisent à cinq minutes de l'hôtel ce qui permet de visiter très facilement le centre-ville et ses environs. L'hôtel est très calme et possède tout le confort nécessaire. Je n'hésiterai pas à le conseiller ou à y revenir moi-même.
